As per my other posts, I've still not managed to get my XVS 125 going and missing the summer sun : ( Having gone through various 'causes' of her problem, she is now back together and starts up fine. Whilst idling, she sounds like she is wobbling slightly instead of a steady tone. I have just taken her for a spin and I'm still struggling to get out of first gear before she cuts out completely. Things I've done so far: Changed plugs, oil and oil filter. Cleaned out air filter. Checked throttle cable. Removed tank and checked fuel lines and petcock. Sealed the silencer carb junction with gasket seal. Sealed cracks in carb manifold (very minor), with gasket seal. Removed …

I have just come back from Tesco where I spotted Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T OIL on offer for £3 a litre! The only problem is the oil is 10w40 and my bike takes 10w30. There was about 30 litres, and as I am going to change my oil regularly from now on I really could do with buying the lot. Will it make a difference if I use 10w40 instead of 10w30? Please can someone explain it to me.

The front brake light switch on my bike has packed in now for the third time. Could there be a reason that is causing this to happen? I bought the replacements from eBay and they do seem a bit flimsy, but what else are they going to make them out of, apart from plastic? I'm sick of changing them now, but obviously it's my brake light so I can't not replace it. Surely it can't be normal to for it to keep breaking.

My girlfriend has half outgrown her 2003 TTR125l. So we are talking about whether she should upgrade to something like a yz125 or mod the TTR. It is bone stock as it sits. Prior to her it was a field bike used for herding sheep(scarier than a barking dog I'd imagine). So I'd like some opinions and it seems like you UK guys are Nuts for the 125's. So what are the best bang for the buck mods? Mainly interested in engine and suspension? Thanks for any insight. -Dave

Ok, so most everything seems to be working well. I'm sure I have my headlight issue fixed (loose wires under the seat) and I've changed a LOT of parts. My current issues is a lack of power or hesitation when the engine is cold. So, from a cold start, no matter what the daily temps are, I need to use the "fuel enrichment" lever to get it to start. But I have to let it run for some time to fully heat up otherwise when I try and go it hesitates and will sometimes die. Even once it's warmed up a little and I don't need the choke anymore for it to run at idle, when I give it a little throttle the engine acts like I cut fuel and it hesitates and wants to die. It's not until aft…

My battery died on me today. forgot to turn off my lights on my 1987 yamaha virago xv1100. right now it has a everstart motorcycle battery ES50-n18l-2 (50-n18l-2) (50-n18l-3) I bought a schumacher 2a-4a-6a charger 72w. Is this right? 1) was told to trickle(slow) charge it and use the 2amp setting. 2)to fill the batter with distilled water since its almost at the Low Level mark. 3)also while charging to leave the caps open so no gases build up inside my question is i have 7 opening on this battery. 6 chambers across but the 7th one is right under the 4th one. i included a picture so u can see do i add distilled water to all . is the 4th one and the 7th one shar…

Sorry, I think I placed my query in the "Bar" initially. Anyway, here it is in the correct area. How do I remove the front forks from the Zeal which hasn't got a centre-stand? There doesn't seem a suitable point to jack the front of the bike to do the job! My thoughts are ~ Make up a dummy side-stand for the opposite side! Not sure where balance point is! Pass a solid bar through a gap in the frame (tank removed) and support it on two saw-horses. Help is needed ... RegardZ.

I have noticed recently that there is a huge air blow back through the air cleaner when i left a cover screw off. The air becomes much more obvious when revving the engine. I have Booyesens reeds installed and they are sealing properly from what I could observe. Is this normal for a 2-stroke or is there a fix of some kind? Is this detremental to the bikes performance? Any suggestions?

After changing the oil in my XT 125 X 4T yesterday the gears have become very stiff and hard to change. It is almost impossible to find neutral unless I turn the engine off. Before I changed the oil the gears were smooth and were no problem at all.

I am planning to convert my RS100 from 6 volts to 12 in a few months. On a vintage British bikes forum I read that stators are easily modified by rewiring and adding a zener diode with a heat sink . Another Idea I read somewhere was recoiling the stator to generate 12V, and the third idea I have contemplated is ordering a kit from dynapower in germany. http://www.powerdyna...7038/38pack.jpg which is a bit pricey, so I would prefer to know more about the first two options before making a decision. I have the bike in Chile, where there are places that recoil stators. It is currently running but weak headlight, and no turn signals, unless I charge the battery ext…

  16. Hi I am new to this so please bare with me please I have a 2010 ybr 125 I got it about a year old with 2000 miles on it now I have about 4400 miles. I did the value clearances as they should have been done at 3750 miles say the Haynes manual. I first made a mistake and gaps where far to big. I did again and it was better but not perfect. Then I got the right set of feelers gauges and the did it again it sounds better but not perfect. I was wondering if it could have something to do with when the person who was hleping accidently turned the engine clockwise not anticlockwise that it tells you to do in Haynes manual so could the cam chain tensioner needs setting …

Well I finally got round to doing an oil change on my little XT. It went pretty smoothly apart from the last bolt on the sump guard threading, (surprise fookinf surprise!). I lost my rage and just hammered the fooker off, it was badly corroded anyway. I have just bought a new one from eBay, so my bike won't be sumpless for long. I filled her up with nice new Castrol and it looked really nice and clean as I poured it in. The old oil I removed was very black and a little thick. There was no sludge or flakes in it, so the engine is fine. I'm doing it every three months from now on. Hopefully I can notice a positive change in the bike as well. The guy who had the bike previou…

ok so i have been doing some looking and research and i have not seen anything that helps. let me start off by saying, i have a 06 ttr 125 that the choke plunger is seized in the carb. now with that said i was just looking for a new carb, well easier said than done. there are not very many out there for the 06 at a reasonable price, however i have found many new 00-04 that are a little different. my question is.... does anyone know of any reasons that i can not put the 00-04 carb on the 06. i am not an expert when it comes to bikes, but im not stupid either. i was a mechanic for cars, boats, big diesel, and lawn mowers for quite a few years professionally, so if i need…

Hi guys, I have a 2010 YBR 125, I've had it for a few months now and no real problems so far. Recently though I have been having a problem changing up, I pull the clutch in, go for the lever and it is just comlpletely loose and it seems like there is no gear there, if i briefly engage the clutch and then pull it back in again it seems to make it work. I am a car mechanic and don't know alot about bike gearboxes, but could it be whatever it is that is on the end of the lever, missing something in the gearbox? if that makes sense.....probably doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
