  2. Right, I /NEED/ a new barrel and piston, as in I can't get to college without my bike. A new barrel and piston from Yamaha (sit down for this big fucking surprise) is gonna cost well over £300, obviously I can't afford this. There are other, aftermarket barrels available on eBay, generally range from £38 to £50. What do you think of them? Obviously they're shitty Chinese rubbish, but how bad do you think they really are? Keep in mind that without the bike I'm basically stranded on top of a tiny village in the middle of bum-fuck-nowhere in north Wales. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cylinder-Barrel-Piston-Kit-For-YAMAHA-YBR125-YBR-125-Cylindre-/321946041092?hash=…

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting an xv950r or xv950, but the clock is really putting me off as it's ugly, useless and doesn't suit the bike. Gas anyone also found this, and knows if the clock can be changed for a speedo with tach and indicator displays, fuel gauge etc. Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk

Morning I'm having difficulty locating the adjuster parts at the handlebar lever end of the clutch cable. The penny sized disc seems threaded and the part the cable end screws onto may be a bit bent too. I've got a new cable but I can't find these two little parts. Any ideas or am I being stupid?

  9. Hello everyone, A while ago I moved from Spain to the UK and settled down in West Yorkshire. I've been driving here for many years on business trips, but only on four wheels. Every country I lived in so far had a different code of behaviour for riders (not necessarily bound by law), and I'd like to understand the do's and don'ts specific to the UK. My main questions: 1. During rush hour traffic, is it acceptable to ride between slowly-moving car lanes? What the Americans call lane-splitting. Will it attract negative attention from the police or other road users? Any difference between local roads and highways in that respect? 2. In simi…

I'm working on a small engine that has low compression when turning it over by hand, seems to be low on power and mucks the oil up quickly. I'm guessing low compression due to worn rings/bore/piston. Anyway, since it's a shitty little engine and I don't wanna spend the cash on a new cylinder I'm wondering if I I could get away with just honing the cylinder? Or would a bore and an oversize piston be a better idea? (If that's cheaper than a new cylinder)

Anyone know of a good place to buy tyres online? The place I usually go seems content to sell me shite tyres for the same cost as anything else you can fine. Front tyre is looking a bit sorry for itself and down to only 2mm

There are two tyres, one is 300-18, and the other is 3.00-18. What does that actually mean? Are they the same? Are they different? What's the difference between a 300 and a 3.00? This is probably a stupid question, but everyone learns somehow.

So I've finally passed my test and looking to step up to my first 'big bike'. I reckon the FZ6 is a great place to start out; smooth & tourquey 4 cylinder (the configuration that I trained on) plus a 'sports-touring' design and upright riding position; good for the long-distance trips I plan to cover on some occasions (and favourable insurance prices to boot), plus enough power so I won't get bored after learning the ropes So anyway I've found a great offer at a dealer whose offering an S2 model; low mileage, great condition & for a decent price. Here my dilemma begins: the bike was originally imported from Spain as a parallel import [equivalent model avai…

Hello all, never used a forum for advice before but this bike is getting on my nerves I have a dt125r 2003 I recently bought as a non runner, I rebuilt the engine all new seals and bearing and gaskets. The bike will run fine with the choke out but as soon as I take the choke off it won't tick over or even Rev! I have had the carb striped and cleaned (all fine). Reed block and reeds are fine. New piston and rings (barrel is fine) compression is good anyone had this problem before? Many infomation would be helpful thanks

Hello! new to the site... and to bikes I just bought a Yamaha RS100 1976, its seen better days but I wanted a project bike anyway. Its with this I need your help. I was told the RXS shares most of the same parts and I was wondering if I were to buy a 1993 RXS, just how transferable would the parts be? and then also the same question for a RS100 1985? I greatly appreciate any information and advice you can give me! Thanks Cal My Bike

OK lads, having rebuilt the bike and fitted all new ignition from CDI,coils, leads, plugs and caps.I bought a set of used carbs as the originals were butchered (at least the mixture screws were stripped by someone using a far too small driver i suspect)and one of the slides had a hairline crack in it.I also bought a used stainless high flow exhaust and fitted that, along with high flow air filter. So after some advice from the internet I fitted an upgrade kit of stage one tuning jets.larger main and larger pilot and raised the needle a notch. Now the bike runs very rich and was very hesitant from standstill until I drilled some holes in the rear plate of the silencers. She now …

Afternoon chaps and chapettes, quick query. Went to get fork seals replaced at the weekend and came across a 2005 1100 Dragstar with under 15,000 on the clock. Bloke has it up for four and a half grand, but may take 3 if I p/x the xvs125. What do you think, worth investigating further?
