Hi all, I'm new to the forum just looking for a bit of advice on an old dt125. After a recent crash i have noticed oil leaking from the gearbox cover, i managed to remove all screws holding it on and the radiator hose etc and used a tiny amount of instant gasket to see if it would seal it. Put everything back together and put fresh oil into gearbox and topped up radiator, after starting the bike it seemed to have sealed the leak but there is oily water i think coming out of an overflow pipe and i'm not too sure why as it had not done that earlier on when it was running. I'd appreciate any advice you have to give me on this problem. Thanks again.

  6. Hello All, I am posting this to make you all aware that some Yamaha R1 2008's have factory defects regarding valve guides and valve failure....I have found his out due to my bike developing low compression and I have now had the engine stripped and my mechanic has informed me that for 1 guide and 1 valve to fail is very unusual and thinks that the valve guide and valve may not have been properly seated due excessive grinding paste which is used to seat the valve at initial run in.....My mechanic phoned yamaha and explained what he had found and requested they supply the parts for the repair....1x Headset 1x Valve guide inlet side 1x Valve .....and the said that unfort…

I was wondering if this could be done on my XT125. I wanted something with a revcounter at the moment I have a digital one but its tiny and spoils the fun in it really. What I need is something with a needle, I was looking at some clocks from KOSO but they are quite expensive so I was thinking if it is possible to wire up one from a YZF R125? Im seeing some going for cheap on ebay at the moment. Is it possible to do this and will things like Fuel level etc work? I am electrically competant and am willing to give this a go. Thanks in advance guys!

So in my intro I described lots of fuel in the engine oil. I was wondering if there is an "off" position to the fuel tap. If it drained a lot (several pints) of fuel into the engine oil then I'm guessing that there is more fuel than what's in the carbs draining. If there's no "off" position then I may have to replace the valve if I can't find a complete rebuild kit. Thanks for your help. Marcus

Hi guys, im looking for some advice, i have recently purchased a 51 plated aerox 50cc for £40 yes £40! it needs a few bits doing to it but for £40 i took the challenge. The first thing that was wrong was no power, its been stood for 5 years and is a bit rusty etc, so threw a new battery at it, still nothing, its the lcd temp gauge model and there is nothing showing, so tried kick starting, still nothing, even after cleaning fuel tank out, fresh fuel etc.got frustrated so took carb apart and there was white crystals in the carb float bowl, tried taking main jet out but in the process it snapped the main jet sleeve. after searching on ebay i found an engine, carb with…

  12. Hi everybody hope all is well. I bought a 2003 aerox last week and everything seemed fine, was hitting 60 no problem. Then a day or 2 later it started playing up a little, now it doesn't accelerate properly and won't go over 25? The back brake seems strange when I press it compared to the front as though its not doing anything, does this mean its seized up? I've also noticed a small leak from the casing round the bit with the spark plug I think its the cylinder head?? What's that mean? Is it bad? Thanks for reading and all help is greatly appreciated. :-)

The first time I went to a garage I got ripped off badly, losing money was one thing, but the humiliation was unbearable. Knowing that he knew I knew but couldn't do a thing about it. Anyway I've started to bits myself now but.............. I have bought a brand new speedo for my bike which has all it's own connections and doesn't need to connect to the loom. I would do it myself but lack the experience and confidence when it comes to electrical, also I want a proper job doing. I have booked my bike into a garage which after researching seems ok. How much approximately will it cost to fit it, I know you can't give me an exact answer but I need a rough idea give or take…

  16. Hello there, My name is Phil and i thank you for reading this. I am in the process of converting the electrics on my DT175 MX to 12 volts after researching the various threads. All bulbs, the battery and the flasher unit have been replaced but i'm struggling to find a suitable voltage regulator. Mine has a single yellow/white wire coming from it and i guess that the case is the actual earth connection that bolts to the frame. However, all replacement 12 volt regulators seem to have many wires and i'm struggling to find anything with a single wire to retrofit. If anybody has any ideas, please let me know. I don't mind modifications and if i have to alter someth…

Hi has any body had any experiance in bending 38mm Stainless tube for a custom exhausts, I've watched a few videos on youtube, though i've not found many home made pipes, most guys are in professional workshops using expensive machines. I've found some sections of pre bent tube, but have visions of it looking like spaghetti junction. I'm looking to build a set of down pipes for an XS 400 that has the twin high side exhaust "Flat track style" and then use some Megaphone silencers as tailpipes.

Hi, can someone tell me if the ignition needs to be ON for the fan to kick in or should it still kick in when the ignition is in the OFF position, ie: should the fan continue to cool the bike even when you've taken the key out until normal temp is reached, thanks, john

  20. Can anyone HELP!! I have a 2008 Yamaha YZF R1 with 6K on the clock and it began a series of loud clicks at low revs on the right-hand side of the engine. After a while it began to misfire and also had a bogged down engine when cold. Now it has a total loss of compression on cylinder 3. I now have the bike in a Yamaha dealers to have the prob investigated..... but my question is.... has anyone else with the same bike had a similar problem?? I did read on a post that a guy who was touring in India with an R1 had the same problem and Yamaha UK flew the parts out so the bike could be sorted. Thanx
