  1. I moan at £10 for a trim and often do it myself - grade 1 or 0 all over. Cheap and easy to look after without helmet hair. I tried trimming the dog a couple of months back to save a bit if cash and missed bits here and there and shaved him elsewhere. So here's £35 worth of wash, cut and dry:

  2. guilty. Chances are, somewhere someone on this forum has read this and is probably going to try it, part of me wants to see if it will work, part of me is trying to convince the other part of me that no matter how i look at it i am still going to be crouched in the street playing with a dog turd, its like being a child all over again.

  3. Well here's a little update... Most / all of you were right. I've been riding for a few hours every day and absolutely loving it. However... power. I dread approaching hills! My plan is to maybe keep it for another 12 months (tops) and get the more miles, more smiles etc and then take my full bike test and move up to something bigger. I'm still looking to change thr bars to drag bars but I think thats about it. Maybe other small altations but nothing major. So, moral of my lesson... Listen to those with with experience. Cheers guys!

  6. One day the “man of the house” came down for breakfast before going to work and found his wife in tears. “What on earth is the matter with you?” he said. “It's alright for you” she said, but you don't have to look after the twins ( 2 boys aged 10 called Jimmy and Johney). “I'm so embarassed when I take them out, they are always fighting and their language is terrible. They are always effing and blinding it and even more stronger swear words. I just can't cope any more...... I NEED YOUR HELP!” “Right said hubby, when you get them up for breakfast, as soon as the first one swears. Hit him, and I mean hit him. Just grab hold of the first thing that comes to hand and hit him with it really hard to an inch of his life, he won't do it again and his twin will take note and realise that he won't swear again. Anyway, when “the hubby” had gone she went to the bottom of the stairs and shouted “Jimmy, Johney, get yourselves down here now for breakfast, NOW” After they came down fighting and tumbling and they sat at the dining room table, mum said, “right Johney, what do you want for breakfast?” Johney said, “I'll have fucking cornflakes!” That was it, mum lost her rag and grabbed hold of the nearest thing she could find which was a cast iron frying pan and started beating him over the head with it, bearing in mind that she was furious with him, when he was semi-concious she chucked him in a corner of the kichen. “Right Jimmy, what do you want for breakfast?” Jimmy replied............................................. “Well I aint having fucking cornflakes!!”

  11. If the front brakes are not releasing then the bleed port in the master is pluged. It's the small hole closes to the hose end alows fluid to travel back to the master once the seal moves back. Don't try to start it untill you have the carbs sorted out your breaking in a new motor and runing it on one cylinder or flooding will not be good. Same thing if that hose blows off ,loosen it off at the rad and get it on right. Be a crying shame to blow it up before you even get to ride it.

  12. Just done the ones on the FJ Andrew and they were as dry as a bone probably 10 years since they were last off if not longer FFS!, it might be that the bearings are ball rather than rollers that would give you some movement, my XJ is ball bearings and can get notchy when not tightened just right. It's the cheapest thing to repack them if they run quiet when you have them apart, as DT says do the cheap things first and look for the obvious. Hope that helps a bit?

  13. Of course it will work. You get the white stuff and if it's dry enough, you crumble it into the spilled fluid, mash it around and leave for a couple of days. Return at the point where it's almost completely dry and just peel it off, taking the spill with it. It's all here in this handy pocket-sized pamphlet...

  18. Well fellas, thanks for the advice. And Slice ... coming from East Ham I fee your pain mate! Well, another chapter to the tale - tonight on the way home form work, the rectifier appeared to have a bit of a moment, by cooking what I think is a protective rubber near it. Stinking white smoke was coming out form under the battery compartment, where the rectifier is situated. I noticed yesterday a lead that appeared to go nowhere (4 female connectors in a square plastic surround) I now believe that it was part of the rectifier or what connected to the rectifier. I wasn't sure what it was so assumed it had been disconnected by the previous owner. Anyway, current situation is that to get the side panel off where the rectifier is located, I need to take the exhaust off which is a major pain (as I don't have a garage). This could possibly be what was causing the sluggish starting - although the bike still started with it disconnected so who knows??? I'm not sure what damage was done by the smoking rectifier as I can't get the panel off.

  19. Almost my first week of riding the dragstar, and to be quite honest it`s a absolute dream to ride.Comfort is the first thing I noticed ( once I found the forward pegs ha ha ).The countersteer I have noticed but without thinking it happens! You put the bike into a corner and it`s a doddle.Speed not a problem, although I don`t need much for commuting.Best thing is the awareness of car drivers and get more respect for some reason, maybe because of the louder engine, the look of the bike or they are astonished to see an old tosser like me riding it ! lol Anyway guys the cruiser style suits me now, love it!

  20. Turning the parking lights on when locking the bike is common. Don't cover the bike as soon as you get home. Lock it up but leave it to cool. It won't melt the cover nor build up excess condensation then and rot the chrome. Personally, I find a nice patina of grime protects the bike better than any polish.

  23. Hey Guys, Just posting here as I don't know anywhere else. I recently purchased a 1979 Yamaha DT-100, The VIN and Engine numbers are *13A000002 If I'm not mistaken. (Not at home so can't check) It appears to have been used as a trials bike but by the looks of the wiring has been re-wired in the last few years. Overall impressions look good. Superficial rust on the chrome wheels, almost none on the frame. The exhaust is rusted through in several places so i s beyond repair. I was wondering if anyone would care to share with me any advice about rebuilding the bike as I have little experience in the area, However is something I am very interested in. The VIN appears to be very unusual, does anyone know anything about it? Regards to all, Kevin-Andrew
