I have just tried to change the front brake pads on my 05 plate DT125X and have hit a problem. It has a brembo 2 piston calliper which I believe is standard fitment on the 'X'. Each pad has a hole on one end and a rod passes through this which connects to the calliper. There is a small clip holding this rod which I removed, yet I cant get the rod out of the calliper, which is preventing me from changing the pads. Does anybody know how to get this rod out of the way? There is no screwdriver head or socket head on either end of the rod. I have a horrible feeling that the previous owner has sheared a bolt head. Has anyone ever changed the pads who can offe…

Hi... new to the forum. have a 78 dt175. 2500 miles runs great. I am, just wondering if there are any good performance improvements to try. Right now the bike will run about 65 mph. With my 230 lb on it. Engine is turning about 7500 rpm at that speed. Any carb or exhaust options still available for these bikes. Thanks for your help. Ken

Hey people! Before I get my carb setup I'm thinking about making my dr125r more suitable at 60mph! If I scream the nipples off it it reaches 110kph but I'm not a fan of running bike flat out for national speed limit! If I go down a tooth on front sprocket would this allow more comfortable riding? I'm gonna keep the standard sprocket for green laining! Cheers Ken

Hello people! Just bought a perfect example of a dr125r just got a minor problem with I believe the carb-ill explain in a little detail. Pulls from standstill up to 9000ish rpm and then I get bogging and stuttering, noticed it more today when I took her out on some busy roads. Only bought it Friday night Just wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestion? Bike is fully derestricted with a full dep exhaust and snorkel removed, previous owner says he got carb jetted up in a garage but I don't believe him. Any ideas what jet she should have in? Cheers Ken

  10. Hi all back again thanks for all your previous help, ended up getting the barrel bored out to 1mm (previous post) and got it back after about 10 weeks at the shop. before fitting the engine back in the frame I needed to replace the steering bearings, simple job I thought - can of worms it turned out to be firstly the top of the stem is horribly worn so im wondering if I need a year specific part or were they the same for all models, mine is 1979. Will an early twin shock version fit ? Secondly after fitting the bearings there is still loads of movement at the bottom fitting, I had to tap the top race in gently with a plastic mallet but the bottom pushed in by hand…

He's back. Rather be riding but... When I got the bike, there was a tube going from a fitting on the side of the carb in line with the slide, to a second fitting at the lower front/engine side of the carb. Both fittings are on the side opposite the choke pull. There was a third fitting with a tube going to the oil pump. Seemed correct but now I'm not so sure. In thinking about it, isn't the bottom fitting on the float bowl the overflow, and shouldn't it just go back between engine and frame. The fitting nearest the cylinder would seem a logical place for the oil fitting, leaving the one on the throttle slide??? With hoses fitted as originally purchased, the bik…

I've just bought a motocross style helmet to match my bike. I've just tried it out after switching from a full face sports style. I wanted to change because I wanted a helmet that would match my bike, also I was sick of the visor steaming up all the time. Straight away I noticed the wind catching under the peak and lifting my head. I also noticed the goggles I bought (ones that match the helmet) dig into me and are n't that comfortable. The helmet is the right size as well, so it's not too big or too small. I have place the goggles on the outside of the helmet, I'm sure thats the proper way.

  15. Hi Everyone, am thinking of fitting some aftermarket silencers to my 08 tenere, fed up with it sounding like my Flymo, have seen some leovince ones on ebay from Italy, what are leovince like, Quality and sound wise? and are they a pig to fit? there around £360 on ebay , think thats around £60.00 cheaper than uk prices. not sure if its a good idea buying direct from italy as if theres any probs, then would be a lot of hassle. would anymods to fuel injection be needed after fitting these.

hi i have a 2006 xt660r its done 14000 miles and its started to clunk when i put in gear. i have looked at it and found that there is about 10mm plus backlash on the small chain sprocket. could this be down to the clutch basket starting to wear due to running in to high a gear at low revs or is it a common problem with big singles what other things should i check

I have acquired a 100cc yamaha enduro, however, I cannot find the model name I thought it was a dt 100 but I have been told the earliest of those were made in 1974. My bike is made in July 1973, and the frame number is 437-001715. Does anyone know what this bike is, thank you.

  19. I recently had to replace my oil level check bolt because the threads were stripped. That was simple but ever since putting the clutch cover back on I can't get the clutch to work properly. I think it has to do with the push rod and push lever not being properly set. But I don't know what else to do. When I pull my clutch handle in I feel the rod pushing the entire distance. So it isn't like I have too much slack and the rod isn't moving far enough. But even with the clutch pulled all the way in the gears will not disengage. I'm a bit of a noob though. I'm not totally sure what the rod is supposed to do. I think the push lever rotates clockwise when the clutch …

  20. Hi peeps, I've recently been researching about doing a 520 chain conversion to my Dt but need some help. As I'm sure most already know the DT's run a 428 by 134L but changing the pitch to 520 changes the amount of links I'm able to have. The 520 renthal chain has 124 links at the most and was wondering if this would be ok to put on my bike with out altering it too much? any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Zimbo
