Hello All, Have a w reg rs100 seems that its doomed. Haved asked in various sections on various boards and no one can give an answer. This is my last hope. If not looks like scrap yard in the sky. (Dont know wether its classed as a classic. So sorry if in the wrong section) I am trying to source a part for the carb. Seen it called the needle jet.(The tube that the needle connected to the throttle cable slides in and out of.) My one is broken due to it being over tightened when rebuilding the carb. Can any one help with a part number and possibly a supplier? Thank you for reading. Craig and Rachel

I have a 73' TX500 and was wondering how difficult it would be to swap an xs650 engine into the TX frame. Are mounts similar? Would the xs650 be to big to fit in the frame. Thanks for any info -Nick

So i am going to put a spoked 18" rear wheel on my xs400 cafe racer to replace the 16" "Hardly" looking junk. I am thinking of the Avon AM26 Roadrider 100/90V-18 Blackwall Tire. I think that it would give it a decent ride/road contact feel. Maybe evan give the bike a more sporty road behavior. What do you fella's think?

Just as a reminder, here was the Before: Here's where we are now; almost back on the road.... New mufflers and a couple cycle parts are coming, and the color's the same BASF paint code the US Navy's Blue Angels use on their F/A-18 Hornets. New name for the bike is on order: Bonnie, the Blue Angel

I have a yamaha with a production sticker that shows manufactured in 08/72. The first three numbers on the engine are CT1. I have always assumed it was a CT2 but recently noticed the CT1 on the engine. Any idea which one it is so I can start getting a few parts? Thank you, Mick

Hi, I have an engine (no frame at all) that I want to confirm as a Yamaha RD400 unit. The number is 8M4-002144, and this is in the correct position above the kick start, and does not appear to have been tampered with, but I can find no reference to this engine prefix anywhere - Google searches etc come up with nothing. It looks exactly like those in photo's of RD 400's and it has a pair of 28mm mikuni carbs fitted as it should. The Aircooled RD Tech forum lists dozens of RD model numbers but none start 8M4... Can anyone help me trace this to confirm that it is in fact from an RD400, and to determine age if possible ? I should add that I live in Australia ... …

Recently bought a well kept tx500 off an old man for 500 bucks. Never owned a motorcycle but have rebuilt ford engines and my dad and i restored two 69 mach 1's so thought i'd try my hand with motorcycles. So I bought this thing in good condition bought a manual, took apart the engine, rebuilt the carbs, and it runs great. The question is I want to put some new handle bars on it, but dunno what the sizing is. Will 1 in or 7/8 fit? Will both fit?

Howdy y'all, hoping somebody could help me out with my rear wheel bearings dilemma. I ordered an aftermarket set from Bikebandit (and before that, I also crossed-referenced it with All Balls, the manufacturer) that they said matches my bike. Well, they don't. What I got from Bikebandit is a set of 2 identical bearings, whereas my bike has 2 different sized bearings for each side of the wheel hub, neither of which matches what Bikebandit sent me. On my bike, on one side of the wheel hub, 17x47x14. On the other, 17x52x15. I only found out the exact sizes after hammering the old bearings out of the wheel. So now, the ol' girl is sitting in the garage with i…

My name is Mike I live in Wisconsin of the United States So i have recently (4 years ago) come into possession of a 1982 yamaha seca xs400 chain drive, its a very fun bike, needs some tlc but otherwise very nice. I was wondering how do you find out the exact model. i went onto bikebandit.com to buy some parts and they asked me if it was a xs400j or xs400sj and some other sites asked if it was xs400r. I have no idea what the differnece is, so i was looking to you professionals for help. Also do they make some sort of larger jet kit for this bike to give a little more pep. Or can larger jets or whole carbs from another bike be substituted in? Or is there any othe…

Alright, I appreciate all the help from last time... so let's see if it works again. I have a 79 XS750. The guy before me removed the air box and put the "pods" on it while also re-jetting it. His set up: Main Jets: 137.5 Pilot Jet: 42.5 Needle: Slot 3 With this set up I had issues with it idling down and when you rolled through on the throttle it would bog down. Thus, I read on another forum that there could be a couple issues. They recommended the jets increased/needle movement. New set up: Main Jets: 157.5 Pilot Jets: 42.5 Needle: Slot 2 I replaced the main jets with larger ones to let more fuel through, but left the pilots the same because I did…

So guys I changed the fuse box to inline auto fuse and it was great. Than I started to unscrew all the regulator, rectifier and all the good bits to take away the battery box for air pods. Now I did not screw everything back together since I am planning to relocate some stuff to the back of the hump, but do I need to ground certain thing or make them touch metal? I turn on the key and it stays on for about 2 seconds and it burns out.

trying to make this bike right in all ways .... i decided to take of the tank and replace it with a better one that i have. so when i look at them, i can see that the tap on my tank is not the original?? the new tap has a vacuum tap type. so after taking off the tap i notice that there is a small brass inlet/outlet on the back of the tap. my question to you is ...What should it be connected to? should there be a hose from it to the carbs? Thank for any help you lot can give me
