Spent the day out on my bike today, did about 260 miles which for me is a lot as I usually only do 50 or 60 miles at a time, maybe I'm just getting old or perhaps its my skinny arse that's got no padding on it but even with my big kickarse seat on my bike my arse is suffering. How the hell did Bippo manage the iron butt challenge?

Hi All I would love to put springer style seating on my Midnight star (XVS950a) but need to keep two seats as I regularly carry passengers. Does anyone know if you can put a springer style seat on the rear? If so, how? Cheers Marc

I've grown well accustomed to seeing Red Light Jumping [RLJ] cyclists while on the road. Those total and utter turd monkeys, who think the laws don't apply to them and are a statistic waiting to happen. This morning, there was an interesting outcome from one. As he flew past a red light perpendicular to a motorway on-ramp [where cars would very likely be accelerating up to 70mph...], he caused the car on one side of him, and the lorry [that was blocking his view of traffic that would be joining the motorway] to think the red light had changed, and they jumped the light too. It's only sheer luck that there was no carnage involved. For those that may know the area …

Hi all, We're featuring DT50MX restorers in our regular 'I restored a...' slot in Practical Sportsbikes magazine and I wondered if any of you who have restored one would be kind enough to share some of your experiences with your project. It would involve a chat on the phone (or email if you prefer) and you being able to send a high res photo of yourself with the bike to go with your words of wisdom. We're after hints/tips/advice/techniques - anything that might tempt someone to have a go themselves. If you'd be up for helping out, you can contact me via email at [email protected] or on 07875 736021. If you prefer, send me a contact number and I'll happily cal…

Hey folks, just me having a waffle. I started my CBT instructor training on Tuesday and today was my third day out of 6 so pretty much gone half way through and my god how flipping hard is it!! Now i done my CBT just over 4 years ago and thought it was an eye opener, bit boring till i got on the bike and a bit of a mind fuck when we got going. But after doing the big boys test and learning all the "bad habits" then going back to do this instructor training i never actually realised how hard it really is, not only to pass the CBT but to do it so perfectly that you show a novice how to ride a bike for the first time. Tomorrow im on a road ride in the morning an…

Brilliant ride out today in the sunshine to the new forrest where I spent the day with my eldest and his other half but on the way home in the dark 4 or 5 deer came out of nowhere like bats out of hell and lept across the road in front of me and behind me, fuck knows how they missed me.

Here is my eldest with his friends 2 year old who just loves bikes, as soon as I arrived at the camp site he couldn't wait to get on my bike, he would have stayed on it all day long if we let him. To his dads dismay when he was asked if my bike was better than dads he replied yes its much better but then his dad does ride a Pan European.

Hi guys! First post here so hello to everyone! So to get straight to it, I want to convert my XVS 125 Dragstar to a Bobber and I just wanted to ask if anyone else has done it and weather they ran into any particular issues or tricky bits? I'm going to keep it suspended on the back, not hartailing it. Thinking of cutting the rear mudguard frame off just after the first "ridge" so that the custom mudguard going on there will have a bit more support, though i'm not sure yet. Thanks for any help guys, when I have pictures I'll post them up on here Cheers Again! Adam

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum hope you can help. I have just bought my 1993 Virago 1100 from a friend who wasn't well enough to ride it, he told me that there was an issue with the battery which was causing starting problems. Sadly he is no longer with us so I can't correct him on this. On taking a closer look it appears to be the starter bendix which causing the problem, this looks easy enough to replace but the problem is I cant locate as source other than in the USA and as my car is also busted I don't really want to wait till its shipped from the U.S. I can probably order this from my local Yamaha dealer but was hoping to order it online today. Does anyone know a…

At last we have some nice weather! It's been lovely this past two days, I have been able to go out and actually enjoy riding my bike. It has been a miserable year riding in the rain and snow and it has been a massive downer. The rain never seemed to stop.

In race two Brookes was again fighting with the leading pack, however as Ryuichi Kiyonari (BMW) crashed out in front of him he was forced to take evasive action. Brookes held the Milwaukee Yamaha across the grass and rejoined, but dropped drastically down the order. A strong run of consistent fast laps but Brookes back up into sixth position and holding fourth in the overall standings. Parkes was determined to make improvements for the second race, but he crashed out at Goddards. Josh Brookes Race 1: 3rd / Race 2: 6th / Championship position: 4th "We've been in and out of the pits all weekend and all through testing trying to fast track the learning of the bike - for …

Hi My local dealer replaced the pads on my YPR250. Now they've worn down a bit they constantly rattle. I've had a look and the shims are there and the retaining brackets. Has anyone experienced similar and what resolved it? Many thanks Weejockie.
