I lost spark on my DT over the weekend when I got to looking into it I saw that one of the wires going from the stator coil on the left side of the points had been rubbing on the magneto. I tried to gently push it out of harms way and the wire and insulation fell apart. It goes from that coil straight to the condenser. Can I simply pull a little more wire off the coil re-insulate it with heat shrink and re-solder it to the condenser?

Sorry Guys, I know this is probably old ground but any help would be appreciated, my 1989 XJ600 needed new carb mounting rubbers so I bit the bullet and bought a set, I also invested in a set of balance gauges, fitted new rubbers OK but when it came to balancing I had problems, firstly I wrongly identified the master carb, secondly I did it all wrong, having then read the manual after finding it! I had another go, but its still not right firstly the throttle takes its time to come down and as the machine gets warm the idle gets higher, the gauges all seem to be about the same and it is better than the first attempt although still not correct but when I…

I am in the middle of rebuilding a 1990 TZR, I'm at the stage where I am reinstalling the carburettor. I am a bit unsure where all the hose go. Am I correct in saying that the main fuel line in goes in the connector that sits vertically on the left side of the carb? The oil line goes on the front right brass connector? There are 2 connectors ( one on each side which are horizontal ) are these breather pipes and do the hoses sit vertically downwards? There is another connector on the base to the carb, again another breather vertical downwards? The last connector is just beside where the carb joins the air box it is a white plastic connector that rotates, what does this con…

Hey guys, novice here. Bought a '97 YZF750 maybe a month ago. Lubbed/adjusted chain and did an oil change. Went from conventional oil to full synthetic mobil 1 15w-50. I'm noticing a buzzing noise coming from the front part of the engine behind the radiator now that I've done the oil change. It makes the noise from start-up all the way through the powerband and is most noticeable at about 4k rpms. Its pretty loud. Any ideas? Was thinking about changing out the oil with a 10w-40 and switching filter brands. Other than this noise the engine runs like an absolute top. All input welcome. Thanks.

  7. Hi everyone, I have a Yamaha xvs 250 drag star 2003. I was riding it one day and then suddenly oil started spewing out of the air filter and it cut off. When we had a look, there was a lot of oil in the air filter and and it seemed that the oil was coming through the crankcase breather hose up through the carb, (even though there seemed to be no oil in the carb). We noticed that it did not happen when it was turning over on idle but rather when we tried to ride it and a build up of pressure occurred. Can anyone help? Any possible solutions or should i just take it to a garage. Thanks in advance

Hey guys, I have recently noticed a slight fuel leak on my Yamaha DTR 125 1989, ive not had the chance to see exactly where the leak is coming from but I will update this thread when I find out, hopefully tomorrow. It's defiantly not from the tank itself. Anyway, she only leaks petrol when the fuel tap is on, even when the engine is off. If i'm right in saying, It could be the fuel tap at fault or even the carb? has anyone else had this problem and if so what was at fault? I rarely have free time so I need to really fix the leak in the least time possible. Any suggestions or theorys welcome! Thanks for your time, Jamie

  9. I have just put a 90cc kit on my tzr. I got it from Poland and the instructions said to run it in do 500km (310miles) at no more than 30kmph (18mph) and then a further 500km (310mph) at no more than 40Kmph (24mph). Is this right. Surely them speeds are Illigal to start with. Plus that would take me about a year to cover 620 miles. If its right I have no choise I suppose

hi there, still a bit of a noob on here.. had an XT for a while now, bought it from a prev owner who'd fitted an arrow exhaust system, seems they were the best option , now im no expert but ive got half an idea about bikes and that and when i start the bike up from cold, obviously i have to give it a bit of choke but it coughs its way along. i think im right in saying the bike should idle around the 1200 - 1400 rpm mark, but it idles at around 900 rpm and when i pull the throttle just splutters and cuts out. now im thinking it may be something to do with the air mixture not being set up correct for the new exhaust, but any advice would be much appreciated

Hi all, My TZR 125 R belgarda is giving me a massive headache, it won't run right and keeps dying on me (I'm currently sitting on the side of the road as I write this) when I first got her she would run but wasn't very happy about hitting the valve and eventually gave up the ghost on me which turned out to just be reeds, however I then felt that as I had stripped the top end off I would replace the piston rings little end gaskets etc along with the reeds. After the rebuild she started up fine but wouldn't do more than 45mph which it turns out was due to some bad info about setting up the power valve after spining that round 180 she was almost riding perfect except was a …

HI guys, Just wondering what everyones opinions are on the best way to remove a broken exhaust manifold stud. I need to remove 2, one of them has about 15mm protruding and the other is snapped pretty much right at the cyclinder head. would i be best to drill them both, with left handed bits and hope they bite, or use a stud extractor ? cheers
