Which would be better for increased acceleration 11 or 17 tooth front sprocket, Or would the standard 14 tooth front sprocket be just near the same? Rear sprocket is 48 tooth.

Hi, I'm looking for some help with this for a mate... The bikes a yamaha xt125x 2006, the last time it was rode he covered 100 miles in a downpour, put the bike away, a week later turned the key and the battery area started smoking, switched off the ignition the rectifier wire is melted, sorted the wiring out and now the bike starts but will only idle if you rev it it dies, any ideas ?

Hi All, I am no biker ! But my son who is 17 is... well was up until yesterday. In April I bought him a 2012 125 yzf R something ! Anyway yesterday he crashed it but only on tarmac and was not too badly hurt thank god. Its going to cost me 1500 just to get the bike rideable with out having the cosmetic stuff done. Dealership is offering me 200.00 scrap its only done 6000 miles and I paid cash for it 4,300 4 months ago. I can't afford to fix it . hi i have a ybr125 06.someone tried to nick it stole the ignition barrel i replaced the barrel,soldered the wires together replaced the main 15 fuse bike light turn on but there is no spark,i replaced the spark plug no spark im thinking it the coil can any1 help cheers

hello just got adt 125 lc frame been told its a 1984 , but no idea its bare with just a few bits on it , its my new project build a bike dt 125lc athon, the only identity on the bike is right side of the steering column 12w-000 441, has anyone any idea what this means in relation to model or age because i guess im going to be buying a lot of parts for it soon .

I've just fitted a new NOS air filter to my DT400E as the original disintegrated as soon as it was touched! The new filter came sealed in a bag and was pre-oiled. Having been out for a reasonable run with a brand new spark plug fitted, I checked the plug condition on return and it has sooty deposits. This is sometimes attributed to the air filter, but with a new one I wouldn't have thought this would be the cause. However, I wonder if the oil in the filter has perhaps thickened in the time since it was made and is restricting air flow? Should I take the filter out and clean it and do they really need to be oiled for UK conditions? Also, the bike wasn't keen on…

Hi guys, anyone know if its possible to adjust the chain tensioner on a 1985 xt600E, Its my mates bike and its rattling like a diesel engine, the sound is coming from the timing chain tensioner area, is it possible to adjust, or if its self adjusting, if so, do they get stuck and not adjust themselves fully?? this happened to my 1100 drag, and I freed it up, and now its fine, "any thoughts".

Hi. I'm brand new here, I just registered to ask a few questions (and because I'm a proud Yamaha owner) I am working on fixing up a DT175E - just like the one I had 20 years ago. I have a lot to learn about working on bikes. I am worried because yesterday, I was installing a new carberator that I ordered off of ebay - long story short, I had a hard time wrestling the cable onto the throttle valve, and I dropped the throttle valve and needle on the garage floor. Maybe twice. In my inexperience and frustration, feeling a little "over my head", I decided to put it all together and see how it went. Hi I've got a 350 F2 and am having carb problems. It was leaking petrol from the overflow pipe so I assumed that the vacuum fuel tap was leaking and the float valves were not sealing properly. I thought I'd change the float needle valves and seats in both carbs and try to fix the vacuum tap, which I did with repair kits from Yambits. The tap now seems fine (petrol on "prime" and nothing on "on" or "res" but ever since the carbs just leak petrol straight out of the overflow pipes and the engine just revs to about 5000 rpm with a closed throttle and makes no power. I have checked and rechecked for an air leak and the setting for the float heights but can find nothing…

hi all i wonder if anyone can tell me if the dt 175 and the dtr 125 share the same bottom end or at least the same bottom end components? the reason for this is i am thinking of putting an athena 170cc kit onto my dtr 125. cynic tells me that this will put the 125 specification bottom end under too much strain in the long run and i think he is right. so in summery is the dtr125 simply a dt 170 with a smaller 125 top end? thanks

I am new to motorcycles(licensed July 2012) and have recently purchased a 79 XS1100 Special(June 2012) I have been riding regularly since Mid July, 100-200 miles a week. Just the other day, I went to start my bike and it was hard to turn over and then gas came out of the Airbox. I was told that I needed to clean the carbs. I removed them and got some help cleaning them. They were pretty clean to start with. Put everything back together, but I am still getting gas coming from my airbox when I try to start it if I leave it overnight. Any ideas? Could my petcock(s) be leaking? I have noticed that the OCTY is missing from my bike. Thank you in advanc…

hi all just a little question about the athena 170 piston kit for the dtr e 125. i cant quite get my head around how the cylinder bolts on to the crankcase. i would imagine that the cylinder should have a larger diameter hence 170cc and on the net the pictures show the kit comes with its own studs why take the old studs out has anyone else fitted these before and would it but the crank bearings and the rest of the bottom end components under too much strain? thanks every one

so i had my tw for 2 days, went for a ride this morning, everything was allright, bike had a 2hr breake, and i jumped on it again, started up fine, done around 20 meters and first i lost the power, then engine went off, and since then bike would not start up, i ve checked airfilter, spark plug, battery, fuel tap, and to be onist i do not have a clue whats wrong with it! btw its my first 125 and im pritty newbie in bikes and at this forum, so hi to everyone

Hi guys I'm Brad a newbie to this forum from Brisbane Australia, I Just picked up a 2002 DT175 for a work commuter over all its not bad nick but the back rim has got a bloody big dent and 3 broken spokes I have looked here and there but can only buy the hole lot of spokes $90 Aus and I have not even priced a rim. I was having a look on ebay as one dos and spotted a old 1980 DT175 for wrecking $80 for the bike the back wheel looks okay .... so my Question is will it fit my 2002 DT as bolt on or without having to respoke it ? or will say a complete back wheel from an IT or what ever fit ? Thanks any help would be appreciated guys. …

Evening, Recently bought myself a carb 06 ybr 125, it's a lovely bike apart from 2 issues (not inc the crap light (already googled that)) It starts fine, idles well when warm, but when riding it cuts out, doesn't matter what gear or rev range, the way I've found to cure it is blowing in to the tank. I've changed the plug, checked the fuel filter, disconnected the fuel line to the carb and it flows out and the fuel cap pin hole looks clean (could someone post an image of a clean one for comparison?) Problem 2, it only wants to get to 45, 50 at a push, now I'm 6ft tall @95kgs so that could be an issue but could it be anything else? Cheers, David.

Hi there I've recently fitted a xj600 lump into my fz600, I've sourced various looms and a cdi to convert things over but have a problem with no spark on number 1 and 4 coil 2 and 3 coil is fine, any ideas would be grateful cheers

Hi there, i'm thinking of installing a HID kit to my TRX. The headlight is quite poor and this kit would make me more visible to other drivers. Has anyone out there installed a kit on their TRX and can it be done successfully. Can anyone help. Cheers Steve.
