  2. As said in title, the temp gauge went right up, radiator was empty, I filled radiator up and it emptied again when engine didn't even get started, I filled up radiator again and when I started engine, the milky oily water squirts out of the black thing with metal pipe going in above the gearbox, Please help

  3. Hi all, Some technical assistance please. Noticed the reservoir level dropped slightly over night and during my ride to work the level averaged on the minimum (half way mark) but when accelerating it went to maximum. When applying either front or rear brake the level dropped and was just noticeable. Of course coasted to work and called the stealer who can't inspect the bike till tomorrow. Given it's a major safety issue, won't be riding it given the brakes are the most important part. However, can anyone help with that it could be - just in case the dealer tries to fleece me with a major braking/hydraulic system overall. (The bike is a YBR125 custom 2012 …

How easy/difficult is it to replace the (main) throttle cable if anyone knows? Anyone have any instructions anywhere? Mine snapped this afternoon but thankfully it wasn't far from home and I managed to rig the cable to an old screwdriver and limp home!

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, and streetbikes in general. I have 1996 xj600s and I bought if from a friend last week. i rode the bike for 2 days with no problems, on the 3rd day I was walking it backwards out of my car port and we both tripped and fell down. The very same day I tried starting it with the kickstand up which killed it instantly, and it would not start again after that. It turns over but just really weak and slow, after about an hour passed and it cooled down it started again. Ever since then It won't start after its been running for a bit, it's the same thing, it just turns over really slow like the battery is real weak until I let the engine cool for an …

Hi guys, just joined as I've just part-ex'd my old 125 after passing my Das recently at the ripe old age of 37! I'm very happy with my new purchase which zips along beautifully. 25k with loads of history. Is there anything I should be looking out for and is timing chain noise a problem on these as I believe I can hear it a little being mechanically minded ? Thanks for your help

First off, hello all. If you're reading this you probably have an interest in motorcycles, electrical problems, YB100's or horses. Or all. Or electrical horses. Or motorcycling horses. This is an extension to something that was talked about in a recent post, in which I was talking about electrical wiring of the 1989 YB100. On that post, I was asking about colours, and since then, I have wired up all the bike according to the electrical wiring diagram. Apart from one random thin yellow wire coming out of the left 'dash' stalk, that isn't accounted for in the schematic. This is more of a general electrics problem I am having. When I put a battery into the bike, s…

My ignition key has suddenly started jumping out of the barrel whilst I am riding, I don't know what has happened and I nearly lost it, luckily it stayed on the dash area. Is it ball bearings that hold it in place when you put it in the ignition?

Rear brake 'dragging', whether brake is used or not, disc getting very hot, ie; you cant put your hand on it. Caliper has been stripped, cleaned, fitted new seals, replaced anti-rattle shims (which were missing, presumed discarded by previous owner), master cylinder stripped to check for sticking piston, broken spring etc., fluid changed for new. Disc maximum runout is .15mm (approx. .006" in english money) mine is .2mm (.008"). .002" over, can this be enough to generate this amount of heat? or is there something else I can try before blowing a ton on a new disc. I'd be grateful for any good advice. PS; Please dont ask if my foot is resting on the brake lever. Wicked Wi…

Hi Friends, I have got a Yamaha FZS whcih has clocked 11000 kms on the odo and since the time i got my bike serviced at the Yamaha Workshop (10000 kms completed), it's giving me multiple problems. Well, to start with,Engine is making that tic tic sound and although got the Tappet set and service done, the sound of the engine has increased enormously. when i accelerate, the engine knock sound is pretty audible. Yamaha service center chap is saying that the sound is as normal as it should be but i know that it's not what my bike used to be. Secondly, the battery died all of a sudden when i was riding my bike. Nothing was coming to life, not even the Meter console lights, …

Hi all I've got a bit of a dilemma. I own a FZ6 S2 Fazer and it won't start. The bike is 2 years old and I ride it at weekends mosly dry. The symptoms are buzzing as I press the ignition switch and then the display resets itself. I have recently bought a charger as I was having problems before the buzzing. Fully charged (about 13.9 volts, amps 87/88) the bike starts. Anything less (about 13 volts, amps 87/88) and the buzzing starts etc, etc. I have taken the bike for a sevice and asked them to check the charging system as well and they said it was fine but the battery was weak. I have been on various sites trying to narrow down what could be the problem and they all …

My sons 535 has a continuing battery problem. To make matters a bit worse it has a (previously fitted) home fitted set of california lights on the front and the wiring is p***poor. Basically it seem to burn through batteries. Could this be caused by a short in the lighting circuit?. I ve taken at least two batteries out and they have had no electrolyte in them at all. A sign of over charging? . The book says you should have a voltage of between 14.3 and 15.3 at 2000 rpm. I have nt got a rev counter but at tick over its around 12v and at at a guestimate of 2000 rpm it comes in at at about 15 (I know ..how do you guess 2000rpm) at top revs it goes up to about 18 volts......…

Hey guys, This is just a quickie wiring question. I'm currently wiring up the rear light on my bike. Well actually, i've stopped to have dinner. A nice salad, with a cold meats selection. Really nice, you'd like it. It's healthy and appetising. Anyways, I replaced the light on my bike and the colours don't match, I was just wondering if anyone knew which colours matched with which? Old light was Black - Blue - Yellow. New light is Black/White - Red - Black I was thinking, keep black, black and check the others, but im not sure which I should pair up. Any ideas? You'd really like this salad by the way, its light enough to stop you feeling bloated, but filli…

  20. Hi all. Me again. I'm working on my old '78 and I'm still really not sure how far I'm going with this whole thing. A part of me hoped to find some easy quick fix to get her back on the road. Now I'm thinking more and more that I might have to go much deeper and do a full restoration or at least much closer to it. The biggest thing that I am intimidated by right now is rusty nuts on the exhaust and cylinder head. I'm afraid I cannot remove them without breaking bolts, and where that would leave me. I am very new to doing all of this type of work - I did have some expience recently with broken bolts when I was working on the seat's mounting brackets. I broke two …
