Got some fairly hefty scratches on the tank of the XJ6 (tank bag related). As it's a metallic blue (2009/10 bike), I'm a bit reluctant to use T-cut. Does anyone have any recommendations for polish that will sit over the scratches, rather than taking the paint back?

Hi all. Does humidity affect our engines? The reason I ask is I have a Yamaha YT125 Tri-Moto (DT125 engine just detuned a bit) and I've noticed on humid days that it runs a bit different. The humidity has been between 70-80% for the last month so. When it is humid it doesn't like to idle and will only start if the throttle is slightly cracked open, and above 3/4 throttle it likes to cut out and just doesn't seem to have the power it usually does. On a non humid day it day it will start right up and idle all day, and doesn't cut out above 3/4 throttle. At full throttle on a humid day I can hear it struggling to suck air. It's all stock running the factory air box and filte…

Morning I recently purchased a Yamaha XC 125 TR Cygnus 2010 and noticed in the manual which came with it that it recommend that I use yamalube. I decided to have a look on-line and noticed that they offered both a fully and semi synthetic oil and I am not sure which one I should go for. I was wondering if anyone would be be able to help me Regards Glen Roberts

Hi, I have bought a Yamaha DT50 MX but it needs a new barrel and piston, the bike in in great condition otherwise, completely original so I have decided it is worth doing, the problem is that the engine is from a Yamaha RX50, and as im sure you know are rare, so you cant get parts for them and you cant get the engines, does anyone on here have any suggestions as to what I could do and what my options are getting this bike back on the road? I am new to this so I don't know what options I have, I have considered a replacement engine but not sure what fits the frame, or any barrels and pistons that would fit the RX50 engine? either 50 or 80 cc. Thanks in advance and any advi…

Hi all I am still having trouble with my 1977 XS250 starting. The bike is a standard 250 with matching engine and frame numbers but has 400 barrels and head, the carbs are standard 250. First of all I was convinced it was the carbs but after exhaustive work on them and speaking to other people I am now not so sure. My last efforts were to remove the starter motor and have it checked, that was ok. Then someone who used to own one and had done the same 400 top end swap suggested changing the condenser(s). I done this Saturday and still no joy. Any theories would be welcome as I am running out of ideas.

Peeps, the sh*t has hit the proverbial fan... ive been looking everywhere for the title and paperwork i had for project FUCR (Yamaha LB80 chappy) when i bought it over in 'murica... Its due to arrive on our shores mid December, and i will have to register it within 2 weeks to avoid being fined, but without the title i am well and truly up sh*t creek, will i still be able to register it without the title? im assuming i will need a dating certificate or something.

hi all I've just replaced the the fork stanchion on a friends ybr 125. All was going well until the bottom Allen screw needed to be undone, it just spun round without undoing. So the damper rod needed holding from inside needing a special tool, or in this case not, I just put two long 1/2" drive socket extensions together and the square end of one locked the damper rod perfectly. Just wanted to get the info out there so someone else could benefit.

Fancied a little bike to relive my youth and came across the TZR 50 and loved it's looks so much I bought it (wasn't even looking for a 50), went out on it with a friend of mine on his restored 350lc and found my little ped actually flew and was going faster than the speedo would tell me. It hits a powerband in every gear at 6000 rpm and he clocked me at 64mph going into the red in top gear (had a bit left in it but I didn't want to hold it in the red). Anyway my question is is my flying ped likely to have had a big bore kit fitted somewhere down the line or can this be achieved with the stock motor?

Folks I'm looking for recommendations for a heavy duty bike cover. I need to take the bike out the shed for a few weeks and the weather up here is shit. I bought an Oxford cover last year and it didnt last the pace. The silver coloured material (for those who know) ended up shredded with just a little wind

hi. I took my side case off on the gear side as my starter motor had disingaged from the starter gear. When I took case off I found that there was oil on my stator and flywheel. Not much but enough to coat like gravy. This could have got in there by me taking casing off. I have never known oil to be here? I thought there might be a seal behind the flywheel that has gone but at present I haven't been able to get the flywheel nut off to have a look. It's on there tight. So my question is, is this normal for this bike to have oil in with the stator/ flywheel. Cheers for any help. Ian

  17. I have a 1996 Yamaha YZF750r that's in truly good condition. On a cold start the choke needs to be engaged, no problem, the bike warms up and I can close the choke after a minute or so. The bike idles fine. I also noticed that even after I've ridden the bike for an hour, if I leave it sit for 10 minutes, then restart, I need to apply full choke otherwise the bike will stall. Plugs are clean, oil is clean and there's no hesitation (acceleration / deceleration is smooth) while riding. Just curious to know if anyone's experienced something similar and what to check for. Appreciate any suggestions!

Hi all, first time posting here. I recently bought a YB100 (1980). It is mechanically sound but needs a bit of TLC. In particular, I noticed that the indicator lights do not flash - instead, they just stay lit like a headlight would. I can turn them individually on and off with the switch as normal but they do not flash. All other electrics seem to work fine. In the Haynes manual for the YB100 it mentions a part called the flasher relay, which is supposed to make the indicators flash. So today I took the left hand cover off the bike to see if the relay needed cleaning or replacing. When I looked at the electronics, I found that there appeared to be no flasher relay at all…
