Evening all Ive got an 2009 tenere xt660z and have read somewhere that the sprocket ratio isnt that good for off road/ normal riding. I havnt done that many miles on it yet but soon going to the Americas to do 30000 miles on all types of surfaces! I think the standard ratio is 15/45. Has any one changed theirs and for what reason or do you thing the standard is fine? Any opinions welcome. Thanks

I'm thinking of replacing the chain and sprockets on my XT 125 X and contemplating whether to go two teeth up on the rear sprocket. I found out that the R model has exactly the same front sprocket and chain length but 50 teeth instead of 48 for the rear. I know I am to expect a little loss in top end but most of my riding is done in city roads so I could do with more bottom end (acceleration). This probably isn't a fair assessment of speed because the R model has a bigger front wheel but just hoping to get a rough idea of its top speed on the road.

Well i got a yamaha dt125 from a friend and have some questions. im not looking to make it perfect, but nice enough to not be totally embarrased by it. First i need help identifying what year it is. there are also a few parts i need help sourcing and some info on how to get it on the street legally. theyve had the bike for 13 years and they dont remember having any form of title for it. but they do remember having tags for it at one point and legally drove it on the road, i dont have any title or bill of sale for it, how can i get it legally on the road? its not a huge concern, but something i would like to accomplish. Ill upload what pics i have and some of the…

Hi Guys, A small update from last time couple of months on the TTR125. And a couple queries! Cleaned and rebuilt the carburettor, new oil, new petrol, cleaned the air filter, new spark plug.. Finally got her running! A Matter of days after it was running the electric starter stopped working, the clicking with full battery charge all the that I needed. So Im about 75% certain the starter has packed in. Anyone know any methods for testing these things? Anyway I put it to a "mechanic" I use that term loosely.. who let the bike rott in his garage for 6 weeks which did not help matters. So here I am 2 days ago I got the bike back and have decided to pour many ho…

Gday, when i purchased this bike it ran rough, but did run consistently. no upon trying to start i cannot get a spark. the electrics are all working, and the spark plugs have been replaced. I know the condensor can be the cause of this problem but are there any other things that impact it? ignition timing etc? If so a little guidance on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated

  9. Hey, if there is anyone with experience with these bikes i need help, i have a 78 dt400e street legal 2 stroke enduro that died on me while i was riding it on the road. The bike would not restart when kicked over. Started first kick that day, compression seems ok, plenty of oil, the battery, lights and electrical seem to work fine but the bike will not turn over. The plug is usually a pancake color and runs great, when i took the plug out it was dark and fouled which is a bit unusual. Now it will just not start or turn over when kicked. Yes it has gas and spark i cant figure out what is not working. i ride this bike around and its never really given me a problem in the 2 …

After spending all night with very little info and only a partial wiring diagram off the internet, I too am having electrical troubles with my lighting on a dt100/ the diagrams show that the dt175 and the dt100 have the same wiring. After highlighting the diagrams and tracing the wires on the bike, I have come to the same conclusion that the headlight and the running lights in the speedomitor and the high beam indicator light all work of of the magneto with AC electricity. While the tail light, horn, neutral light and flasher system along with the stop lights are on a 6v dc system. Both systems interface with the diode rectifier. My trouble is that I have no informatio…

Hi I wanted to share my work in progress DT175. I have done quite a bit myself and help of my dad. I picked it up for $150 in bad shape. So far I've chaged: New handlebars Removed fenders New tires Air filter Installed headlight and taillight Changed seat - I made the seat pan out of a street sign I found. I sewed the vinyl myself with carpet padding. It doesn't look bad from afar but not great close so I'll probably try again. Removed broken rpm gauge I took it to a shop to clean the carb and change oil ps - please avoid Big Daddy's Automotive in Fayetteville, Ga. Not sure if he doesn't know what he is doing or doesn't care. I got the bike back after a f…

Hi all, had a YZF 250 for a few years now and only now thought of questioning whether it was sold to me correctly as a 2005 model (I have my doubts). It was my first serious motocross bike and I was "young and naïve..." so I didn't look thoroughly enough for the tell tale signs of just how to make sure you are getting what you have been advertised. I'm hoping someone on here can identify the bike year, I have my suspicions it is actually a 2003 model after some google searches, but where better to ask for proof than on the Yamaha Owners forum!! Regardless of age, I really enjoy riding it, I'd just prefer to know exactly what I have Any advice, info would be appreciated. …

Just bought a 74 DT175 soaked the carbs, sparkling clean now. Replaced spark plug and fuel line, coated tank, new oil. Getting good spark, fuel into carb, oil to cylinder from pump, can hear throttle work properly, set air mix screw at 2 turns out and idle screw at 3 turns out. With choke out starts right up but idles at 8000 rpm. Put choke in immediately dies. No air filter in, I don't know if that would cause any of this. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi Everyone didnt see that there was a separate setion for enduros - Ive just become the proud owner of DT 400mx and was wondering if anyone can tell me if, in general, spares are relatively easy to get hold of as i'm going to need shed loads if i want to get the bike back to a good condition and if they are expensive relative to other makes/type?

I've recently been rebuilding an old DT50MX as a bit of fun but I'm having problems registering the bike. The bike is a 'bitsa and any documents that there were, have been long since lost along with the original registration no. I Wrote to DVLA asking them if they could supply me with the original reg. using the frame no.(VIN) for reference but they replied that they no longer had a record of the VIN. I now will have to re-register the bike and have a another(age-related) reg. no. issued. Does the club have a vehicle validation procedure whereby, if I supply the VIN, the club can supply verification of the year of manufacture? I understand and accept that usually clubs ma…

Ijust bought a 1982 Yamaha 100 enduro and know nothing about bikes. The bike runs great but the red oil light under the spedo is on when the bike runs and I do not want to damage the engine. The oil tank is full how do I know if it is a bad sensor or if the oil injector is not working? Can I add oil to the gas tank and pull the small line off the carb from the injector to see if oil runs while the bike runs? Is ther something I can do to know if the injector pump is working?

Other than the 2 cycle oil that goes in the tank what other oils or fluids do I need to add? If you are sitting on the bike on the seft side below the carb there is a bolt with a gasket on it and a spring under it. I took out the bolt and there appears to be oil or fluid there. How much and white tipe do I put in? On the right side next to the kick start there is a plastic cap with a dip stick on it. This compartment is empty. What type or weight of oil or fluid do I put in?
