The Bike: 1989 DT200 (2 stroke dual sport). Liquid cooled, kick start, basically a liquid cooled Blaster 200 engine with a powervlave. The Issue: Doesn’t run, just sputters, backfires and dies. History: Was running mint. Non-starting issue was an intermittent problem, but it hasn’t been running for about 2 months now, so I think the problem’s here to stay. It will start up first kick, sputter for an exciting 5 seconds, backfire and die. Engine is non-responsive while it's doing it's 5 second sputtering routine. What I’ve Checked/Done: Compression: Running about 200psi. Spark: Plenty of spark at the plug when I kick it over. Spark will jump a 7mm gap. Nice …

Picked up my new XVS 1300 custom today, first new bike for about 35 years, only managed a short ride today but will be going for a decent ride tomorrow. Its amazing how different it is to ride compared to the 1300 midnight star that I had and funny being back with pegs again. Only disappointments are my solo seat and rack hasn't been delivered yet and that really crappy quiet exhaust, I mean come on Yamaha its a V twin its meant to be fucking LOUD, looks like I'll be changing or modding them sometime real soon.

Yamaha have set-up a Yard Built dealer contest to promote a bit of healthy competition in their network. Best bit is, many of the parts developed and used on these bikes will soon be available over the counter.

Hi I have added a little engine oil in my bike but it looks like it has now gone over the max line. Do I have to drain a bit out or will it be OK? It's mixed reviews when I search for it but most say drain off. I'm new to motorbikes and to have mine repaired just cost me near £600. Manifold, front brake disc and pads, carb clean, new front wheel, gasket, o-rings, but my bike was a little spluttering after all the work and my engine oil looked low, thought the garage was pulling a fast one to get more work out of me. I'm trying to find a manual online so I can start repairing myself. Any advice please

Loket may have remodelled their layout to include a new jump and corner section and moved the start gate back to the original position but the course was still stony and slippery and tested the full range of a rider's feel for traction and grip. The technical edge was increased by the hard-pack around what is otherwise a flowing and relatively easy racing course. Watched by 24,000 spectators Febvre set-off from his second Pole Position of the season won through Saturday's Qualification Heat. He settled into second place behind Evgeny Bobryshev and bided his time until the Russian slightly dropped his pace before taking control on lap six. From there Romain built a comfo…

These guys have been following me about and making me feel uneasy. I'm sure they want to drag me in the bushes and have their way with me. To feel a bit safer I have bought a rape alarm. Only joking. I saw somewhere ages ago (probably on here) that rigging a rape alarm to your bike makes a good little security device. I managed to get one from somewhere but lost it. I found it yesterday at the back of some drawers so I'm going to rig it up to my bike. It will wake me up if it goes off. They're a great cost effective form of security. You can even probably get one for free.

Can anyone tell me what happened to the "Garage" and "My Bikes" section that used to be on here? Only noticed it as I wanted to delete the FJ as I've sold it! But if it's no longer available then I will not have to bother.

Sorry but I'm really pis**d off, with Yamaha's, I bought this Thundercat (1999 model) in what appeared to be in very good all round condition, 13,300 miles from an N. Ireland dealer, it's the only 2nd Yamaha I've owned in 50+ years of biking, went out on the second ride and the nearside oil seal blew, and it has never happend with the Honda's or Kawasaki's I've had. I stripped it down and the garage fitted new original Yamaha oil seals both sides, great, went out again for a run and on the second time, it blew again. So not best pleased especially as the mechanic said it could be the fork bushes this time, and those could have been done first time.. methinks al…

I've found a 1999 XVS650 classic for £1500 with 20,000 miles on it. I remember someone posting on here about checking monoshocks after a certain distance. Is there any other specifics to look out for as it seems a bit cheap? Has FSH and is used daily.

The struggle keeps on going, been in contact with the DMV in Wisconsin to see if they had any history on the chop but their records are only kept for about 5 years and my frame number (custom made up one) wasn't found on their database so where un able to help further. So i thought to try the DVLA and see what i could get to gain this age related plate to which they came back with: The following documents are acceptable to allocate an age related mark to an American imported vehicle that is presented for registration: • Certificate of Origin • Certificate of Title • Certificate of Sale • Certificate of Lien Sale Do any of you know of how i can get one of those? All i ha…
