Hey guys I just picked up a cheeep old 1978 dt 175. It has an older style 74-75 Hitachi ignition on it. Points setup rather than the stock cdi. It's wired for spark only the whole harness has been gutted. So, it's got spark but super weak and very fickle and the plug has to be real close nearly grounding out to see anything. The previous owner threw on a new coil and I tested the primary coil which was in spec the secondary I got weird numbers on but it's in a different scale and my good meter has a dead batt:( Anyway, factory yamaha manual I have says if you have a new coil and weak spark check the condensor. However, I don't have their little electro tester. I …

has anyone had experience of this task? i'm interested to know about this adjsuster tool that is needed after the engine is dropped and then again once it is in place..... according to the manual the engine can be removed without any special tools but once it is removed the special tool is need to loosen off the engine rear mounting adjusters and then needed once again when the engine is in place. i cannot find this tool at all and it seems i might need to make one...which the manual shows how to. anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in ages... now I have acquired a complete front end from an XVS650 which I have put on my Enfield Bullet 500... long story! My question is: I want to drain the fork oil and add stiffer oil... I can see a drain bolt on one leg but not the other - do you have to remove the spindle and wheel for the other drain bolt to be accessible? Many thanks, Peter.

I just purchased a Yamaha XS400 for project. It's in running condition with 22K on it. I just noticed that it leaks oil which seems to drip down the stand. Does anybody have any idea what's wrong and where should I start looking. Thanks!

Hi, just bought an rxs100, my first bike. Rode it home about 30 miles, and loved it. On the right turn into my street it cut out and I had to push it the rest of way. When I try to start it in neutral its revs by its self to about 6000 and then loses power and cuts out. Could this be the battery? battery level is at minimum level exactly. the guy who had it before me only did 10 miles in the last year. the spark plug is new and oil levels look good. any advice would be appreciated J

Hi all, Does anyone know where I can down load a manual for a xt125r as it is not listed on Yamaha website, my digital speedo display won't work and I've checked the main fuse. Does any one know if the display module has a back up battery ? Everything else works fine and the problem is only since the battery packed as the bike was in hibernation. Thanks all Dogmi

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can lend their opinions to my situation here. Yesterday I changed the oil in my 2002 V-Star 650 Classic. Its the first time Ive changed the oil since getting the bike back in March. I dont know what type of oil was in it before hand, so I figured with the warmer weather hitting us now it was best to be on the safe side and switch to a 20W50. I used yamalube by the way, and a new filter. I also changed out the final drive oil as well and put in an 80w90 hypoid gear oil. So, the thing im wondering about is, after changing out the oil, the engine sounds different. I dont know if it was running rough before, but now it doesnt seem to …

Hi all, I am considering the possiblity of an engine rebuild on my XJ600. There's a regular knocking noise coming from (I think) the crankcase that's audible at tickover and even more so using a screwdriver as a 'stethoscope' pressed to the engine. The engine seems to run absuolutely fine, but I'd rather get this sorted before it fails properly. Where can i buy all the bearings/gaskets/etc that I'll need, or should I be giving up on this bike? Cheers! Ewan

just looking for a few tips. on my project bike im about to start the wiring, most of the harness is there ( in next to unuasable condition ) so im thinking of redoing the bad bits, if not it all and adding in whats not there. Has anyone ever done this for a whole bike before ? kinda tools should i be looking to get ? have a decent crimping tool, soldering iron and tools for removing cables out of the block connectors , aswell as the usual pliers, wire cutters, wire strippers etc been looking into it for a while and from what i've gathered its easy enough, as long as you use the right "ampage" cables, follow the wiring diagram like a hawk and take yer time …

I just acquired a 74 360mx with NO spark. Is there a test for the CDI, ignition coil, charge coils, flywheel magneto or pulse coil? Where should I start? I am trying to restore it to be a nice driver. Do not want to part it out.

Apologies if this has been asked before but can't figure out how to search the forum Does anyone know where to source a decent Workshop Manual for a 2010 XJ6 Diversion (SA) ABS? Have seen a couple of XJ6 manuals on Fleabay but not sure if they are any use. Haynes don't seem to do one as yet unless anyone knows different! Not looking to take the bike apart but would like a bit more info than the handbook! Thanks

Hi 1st post from new member, I`m from the Grimsby area and have had a DT125R for over a year. Bike is really good apart from after a ride i have a few spots of oil on the floor. The oil appears to be coming from behind the front cog. Is this just an oil seal failure and an easy fix or is this a more serious problem. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi guys , My turn for help.I have a rd engine for rebuild and have a problem with the points rotor. One of the springs on the rotor has decided its not happy doing its job and keeps coming out due to been mishaped.Anyone know if just the springs are available to buy or is a new rotor the only answer ? .I have searched the yambits and wemoto sites etc to no avail. The engine is on its original pistons and having both engine covers off i am amazed at the lack of wear on the engine. Its just very rough in the points department and needs brushes points and a rewire.I dont mind spending a few quid on it as it cost £4.30 on ebay and came with carbs downpipes and coils.(i know what…
