We have had a good few sunny days but remember to be careful out there. Yesterday there was a collision outside of one of the places I work between a motorbike and a cyclist. The cyclist has died and the biker was critical, last I heard. This was 100 yards from an A&E, major trauma, hospital where your chances of survival are going to be much better. The accident was not a pretty sight - I was on my way from that hospital to the other one I work in. Hospital staff on their way to work left their cars and assisted immediately but the cyclist died. Just a reminder that things happen very quickly; sun or no sun.

TomTom seem to be having a fire sale on their map updates, I assume it's to counter the increasing number of satnavs that come with 'free' lifetime updates out of the box. The last time I checked TomTom wanted over £40 for a UK & ROI update, now down to £14.95 and using the discount code Welcome15_uk I got another £8 off. Shame the powered mount crapped out last week and they don't seem to make replacements for the Rider v2 any longer. Still with a full charge it's likely that my back will fail before the Satnav runs out of charge.

Well, like any good biker, who wants to do their own repairs, the time comes to start building up a toolkit. I currently only have a selection of sockets and wrenches in the usual sizes, to do the most basic of work [which inevitably needs help in putting it back right again ], but what should I start thinking about getting next? What would be your top 5 [no need for all 5] of tools you make the most use out of? Order by priority if you feel. I'm currently thinking a decent torque wrench should be next on the list [but those aren't exactly cheap] Edit(s): So far we have, in no order... A fucking great big hammer Torque wrench(es) Impact wrench Feele…

Heya, Bit of a weird one, but after many years of wearing leathers I'm finally trying out textiles. M&P had a sale, so I grabbed me some discounted trews to go with my jacket. However... When worn on their own, the trousers get all clammy inside and feel like I'm wearing old plastic waterproofs on bare skin. When worn with the quilted liner, they are insanely hot and itchy. Same for having jeans on underneath. I thought it was just because they were £50 cheapies so tried a friend's £150 RST ones, but they're the same too... So the question is - What do y'all wear under yer textiles while remaining comfy?

As part of the doing away with the paper licences you can now check your driving icence details online you will need your national insurance number , if you dont know your driving licence number you can get away without that , it tells you exactly what you can drive and how many points you may have https://www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number

Just a quick question folks, on the FJ I have the standard centre stand it's ok but you really have to haul the bike up and over the tipping point to get it on the stand, now I have a back injury which means that it hurts when I try to lift the thing, I can do it but it's uncomfortable, so my query is, can I chop a lump out of the uprights to bring the tipping point lower down, so that I can more or less roll the bike onto the stand rather than lift it on. There are 2 ways I'm thinking of doing it, one is to chop out the centre of the stand by about an inch then re-weld the 2 halves together, two is to chop the foot part off and then weld 2 new plates onto the stand feet,…

Just to say that I took the FJ in for it's MOT today and it sailed through (sorry Foams) so I'm now ready to take to the roads again, really looking forward to this year as it's the first time the bike will be without any faults that need fettling. Got the new Oil filter conversion on it which is great as I now don't have to take half the bike apart to get a new filter on and the carbs are properly balanced new tyres make a real difference even tho SWMBO had a fit when I told her what they cost. Happy days.

So, a new bike brings new fun things. Like a parking light. That can be left on all day. And drain the battery. *sigh*

Hi, I've heard that trimming some of the reed valve block on DT125X helps flow & with new carbon reed valves too. Has any members done or heard of this trick? Thanks
