Hi, I would like some advice with a custom tail tidy that i'm making for my Dt125re. The question is what angle can a number plate be mounted at and still be legal? I have seen some high angles on the internet e.g Is this legal? Compared to the original I have googled with no joy and also emailed the DVLA and the reply i got was a pdf going on about the number plate size and number spacing etc. no use at all really. Has anybody had any experience with a bike with a number plate angle like the top image i.e mot/police/insurance difficulties.? Any help or thoughts are welcomed. Vez.

Hi Folks, After rebuilding a box of bits, I am having problems starting my 78 DT175MX. The bike starts with full choke but revs to 6000RPMish!! Turning the choke off kills the engine & will not restart without the choke. Bike appears to be standard, so suspect a problem with the float level, not sure where to measure float height as manual does not say. Regards Mark

I have a 2004 DT electric start model which does not start while cranking. It only seems to start when the button is released? Is there a relay that controls the starting coil while cranking? Thanks.

Hi guys, I have a DT200R 1994 and I need to find a plastic tank that will fit, in order to reduce some weight. I asked acerbis and Clarke makers, but they won't be sure some of theirs will fit. The bike seems like a WR200 -the one WITH lights- but it has different tank and seat... Any ideas?

Hi guys, Hope you can help, i have been left a DT175 not sure if its an mx (have been advised its 1980s) by my late brother in law i have had to have a rebore of cylinder so new gaskets cylinder kit etc,and now have all intake rubbers that were missing. It has stood unused for maybe 3-4 years and have couple of snags The engine starts and runs from cold then after a short while it dies and fuel comes out of carb overflow port,i have taken carb off to check for dirt in float chamber and cleaned it out but still does it, any suggestions? Also bike goes into gear but no clutch control at all ,(clutch linkage moves )some one has mentioned the clutch basket but this…

Hey guys, I've recently bought a DT200R '88 and am working through the process of bringing it up to roadworthy status. The first hurdle is getting it working mechanically speaking as it has a few niggles here and there. It has apparently been bored out to 250cc so in this respect should be fairly newish engine wise (new gaskets etc). The first problem one is to do with the carbi (I hope). It refuses to run if the choke is off. It feels like it's running too lean so I'm trying a new pilot jet (current is 25, new is 35) to see if that helps things along. I have a small leak in the radiator, but I'm hoping stop leak will fix that. Removing the rear wheel was a…

Just imported my 2005 DT50R from the continent and getting ready to register it here in the UK. I've tried fitting a new tail light to illuminate the reg plate, but thanks to the stupid design of the original number plate holder, it lights up the back of the reg plate - very helpful! Any ideas on where to get a decent setup? Secondly, after fitting the current light (and having the bike trailered to the UK), the digital speedo/clock/computer is very faint and the clock is counting through the time like there's no tomorrow (literally)! I've checked the battery (all fine and charging "in case"), and disconnected the new light to eliminate what I can - no change. …

I just finished my second restoration on a 1974 DT360 and got it sold on ebay. If you want to see it - http://cgi.ebay.com/...e=STRK:MESOX:IT I am starting a refurbishment on a 1970 RT1 and just got it fired up for the first time today. I'm pretty sure it has a non-stock carb and intake on it. The mikuni carb has a 35.2mm slide with a big bell inlet that doesn't fit the stock air tube going to the airbox. I went ahead and removed the carb and intake on it and found it does have a reed valve intake block. It also has an intake block with a spigot mount 1.57ID (40mm) I am fairly sure the stock VM32SH had to be a flange mount. I have a book that says t…

Hi Guys New to off road riding and I'm after some advice. I'm looking to buy a bike for general green laning and off road riding but I'm not sure what model to go for. I've narrowed it down to either the WR250R or WR240F or WR450F. Can anyone tell me which one would be best. I need it for road use as I will be riding it to the various green lanes and tracks and also for use to commute to work. Is the 250 powerfull enough ??? I have a MT-03 660cc which is good but needs more power, this is the only bike I have rode. any advice would be appreciated. Steven.

I have just bought myself a dt 125r with a 97 frame and an 02 motor. I have had a week now and only been on it a couple of times due to the weather but it doesn't seem to have the instant power that it should. I've had a look at the power valve and it seems to have been disconnected, all the wires and cables have been either ripped out or disconnected which run from the bars to the engine. I'm really needing to get the power valve back on the go cos without it the bike is dead slow. I'm wondering if there is a way that i can hook up the power valve so that it always has power seeing as i have no keys to start my bike nor do i have a kill switch, it's a kick and…
