  1. Started by jimmy,

When my auldest boy turned 16 we got him a reiju 50 (minarelli engine same as Yam use, so on topic) and at 22 he is still riding. Unfortunately he cannot put a nut in a monkeys mouth because I have done all the maintenance / repairs on the 3 bikes he has owned. My youngest will turn 14 in the summer and I'm thinking of picking up an auld DT 50 (or similar). That way he can help me restore it in time for his 16th and in doing so, pick up a bit of tinkering knowledge. I assume parts are easy to come by, and there would be no rush. Thoughts anyone???

Hi everyone, silly question time, I have been trying to remove rust and polish The old stock exhaust on my Yamaha dragster 1100. This is a test as I have new exhaust on the bike, I have noticed that the rear of the old exhaust is not mirror finish chrome not sure if it was like that normally or excessive polishing has dulled it. tried to take a photo as below. or maybe not as cannot upload photos for some reason. not a bad result looks much better

My YBR Custom 125 is just under 19k old, and over the last 800 miles or so I've noticed the gearbox go from relatively smooth to a clunk that radiates through the entire bike. I know older bikes get clunky and rattle a bit more, but this clunk is almost violent in comparison to how it used to be. Should I be worried? I'm going to try adjusting my clutch cable since the bite zone is almost at the end of the throw. The engine is relatively well looked after, serviced regularly and not really ragged more than any other bike.

I've recently brought a Yamaha Xt125x 09 plate and its been fine for a week but the other day I rode about 20miles, stopped off at the shop in my village and then rode down towards my house about 20secs down the road with the choke on because I like to start it with the choke on and forgot to take it off again but anyway I got 20secs down the road and it just bogged out and died. After a trying to start a few times it went using the kick start so I thought it was fine except when I pressed the electric start it made a buzzing noise from under the seat (i have very few mechanical skills so not sure what it is hence this post) I rode it home and then about an hour later I w…

Hello all, still pretty new to having a proper motorbike, a wr125x, compared to the mopeds I've had previous! So, I've just used up the last of my chain lube... I'm rather confused as to what brand/type is the best for this horrible English weather! What do you guys use for winter time? I ride everyday about 20 miles or so to work and back everyday so I'm cleaning and lubing up the chain every few days or so! thanks guys!!

Ok, I was talking to a biker at one of my deliveries. Proud as punch of his Iron butt achievements like riding from the midlands, down on the m5 to the 50, across to the m4 back to the m25, take the long way round then up the a1 till you hit the 62, across to the m6 back to the start. Called the four corners apparently. Done in under 24hrs, apparently (if I remembered the route) over 1000miles in under 24 hrs. I admire the sheer mental strength to do something so utterly soul destroying. I'm not being underhand I told him it sounded massively fucking boring and he agreed, he said it was the guys with him that made it great, which is what motorc…

  12. Hello I'm just wondering if anyone could help me as I was riding my Yamaha Xt125x the other day and it randomly decided to bog out and die. I thought it might be because I was a little low on fuel and was riding with the choke on at the time. After a bit of fiddling I have managed to get it started fine (with kick start only) but then 20mins later I tried again and the button start worked and started first time so I've rode home and locked it away for the night but when I went out the next morning there was nothing and wouldn't start on either kick start or button start all the lights are on but when you use the button start they all dim maybe even go out and something (a…

Has anybody got blind spot mirrors fitted? Been on motorway loads of times but this week on the M4 I thought what a difference it would make to have blind spot mirrors rather than craning my neck every time I wanted to overtake a Porsche vehicle.

My ignition barrel is wearing out, it keeps getting stuck in the locked position, one day it's just gonna get stuck like that, it needs to be replaced. I'm wondering how much it'll cost, anyone else had there's replaced? The bikes a YBR Custom if that helps. I was going to do it myself like I do everything else, turns out they use fucking shear bolts to hold them in.

  19. Got bored and while mooching around Android looking for cheapo Motorcycle helmet speakers, found a rechargeable, Stereo Headset with full Android and iPhone compatible Pairing with good reviews at £12. Here's a link Link to cheapo headset It looked like it might fit, so I bought one - after all, if it all went pear-shaped I would be down a bit over a tenner, if not . . . Here's the result We stab it with our steely knives, Then we smash it all to bits! (Apologies to Smash). It came apart pretty easily, the wires linking the speakers and battery across the headband were pretty ta…

Hello guys, just picked up a wicked little thing! its an Oxford disc brake lock/alarm, payed roughly £35. Very loud at 100db, very good quality for money too! It's very sensitive as well, I put my key in the ignition and it goes off, Thought I'd post it up for anyone who's looking for a cheap little deterrent!! http://www.halfords.com/motoring/motorcycling/motorcycle-security/oxford-screamer-alarm-disc-lock.
