Hi all, found this club after searching for a minor problem resolution on the lady in my life - YBR Custom 2008. Been riding since July last year and will be taking my next licence in July this year, so already planning my next Yamaha. Not getting rid of my custom though, will be stripping her, repairing all the nasty electrical botch jobs the previous owners did and rebuilding. Good chance to learn everything I need to know.

Hello, My name is Joe. I recently purchased a Yamaha XS 750 circa 1977. It is in non-running and poorly bubba'd condition, so I have decided to convert the bike into a chopper. I have started disassembly and I have been researching the carbs since the whole carb pack is missing. Recently I have found a set of carb bodies and the carb mounting bracket for good deals. Trying to figure out where to go from here, but I am happy to be here and learn as much as I can about this bike!

  6. Started by Morillo,

Afternoon all new owner weekend just gone by, got myself a YZF600 2003 Had plenty of bikes over the years then had a spell away for about 5 yrs then got back into it this weekend with the 600. Last bike was a XJR1300sp so wanted to stay with the yamahas again really. New (to me) bike needs a good wash n wax hopefully this weekend but firstly it’s going into the shop for a new chain a sprocket and also to have the choke looked at / repaired. It doesn’t make any difference to the idol tick over no matter where the choke lever is so I guess it’s a snapped cable hopefully that’s all it is ? Im from Warrington cheshire by the way

Hey, I just acquired a 1982 XJ550 Maxim and am in the process of tear-down and restoration. I work on all sorts of projects. The most recent restoration was a 2001 Dinli DL601 T-Rex that included electrical, frame paint, stroker and big bore upgrade from 90cc to 106cc, new plastics and controls. I also recently did a de-rusting and rebuild on a 2000 EZGO 36V golf cart and decked it out with new wiring, lighting, high torque motor, brake system, wheels and batteries. My current customer project is for a friend, upgrading electronics, doing various repairs and adding new toys to a 1995 International 4700 bank transport limo conversion from GoArmor. Always something cool goi…

Hi, I live in Birmingham and way way back in 1991 Part exchanged my 1980 xs650 for my first zzr1100 C3. I wish I could have kept it but monies wouldn't allow. I carried out a soft custom with my Brothers help, which included a small amout of material removed from the riders seat giving a slight actually very slight king and queen seat. Chrome clock pods and chainguard were added, tombstone rear light, slightly high bars, indicators removed, A35 bullet side lights wired into sidelight circuit, big back tyre, (Bike not girlfriend) but the exhausts in my view were the best bit. I used Ariel 350 silencers and the note was gorgeous. Anyway hopefully its ok for me to do this b…

I just went and looked at a old Yamaha 1100 it is supposed to be a 1978 and the VIN has me confused. 2H7-008792 (etched on the engine). All I can find is a 2H8 at all for a Yamaha anything It has a few issues like surface rust on all the chrome and a rear brake that has the cylinder froze up but it is pretty much all there and does turn over and doe seem to have compression. Before I dig it out and spend all my time and money on it I would like to know more about what it actually is. I already read that some of the 78's were actually made in 1979 for instance. It has leaky carbs but seems to have ran recently. The original gas tank is there but not the one on the b…

  17. Started by Matt Green,

Hi all, First time on a forum. Thought someone with more knowledge than me could help. I'm currently trying to get my xj600 up and running and back on the road. It's been sat in a shed for 10months. Now I got it started yesterday, and it runs just like it did before. However, I had to remove the front sprocket as even with the clutch in the sprocket still span round and would make the rear wheel spin. Does anyone know what would cause this issue? I road it once about a month ago and couldn't get it out of 3rd gear and then it just started going on it's own even with the clutch in. So I took the clutch out put new oil in and cleaned the plates. But s…

Hi guys I have just joined up. I saw NEO's post on 12volt conversion for DT175. I am currently doing that conversion. Come up to a problem with the headlight, more on that later. I will be using the bike mainly as a commuter, with some dirt roads, not much of road. I live outside Sydney. Have been riding for many years not much in the last 20 though and a mate offered me the bike, so I am getting back into it. Good Riding Brett
