Hi there, suggestion was made that I tell you how/why I flashed my ECU on my 09 "long bang" R1. I bought the bike and found that the engine braking was way to harsh, it just didn't inspire any confidence when out riding, especially those on/off throttle moments like transitioning and setting up for corners, at the same time I was looking at getting rid of the F-ugly exhaust pipes and unleash the sound some more. So I began searching first for information on PowerCommanders and Bazzaz units to remap the fuelling for when I changed the exhaust, and then I came across lots of people complaining about the severe engine braking, and some that had fitted the YEC race ECU …

Hello guys and girls, I am not the brightest when it comes to figuring out simple things. I've been trying to google and search for a meaning, but I can't seem to find one. Maybe I'm just being dim. Can someone suggest what the numbering for a bulb is? E.g. 6v 17/5.3. I know it is a 6V, and its either going to be a 17W or a 5.3W...or magically both - maybe under different conditions? But I am trying to buy a tail light bulb for my YB100. Wem*to have already supplied the wrong order once, and checking their site doesn't give you the details of what bulb you are buying, but the Haynes book of en'light'enment tells me its a 6V 17/5.3W. Should I be buying a 6V say…

Is there any way that i could find out which units will be suitable for my bike. The one that is in is labelled TID14-39 IAE-10 With 602 stamped in the silver box Having said that, which gasket sets could i use for the same engine? It is sooting up all four plugs after maybe 100 miles. I have noticed that the inlet valve on cylinder one could do with a regrind so i am assuming all eight will need doing, therefore a gasket set is need before i start. Its an XJ750RL imported and about a 1983 manufacture

Ever since I bought the bike (2nd hand with 984km on the clock) it has been very "snatchy" when opening the throttle in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear with the clutch fully engaged. My chain tension is set correctly, actually slightly tighter than recommended in the manual. Also when lane splitting in 1st and 2nd gear the bike seems to have a "hunting effect". This mainly happens when the bike gets up to speed and I have have to maintain a constant speed, usually between 2000-3500rpm, where not much throttle is needed to maintain speed. I suspect that there might be too much play in the gearbox. I know that there should be some play, but compared to other bikes I have ridden n…

Hi all Just goined as my niece has a fuel pump issue with her ybr 125, the fuel injected 08 version. Should you hear the fuel pump prime every time you cycle the ignition as I think her's is sticking/ not moving. Every 20th time you can hear it prime and the bike will start, every other time the bike just spins over......no start. If it should prime every time has anyone got a wiring diagram so I can check the wires to the fuel pump are getting the correct feed, earth coming through. Cheers scoobydude ( sorry I ride a street fighter gsx1100e)

Hi to all you bikers I am new here I have a problem with cylinder 3 that wont run, temp on exhaust manifold is aprox. 60degree C and the other ones are 300degree C. I have tried to clean the carbs, swobbed the ignition cables 2 to 3, swobbed the sparkplugs.... when I look down in the sparkplug hole I can see gasoline on the piston... I asumed that when cylinder 2 has a spark then cylinder 3 also would have... Compression is fine on all 4 cylinders Hope that anyone of you can help me Thanks.. Regards Henrik

I have 2 DT 50 MX's ones a 1989 other a 1991 model and both are cdi with 65cc kits on and non stock reeds, stock exhausts. After tearing one to bits and cleaning up all electical connections, replacing coil, spark plug, strip and clean carb etc i finally got one up and running but it struggles to tick over for more than a few seconds, rev's a bit spluttery then gives up and stops and then takes several kicks to get going again. I have double checked the carb is clean and been blown out with compressed air, set the left screw 1 1/2 turns out as per haynes manual but can find no info on setting the throttle stop screw at all. I have done a compression test and that…

hey everyone i recently purchased a yz125/05 model, ive owned bikes in past but never maintained them ( old man use to do it for me when younger) havent been on bikes for years nd now have this one to start back at it. but have only a small knowlege of maintenance . the bike has been sitting for a while, exhaust was rusted so i took it off and removed the rust and gave it a coat of black heat resistant engine paint. chain and small sprocket are rusted, nd ive heard if changing chain better of chainging both sprockets also. but have no idea on how to do this. watched videos and they all miss little details that confuse me., she runs (was the main condition of me buying it)…

I've just bought some new brake pads. They are 'sintered', what's the difference and what does sintered mean? They were more expensive than the others so I assumed they would be better.

Hi guys and girls, I recently respoked my wheels (laced both and trued the rear myself...so chuffed to bits!!) and replaced the nipples as well. I bought some rim tape on ebay, the little rubber band kind, which cover the nipples. However, today I went to put the rear tyre on and found that after I was done, and pumped up, it deflated after an hour. Now, this could have been a faulty inner tube (brand new) or I could have nipped it when I put the tyre back on (extremely likely) or it could have rubbed on the slightly rusty (although polished and smooth) inside of the rim. Here's the question....The rim tape I bought only covers the nipples. What do people use …

hi all has anybody seen these home made hydrogen generators people are making on youtube ? very basically you get fire from water and people are fitting them to there cars. from what ive read the internal combustion engine is quite inefficient around 60%, alot of the fuel is not fully burnt up in the combustion chamber and is past out through the exhaust. when the gas from the cell enters the air intake ( two parts hydrogen one part oxygen) and into the engine it burns rapidly especially with the oxygen it burns everything up in the combustion chanber ensuring all the fuel is used thus increasing fuel efficiency and probably tuque. one fella used this on his vw Bug and…
