These guys have been following me about and making me feel uneasy. I'm sure they want to drag me in the bushes and have their way with me. To feel a bit safer I have bought a rape alarm. Only joking. I saw somewhere ages ago (probably on here) that rigging a rape alarm to your bike makes a good little security device. I managed to get one from somewhere but lost it. I found it yesterday at the back of some drawers so I'm going to rig it up to my bike. It will wake me up if it goes off. They're a great cost effective form of security. You can even probably get one for free.

Can anyone tell me what happened to the "Garage" and "My Bikes" section that used to be on here? Only noticed it as I wanted to delete the FJ as I've sold it! But if it's no longer available then I will not have to bother.

Sorry but I'm really pis**d off, with Yamaha's, I bought this Thundercat (1999 model) in what appeared to be in very good all round condition, 13,300 miles from an N. Ireland dealer, it's the only 2nd Yamaha I've owned in 50+ years of biking, went out on the second ride and the nearside oil seal blew, and it has never happend with the Honda's or Kawasaki's I've had. I stripped it down and the garage fitted new original Yamaha oil seals both sides, great, went out again for a run and on the second time, it blew again. So not best pleased especially as the mechanic said it could be the fork bushes this time, and those could have been done first time.. methinks al…

I've found a 1999 XVS650 classic for £1500 with 20,000 miles on it. I remember someone posting on here about checking monoshocks after a certain distance. Is there any other specifics to look out for as it seems a bit cheap? Has FSH and is used daily.

The struggle keeps on going, been in contact with the DMV in Wisconsin to see if they had any history on the chop but their records are only kept for about 5 years and my frame number (custom made up one) wasn't found on their database so where un able to help further. So i thought to try the DVLA and see what i could get to gain this age related plate to which they came back with: The following documents are acceptable to allocate an age related mark to an American imported vehicle that is presented for registration: • Certificate of Origin • Certificate of Title • Certificate of Sale • Certificate of Lien Sale Do any of you know of how i can get one of those? All i ha…

Finally passed my mod 2 and despite half hearted promises (mainly to the mrs) about keeping the ybr's fuel economy and cheap parts it just doesn't feel right after riding an xj6! I'm on a bit of a budget and have seen a few of the older xj600n's knocking around on eBay and auto Trader at a bargain price. For people that have owned them, are they fairly decent year-round commuters, or would I be better off trying to wait for a mid mileage fz6 or (if it's not swearing to mention on here) a S**uki SV or Bandit? Are there any common issues I should be looking out for if I buy one? Looking on Google it seems like the exhausts are quite expensive to replace. For selli…

Well I resisted as long as possible but I relapsed, 57miles was all she got as a run in. Then stayed under 7500 for the next couple of hundred. Job done now, today was the first full fat 'Oh that's why you ride a two stoke' moment. Many more to come, I hope. Second thing, thought the bike looked a little flat, even after I had given it a clean. So at the suggestion of my neighbour (has some show and shine trophies from car meets) took all the polish off with some blue stuff from the US he lent me. Then gave it a good seeing to with some pigmented wax, again from Lee next door. WOW Looks amazing, much deeper colour and shine. Apparently polish/wax can go a bit off if it bu…

After rebuilding my Genesis, I am now at the point where I am ready to start making her look pretty. Although the FZR600 is/was a fairly common bike, im seeing fewer and fewer parts for them, and lately simple things like a "clutch return spring" I had to get from a main dealership. So my next question is this really...... should I be looking to get a new full set of plastics, or just get the old ones repaired..... and where the HELL can I get a replacement set of pipes where they have the balancer's at the back of the Header down pipes? Side note, I am getting pretty annoyed with all the damn shops that keep asking me if its an EXUC...... or then telling me the eng…

Necessity meant that I travelled 700 miles on the XJ this weekend [a wedding on Sunday up in Aviemore]. My butt was killing me by the end. Didn't help that I didn't really have the option of time for a scenic route. Although, the A9 did have some gorgeous sights once you got north of Perth. That seat isn't designed for long distances. I may have to get a bagster replacement [or similar]. I'll never manage an Iron Butt on the stock seat. But far too often I'd glance down and go "well, that isn't 70mph. Ahem"

Hello all. I'm after a 'cheap' (sub £50) Summer jacket. I have Armour with my current jacket so just looking for something lightweight and breezy, with fairly decent protection for my commute to work. Maybe I'm asking for the impossible with this budget, but after my CBT in March, I went out and bought a load of winter kit, so now I'm bloody roasting Not sure if I can link (think I can!) but something like "Gearx Aircon Summer Motorcycle Jacket Waterproof CE Protection All sizes" for around £50 seems a good deal, but is it to good to be true? Any ideas would be most welcome!

I've found that as you get older time seems to pass that much quicker - until now! Waiting on my XJ6 to get delivered and it's taking too long. Lol.

Hi, I'm a Newbie here and first time owning a Yamaha having had many other makes in many years of biking, I recently purchased a Yamaha Thundercat on E Bay from a bike shop in N. Ireland, which would come with a U.K. plate. it seemed a good deal at the time,They didnt want me to use Debit ot Credit card, Once the bank transfer was sent, I was informed the bike would be delivered to my door, which it was a week later with a plate which I thought was the official plate, found out later it was a I.of Man plate and the dvlc dont recognise I of Man plates, After I badgered them It was said the paperwork and request for a V5 and U.K. (aka English) plate. was sent about 3 we…
