I have a 1979 Yamaha GT80 that I recently got running, but very poorly. I have rebuilt the carburetor and decoked the top end. It is hard to start and once started, will not idle. When giving it throttle and then releasing the throttle the rpms take a long time to slow down. There are two small hoses on the carb, but I can't see where they are supposed to connect. Are they both just overflows or vent hoses? Can anyone help? Thanks.

someone i know who has this bike, sat outside for 2 years, probably not that worthy of restoration. My question is simply what is it? I know it's a Yamaha (engine side cover), and that it's a 4 cylinder, but nothing past that. help?

Putting back together carbs from a parts box after cleaning. Obviously this bike uses 2 different size main jets, a 115 and 125. I just need to make sure I put the jets back on correctly. Which size goes where? Please be specific, as in left or right while sitting on the bike and the carbs are mounted, or even as specific as the side where the fuel line hooks up is where such and such size goes. Sorry, just want to be sure! Also, and just as important, the pilot jets are different. One has holes all along it, and the other is solid except of course for the hole in the end. Which goes on which side? So we speak the same language, if the carbs are mounted and I am sitting…

The exhaust on my 74 tx500 seems restrictive with only a 1" outlet on each pipe. I'd rather not buy new as I like the the look of the pipes but it all seems welded together. Has anyone opened up these pipes? If so what's the trick. I also am planning on pod air filters which brings me to the next question of what main jets will I end up with. As always thanks for the help.

I have two 1970 CT1 Yamaha's. One has a fork with the inner tube that measures 7 inches from the bottom of the under bracket to the dust cover. The other bike inner tube measures 8.5 inches from the bottom of the under bracket to the dust cover. Does anyone know what model bike this longer travel fork could be from? And is it actually 1.5 inches more travel. Could it be from a AT1mx? What different travel forks did they make for those CT1's. Thanks ahead of time. Bob

Hi all, I picked up a 73 650 last week and have been giving it the once over. the seat it came with looks like a 1970's couch and seems huge. i would like to get it redone so that it looks like the early 70's bikes. I am looking for that early Yamaha / Bonneville look but want to use two colors in the seat. can anyone recommend a source where i can get the seat redone or a place where i can order? here is a pic of the current seat:

Hi all, i just picked up a 1973 TX 650. the handle bar / gauge cluster is loose. I am not sure as to why. from what i can tell there are two bolts that hold the triple clamp? im new to bikes and this is my first street bike so please forgive my lack of the lingo lol. the two bolts i mention are tight. so are the bolts that clamp the handle bar down. from what i can tell there seems to be to rubber bushings that the bolts pass through. im sorry this is so vague but any thoughts are appreciated.

Hello, I'm the owner of a 77 XS500 C and cant figure out what gremlin is plaguing me. The bike runs wel enough when it's cold, but once it warms up develops a very high idle (this starts low and gradually gets higher (3500-4500 rpm) as the bike gets warmer/hotter). Once the bike gets fully warmed up or hot, it starts to bog down and requires almost WOT to get it moving at all. Once it starts doing this, it wont idle at all, like it's not running on both cylinders. If it stalls, it will easily start right back up, but RPM's must be kept very high (3500-4500 RPM) to keep running. This problem occasionally clears up for a minute or or so, but once the bike is hot, the prob…

  15. Hi all! As I'm about to give my rims a brand new powder coating I've run into a few questions. The thing is that I've been instructed to remove all bearings an such from the rims and that is no problem but on the rear rim the damper consists of the four sprocket mounting pins which are attached to the rim with some kind of rubber thingy. So the question is, can these things ber removed/replaced? According to the schematics from bikebandit these parts ar not listed as replaceable (se attached image) If they are not possible to remove, will the stand the heat of 190 degrees celcius in the powder coating owen? All help highly appreciated. Regards, …

  16. Hi, I've been speaking to people in the General section as well as the offroad/dual sport bikes section about the yamaha dt125's. I own 3 myself and as my final major project for my university course I am embarking on a journey from 1968-2008. No, I don't have a time machine! I'm talking ofcourse about the Yamaha DT125. The last were produced in 2007, being replaced with the wr125 4 stroke. *shakes fists*. Here is a quick taster of the kind of thing I'll be producing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lefagftIkk This is my DT. I filmed it in a studio last week and as you can see the editing is nowhere near complete. It's just to illustrate the type of filming i wan…

As the title says I cannot get the c clip out of the master cylinder. I need to get this out in order to rebuild it, but this clip has given me nothing but trouble. I spent 20 dollars on snap clips/ c clip pliers and 30 dollars on precision screwdrivers and allen wrenches but to no avail. How did you guys remove your C clips? edit: doh stupid typo in title, see how pissed I am!?!?

Hi Everyone, I have a '76 xs500c and I want to replace the gauges, but my problem is, no one seems to have a listing for what will work on my bike. I am wondering if there is someone who knows the correct ratio speedo to get, and also if any mechanical tach will work, or if it has to be a certain ratio or something. at first I was going to replace the faces on the stock gauges, but I couldnt find anyone who sold them, so I made my own with photoshop, but I can't find anyone to print them on matte uv resistant vinyl. Any help would be awesome.

PLEASE SOMEONE i have checked and i know these new cabs fit my existingcarb-mounts and air-box.
