Had the chance last week to purchase a Yamaha XV535DX Virago last week, it was my wife's late Uncle's, it's a 2001, he was second owner from 2004. It is in mint condition (only done 14 mile from last July 2018, and 7300 miles in total. It's a great little bike to ride and enjoy. Just have a couple of questions for some help/Advice please. Q1. Unfortunately it did not come with a steering lock key (her Aunty can't find it), have tried finding somewhere to get a replacement key but no luck, have seen sets on ebay for compete set of Tank Cap, Helmet Lock, Ignition & Steering Lock but they seem a bit cheap £29 !. Or a steering lock from a bike store for £28 but how t…

Hi there to all, After many years of riding only Yamaha's I eventually branched out to other marques, I am happy to say that I am now once again a Yamaha owner again I started off, as all the greats, did on the humble fizzy, a bike I never crashed! From there, as soon as age allowed I progressed onto my first 250, an RD250E ...which i crashed after 4 days...bloody target fixation! but went on for a good 18 months of happy thrashing till an idiot knocked me off into a telegraph pole breaking my arm and leg, as it was his fault I eventully got a good payout but I don't recommend it as a way of making money, it was a hard painful recovery. Whilst being off th…

Hello forum friends. I've recently purchased a 1984 Yamaha v80 as my first bike and I'm attending motorbike evening classes in the hope to tinker and bring her back to her once former self. I rode her to work on Sunday in London Town - about three miles and back, think my top speed was 25mph (I know she can go faster in just still getting used it being on two wheels). But minutes before we reached those heady high speeds she did start to feel a bit sluggish. I got to a mini roundabout and she conked out. I kick started her back straight away and we went onwards. So I'm wondering what I should be looking for? Old battery? She was a barn find. Ratio of fue…

I strongly advise all Tmax 530 owners from 2016 with electronic locks to consider that their locking system and electronic ignition is seriously flawed, that it has no security whatsoever. At 1.30 this morning my Tmax 530 was stolen in under 3 Minutes, with a disc lock as well. The steering lock is a joke. See pictures. Cannot upload them. I had a 20 14 T max 530 max stolen and recovered as well. It was lifted up and carted away and dumped up the Road, but the steering lock held up and it could not be ridden away. The unbelievable bit about the above is that with all the security module left with the wiring hanging out, it was still just ridden away.…

Hi, My names Alex and I’ve recently acquired a 1989 XJ600, although it’s a serious project bike since not much goes on it. I’ve ridden bikes for 22 years, with a break for 7 years up to now. Although this ones going to take a while to get going, even after hoovering out the mouse nest under the seat!! I love doing up old machines with the last one I did being a Ducati 750SS and loved it. Hopefully people won’t mind, but I eventually plan on making an XJ Café racer style since there’s some exterior damage anyway. First to get her up and running and back on the road though 👍

Hi All, Can anyone help with the registration of a new imported bike which came from Germany? This has been an ongoing issue since Feb 19. The bike was an imported Yamaha TZR which came with full German documentation. DVLA then requested that Yamaha confirm the authentication of the bike which has also been supplied. It seems that the full documentation, and Yamaha Motor Europe letter is not enough to register a bike in UK with DVLA. Has anyone else had similar issues, and does any member know a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi. My name is Paul and this is the first 'Owners' club I have joined. I pick up an XVS1300 Midnight on saturday and its my 1st Yamaha. Currently have a Suzuki Volusia (going up for sale saturday) and all previous bikes were Honda starting with a great 250 Super Dream and ending with a CBR1000f that I had for 16 years. Unfortunatley my knees didn't like that position so I got a cruiser. Loving it as now back riding. I live in Warsop, Notts. I am sure I will need to pick your brains at some point so look forward to the contact.

Hello all, I hope that you are having a good day, I just wanted to introduce you to my website that I have been putting together: https://www.thatbikesound.com/ I have been all around the country recording motorbikes using professional broadcast-grade sound and video equipment. I have used a fixed camera and microphone position to give an accurate sound comparison across all bikes on the website. Yamaha as a manufacturer is quite well represented on the site and I really hope that it will be of use or enjoyment to some people on here! (high quality speakers or headphones are recommended to get the true sound). https://w…

Hi all, New Member to the site, although my first Yamaha was a DT50 29 years ago! I've had numerous bikes, spent countless hours in the shed stripping and rebuilding all sorts, I'm no bike mechanic but I do know enough to get myself up and running again. So, hopefully I'll get to pick your brains to at one point, anyway, great to be s yam member at last! By the way, I am currently searching for a MT03 2006 right hand side foot hanger, where the brake pedal connects to, if anyone has one in UK, give me a shout. Cheers.

New member here. Recently bought a BT1100, a superb bike. I also wanted something a bit different as a hack. While the BT1100 is a superb bike it's big and cumbersome below 5mph so not ideal for nipping into town. So, what did I buy? An XV535, another Yamaha, shaft drive V-Twin, air cooled carburettor breathing. Turned out to be a good choice. Easy to ride, easy to manhandle, comfy. It has a few problems which are being fixed. How different is that. Many years ago I also owned a 650cc XS2. A superb engine built like a brick outhouse in what must count as one of the worst frames in motorcycling history! Put it on it's centre stand and shout 'corner' at it and I'm sure it w…

Hello people! Been around motorcycles for about 50 years now. Early on I rode "OP's" (Other People's) as my Dad, as a young man, had a bad accident on a Cushman scooter (he woke up staring at an engine oil pan). He announced, "No motorcycles under my roof!" So, I didn't get my own bike, a used 1970 DT250, until I was 21, well after I established my independence. I've had 15 motorcycles over the years (4 Yammers, 3 Geese, 3 Beemers, 1 Bultaco Frontera, 1 Royal Enfield, 1 Korean scooter, 1 French Scorpa trials, and a Ural sidehack. Currently, I have five motorcycles under MY roof! (Note to Dad...;-) 2005 Moto Guzzi 750 Breva, 2015 Ural cT, …
