Hello, I need to pick your collective brains please. As the topic title indicates, its to do with both of them. One has started to leak and the other is not far off. To get a new pair from Yamaha - £250 + VAT. I've not got that kind if money so where can I get comparable bits from? I've looked on EBay and the likes of Yambits, etc but no success. So can you help? The bike is my transport to work. Without it, I'm buggered. Thanks in advance HCB

Hi guys, new member here could do with a little help. My sons '98 virago vx 125 ( bought last week) was running a little rough, seemed to be fuel starvation at higher revs. I stripped the carb down today and found the fuel injection tube (if thats what it's called) that protrudes into the main throttle body and supplies fuel under acceleration and on open throttle ( its fed through a galley in the bottom edge of the float chamber mating face and supplied with fuel direcly via the plunger pump on the side of the float chamber) was completely blocked. It looked as if someone had tinkered previously as the end of the tube was a bit mangled and crushed (pliers maybe) and the …

Having bought a 1991 exup, I'm having trouble seeing the oil level in the sight glass. All I can see is a "U" shape - the rest is dark or obscured. I've changed the oil and filter and it took about 2.5L to get the oil towards the top of this "U" shape by adding a bit at a time. Not sure if this is correct. I found this picture which looks exactly the same as mine. Can anyone offer some advice please? Andy

The exup valve on my recently aquired FZR1000 is in a really sorry state - seized and the pulley is basically bits of rust (non existent really) plus the cables are frayed. So.....is it worth repairing or simply replacing the downpipes and collector box with a new system (without the exup). If anyone's done this does it need re-jetting or does the engine run well without the exup? I'd have to replace so much I'm thinking it can't be economic to replace the entire exup assembly? Thanks for any advice, Andy

hi everyone, a friend recomended this site he said you helped him out of a hole last year.... anyway i have a yzf thundercat, just removing alarm as playing up big time, problem is i am left with 4 wires white squareall black with intermittent white squares. one comes out of cdi unit (presumed to be plastic box fixed in front of battery with three plugs in unit) with 12.5 supply (ignition switchable), another has battery voltage slightly higher at 13.8 (ignition switchable)located at one of the gang plugs at the back of the battery, the third seems to be starter command wire as when you put battery live through it starter turns on thumb switch, the fourth seems to b…

Hi all, thanks for reading. Am hoping someone on here might know a bit more about clutches and gearboxes than me and be able to tell me whether my guesses are right or not. I think I have two seperate problems but they might be connected... First one is about false neutrals. Reasonably often my bike doesn't like going from 1st to 2nd and just goes into neutral, not quite so often it does the same thing going from 3rd to 4th. It tends to happen when I am accelerating (relatively - its a 125 so not really) quickly. At first I thought it was just me being rubbish and not making a strong enough change action but I don't think thats the case any more. I commute …

Hi, I hope you can help, i've had my SR125 since last October and i've had no trouble at all with as i've only been riding in town. I've recently moved house and now do a 15 mile commute on national speed limit roads. When I start up the bike I have had no problems at all and when i'm on the country roads at top speeds it's all fine too. The problem i'm having is that when I get into the town on the other end of my commute, if I have to stop completely or hold my clutch in for too long the engine cuts out completely (Sometimes whilst i'm still rolling along!) When I hit the electric start it wont start unless I give a little throttle, although I do have my lights on…

Hi everyone, I have tried my best to follow the Haynes manual, and have managed to get one bearing out of the front hub, but the other won't budge. At least, the bearing probably will, but the rubber cover wont. Can anyone tell me if there is a trick to removing it, or is it just push fit and needs more force? Here is the black rubber hub dust cover that i mean... Many thanks for the help. I am waiting for an aluminium polishing kit coming in through the post for my grinder, so i'll pop up the results for the rims, spokes and hubs when its all shiny. Thanks, atocp

Ok. So i have a 1987 yamaha virago xv1100. I bought it from a friend. It does not have a instrument panel becuase his ex wife put a hammer to it. All the wiring is fine i just dont have a Nuetral light, a oil light and a gas light. So here we go. I want to give myself a Gas light so i know when im low on gas instead of waiting for it to choke then switching it to researve. So i bought those Lights people use in sports cars as Clutch lights ect. There is a green wire and a black wire coming from my gas sensor under my gas tank. I took the green wire from the gas sensor and put it to the NEGITIVE to the light i installed I took the black wire from the gas sen…
