I have an XVS 125 (54 plate, 6.5k). I was out riding the other week and she started to lose power when doing 50mph. It only lasted for a second like the brake was on, and then continued as normal. This repeated a couple of times during the journey. I have replaced the oil and filter and put new plugs in to see if it helped. The old plugs looked like originals and appeared black at the ends, one was slightly wet on the thread. On the way to work, she did the same thing again when I got her in to 5th gear. It was an extreme downpour at the time and I initially thought this may have been contributing to the problem and the engine was not warmed properly. However, when I pu…

Last night she started fine but was still bogging when I applied throttle in neutral. So since she is still bogging and having gone through various things, I decided to clean out the carb today. I removed the seat and speedo, but when I came to remove the air filter, I noticed there was a lot of oil in it (she had previously had too much in it to start with). I recently changed the oil, plugs and oil filter but had forgotten to check the air filter. So I've now clean out the excessive oil, cleaned the filter and put the unit back together. I reconnected the small hose and silencer and fitted the air filter unit back onto the bike. I reconnected the speedo, two sock…

Hi all again, yet another question I will buy a manual at some point I promise. I was wondering about the tension of my cam chain. Reason for this is I have noticed that it seems a bit noisy( the engine I mean) when I have her out a run. Now I know it could be a number of things I.e valve clearance but as I have never done this myself before I thought I would check the tension on the cam chain I gather this does not self adjust as I can see a bolt with a lock nut on the side on the tension adjust unit so can anybody give me a run down on how to check/adjust my cam chain? Sorry if you's lot think I'm a pain in the ass but I bought this bike with the intension …

So .. as some of you may be aware I aquired a little SR125 for £120 (lol) as a non runner that had been stood for 6 months Anyhow I managed to get him running on Thursday, enough to ride him to my local car mechanic and show him, seeing as I had been pestering him all day for advice... When I got him to the garage, turned him off and left him for about 15 mins to chat.. went to restart and he struggled to fire up..! Eventually got him going again and drove it round the ind estate to try and get the squeak out of the rear brakes. So JOY! I was happy, went home and booked him in for an MOT just to see what it would need... Went to start him yesterday…

Hi I'm struggling to sort this problem. The break light is on constantly- (unless I remove the earth spade from behind it, then the rear light filament comes on.) I've removed the break switch and the light stays on. Ive tested the switch and it appears to be working. But it's disconnect to count it out. Can anyone suggest anything- is it a case of checking wiring?

I would like to fit a larger headlight to my 650 Dragstar as the stock item looks a bit too small. I don't really want to have to make any modifications and so a straight swap would be ideal. Does anyone have any idea of a larger headlight that would fit?

Hi Guys, Looking for some help with daughter's DT50MX - stolen and recovered tore all the dash and clocks off and twisted wires together. Bought a donor bike for bits with spare ignition and clocks. (the donor bike has points) Refitted and electrics working but no spark - it is a CDI model. Is there any way to test CDI for faults and would shorting all 4 ignition wires together cause this to burn out? Any help gratefully received. Steve

First post, first motorbike. Having ridden peds for about 8 years, I decided to up my game in preparation for doing my full test in a year or two. I bought a good condition yamaha rsx100 which a friend of mine who knows more about mechanics than me checked over. It seems to be in great condition, both mechanically and body wise. However, the one issue it did have was the kickstart lever. The ring of the lever has worn down and thus needs replacing. Being a complete noob. I bought a kickstart lever for an rxs100, believing the parts to be interchangeable. I appear to be wrong. The lever arrived, different shape, and the connector ring is too large to fit the…

Hi guys, Just a quick one. I have noticed a clicking coming from the front of the bike which speeds up when I speed up. Now the ticking goes away when i apply a slight pressure to the front brake (not enough to slow the bike down) and therefore, in my knowledgeable opinion (which is just short of absolutely nothing) i'm thinking something to do with the brakes . Any help would be appreciated ps its a Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar ta!

Okay well i sold my old bike due to having an electrical problem that i gave up on trying to solve and now i have my eyes set on a mint 2001 dt125r BUT it needs all the lights wiring, all the wires are there they just need connecting apparently and i know for a fact that this would totally do my head in so i am just wondering how hard it actually is? Thanks all!

Hi all i posted his elsewhere on the site but think i stuck it in the wrong area. Thing is i have a xj600 pre and was wanting to know about putting wider tyres on the bike. I know there is a rule not to mess wiht this but im not talking 180 rear here. I was thinking of maybe either 120 or 130 rear and maybe a 100 front. Reason for this is i feel its a bit to prone to jumping into road rutts and you get pulled about a fair bit. Also would like a more rounded profile. Another factor is this is the first bike i have owned with such skinny tyres and i also ride a gsxr 600 so im not want to go risking anything. Dont get me wrong i love the bike and i seem to be using …
