i have just fitted a big one full system to my bike it is fully deristricted but bike now has a nasty flat spot in top gear inbetween 7-8,000 rpm,does any one know which jets to change and what sizes,bike had previously had a dep system that went rotten and could not afford to replace it and had no issues with this pipe,the bike is a 02 125 by the way

hi all, blew my DTR up this week end, what i have found, seems like the power valve made contact with the piston rings, the power valve is soo vey close to the rings, and the barrel was rebored 0.5mm over sized. its done a good few k miles before it went pop.. but i was 80+ for 15-ish miles 10k revs. backed off the throttle ,and pop. was thrashng the bollox off of it. over sizing the bore makes the rings closer to the P.V. so my question is, would the massive heat in the piston at full chat. expand so far, that contact with the power valve caused this. also, pic of the PV in the shut position , closesst to a piston ring. why the …

It has been gettin worse all the time but over a couple of years. I took er out this morning and the brake lever will go all the way to the grip and really doesn't put much pressure on the brake. Now I really haven't looked into it to deeply but the reservoir if full. It may have air in the line I haven't bled it yet. Is there a rebuild kit for the brake lever, plunger or master cylinder? What do ya think it the most likely cause of the weak brake? thanks for the help

Folks I've just acquired a 1996 dt125r with 11000 miles. the bike is in really good condition but has been sitting in a garage for 2 years without ever being started. imagine my surprise when after 15 mins of kicking....it started!!! i was amazed at this. However.......2 problems.......as follows: First, the lights work but are very dim when on idle. on revving they are fine. when i turn on the indicators they dont flash on idle but they do when the bike is revved. im assuming it simply need a new battery. Is this likely to be right??? Secondly, the bike has a power pipe fitted and in gears 1-4 it takes off like a hare and is very quick, but in 5th and 6th even o…

Hi Can someone advise me the correct torque wrench setting for the xt660z tenere engine oil, drain plug, hand book states 30nm, that seemes rather tight. just thought id double check as changed the oil yesterday although when using a new washer, it seems to be getting tight, but its as the washers compressing. just tightened it to 25nm in the end, but obviously dont want it to come loose. any advice appreciated.

Hi,I am after some advice,The XT 660 z is a tall old beast, and ive currently got a problem with the cartiledge in my left knee, does anyone know if the sidestand would be strong enough to actualy climb on the bike from, as opposed to trying to get on to it from the ground. appologies for a daft question but its proving a prob climbing aboard as it is, for me. i wonder because on my old XT600 the sidestand actually sheared off up near the weld at the top pivot point, never used to use the stand to climb aboard on that, as it was a fair bit lower, not sure why it broke, had it welded at the time and the guy said the metal at that point was way to thin so maybe was a defect…

Hi guys, I'm looking for some advice here. I have swapped over the head, piston and barrel from a DT 125 onto my DT 175 - reason being I never passed my test years ago, so I can run this legally when the DVLA chamge the engine size. I know I should really put a 125 carburetor on it but I'm hoping I can use my existing 175 one by changing the jetting. Looking at the specs in the Haynes manual the only difference parts seem to be the Main Jet (110 and 130) and the Needle Jet (N-4 and 0-2). Is this as simple as it looks? Change these two and it should be run okay? If so, does anybody know where I can get a Needle Jet? I think I've seen Main Jets at Yambits but not the Needle…

hi guys been running my 2001 dt in past few weeks passed the 100miles(only go to girlfriends really ) mark this weekend new rider<< just a few questions and help would really be appreciated as i have a problems. Dont know if im being stupid or the bike is a bit knackered. first problem is when i come to traffic lights i cant find neutral. mate of mine said i should be able to but it definitely wont go in to neutral. Someone said the clutch cud be broken (not cable) but i have no idea as i know nothing about bikes. second problem when i got the bike it has a bodge job of a air filter on it. mate fitted a standard air filter to it and it ran fine. but …

I got a 1974 DT175 that had been converted to a dirtbike(no lights or battery). The wiring has been redone and seemed to work fine before, as I had it running with this configuration, but after I've spent some time fixing various things on the bike(but not messing with the electrical system other than changing the spark plug), I can't get any spark. Can anyone tell me what electrical component could have failed or where the problem might be?

hey guys how is everyone ive been planing on makeing a home made silencer for my 77dt 175 for a wile now and had an idea after a mate told me how some one used one of these to silence his riffle maybe use a big oilfilter from a car and just knocking a hole in the top of it and whacking it on the end of the expanshion chamber just wondering if anyone has tried this or does anybody recon it will work or will the paper in it burn any idea's anyone? i can make a proper strait through one from chicken wire fiber glass and a tin cylinder but the oil filter would be quicker less time consumeing and instead of repacking just buy a new one there cheap as

I know this is a very strange question but one that would be GREATLY appreciated. Im doing some design work on various yamaha engine parts but the problem is that we only have a WR250 here. If possible, if anyone has a YZ450, YZ250 or WR450 could you do me a huge favor and measure the I.D. of the ignition coil bore? We have been trying hard to get locals here to help but it is to no avail. I can promise if you help me out now I will do the same in the future concerning some items that may be of interest.
