    hi im new to the forum so fort i would say hello befour i ask for help with a little dt125 i picked up and now keeping my wireing was all over the place so i made all new conection for the loom got lights and horn e.g but soon as i put the battery + on bike cuts out and lights go really dim i checked the battery and not getting a charging from the stator so i was wondering if somone could tell me what wire from the stator charges the battery please as ive got a wireing diagram and carnt make head or tale what the charging wires are thanks

Unfortunately got pulled over today whilst taking a pillion by the police because my indicators weren't working properly, apparently the back ones were dimming the brake light and were really dim.. Now they're not working at all! The only one that flashes properly is the right front one, left front one just stays light up and doesn't flash.. Is the battery just flat?? Please help!!

    Ok so I have decided to finally do something about the old maxim that has sat in my garage for the last 2 years and have whipped the head off to get the broken stud removed by someone who has more patience than me (local engineers) So while I have the head off I was having a bit of a poke about and realised that I can block off the bloody YICS balance holes by replacing the rubber O rings with 4 blanking pieces, after all my XJ runs better and has better mileage since I used the YICS blanking tool (£45) , but it got me thinking, should I block off the internal pass through balance holes or should I get another YICS blanking tool, cos if I blank it off internally (about…

  6. Just bought what was once a beautiful show bike that had been neglected and abused. Cosmetics are beautiful, but it has a 0few minor (I hope) issues. Low beam is REALLY low. Put a meter on the socket and tried another bulb I had laying around. Same result. What number bulb is required? Or is it an electrical problem? While I'm here, After warming up a bit, sounds like marbles are rolling around in the tranny. Put a stethoscope on the clutch cover and it was coming from more so there than else where.   7. Hi, I'm not sure if this is a common problem but it is a real pain getting my SR125 to go into netral. I normally end up jumping from 1st to 2nd and back four or five times before it goes and sometime I have to walk the bike and play play around with the clutch before it goes in. I don't have any problems changing into any other gears, just neutral... strange! Any ideas would be brilliant. Thanks, Michael

    1984 XJ600 Revs UP! I've just got me bike ready for Mot. Its been off the road for a few years. I put a set of reconditioned carbs on it, but when you blip the throttle it revs up to 3-4k and wont come back down. I have to switch it off. Any help / ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Davy

    As I posted in the New Members forum, I decided to dig my trusty YPVS out of the garage over the weekend, and have been giving her a good clean and polish. It looks as if I will need to fix the fuel tap as it leaks when I try to turn it. I gather there are seals kits available so that should be easy enough to do. However, the aircraft style fuel filler cap is more of a mystery. The key turns, but the cap will not open. I have tried removing the Allen head screws, but these don't seem to get me anywhere. And in any case, if the locking mechanism won't retract, the cap won't open regardless. I have a horrible feeling that I might have to drill it out. Is this a kno…

    I can't be ar5ed to go and look so can anyone tell me the following please: On a stop & tail bulb there are 2 filiments. One thin and one thicker. Which one is which please? There doesn't seem to be a noticable difference in brighness in the 6v bulb on the TS and the pattern back light has seperate wires with non standard coloured wiring. Cheers.

    Sorry for not searching the forum but I'm using my phone, no access to a pc. I want a blue sprocket and chain for my bike, it's just had a new one but I want a blue one now. What is the difference between DID & O Ring? And For more acceleration do I need more or less teeth on the sprocket, does this apply to the front sprocket as well?

    hello , i`ll keep it short ~ after trying to adjust my timing via a strobe light ( as i have no dial guage ) , i see three marks on the rotor close together and 1 on the baseplate / engine , do i set my timing to the first mark and it advances to the others when revved ? ( someone has been messing around in there and it was the only thing i haven`t looked at but i knew something was awry as bike was running weird ) motors back together with another 1mm oversize piston but i need to reset this timing ... thx in advance / Pete *

    Hi All, Just trying to fine-tune the air/fuel setup of my recently restored '79 DT175MX which seems to be running slightly lean at higher revs/throttle position. Looking at the top of the airbox/air inlet there is a circular hole there which Im not sure if it should be there. Can I ask if any of the DT gurus here could clarify if its standard, or if a PO has taken a drill to it. I realise it wouldn't make a great difference to A/F readings but it'd be handy to know. Here's a pic, showing the "hole" in question, at the bottom, just before the connection to the airbox/filter housing......... Many thanks!! V.

  15. hi i was wondering if anyone could help i have a dtr125 iv had the bike for a few months now and it all runs ok i think the head gasket has gone as the rear expansion tank bubbles and leaks and the rad needs topping up all the time but what i would like help with is at the front of the cylinder there is black runny stuff coming out and i cant tell if its coming from the base gasket on the cylinder or if its coming out of the exhuast iv taken the exhuast off today and there was a bit of the black stuff in there so do you think thats were its coming from or would this happen if your cylinder base gasket has gone thanks for any help Gary

    Having an issue where my charge light will not go out unless I force the cut-out relay into contact with a screwdriver. It will then charge normally with the light out as long as I don't idle. When the rpm drops back to idle the light comes back on and won't go out, and it is not charging. I have tried both regulators I have with the same result, so suspect the prob is not a regulator prob. Starter works fine with a full charge on the battery, all brushes in the stator are new or nearly new. Out of town to the U.K. for the next few days, so looking to get this sorted when I return home.

    Hi all... just discovered a small leak at the bottom of the crankcase, so while replacing gaskets etc, checking everything else on the way through, and would like your opinions on the state of the piston - here she is: I haven't cleaned it up or anything, and there is a SMALL amount of carbon deposit there... opinions?
