  2. Hi peeps, I;ve got a 1989 DT 125 R and it was running fine but just keeps on misfire when I start riding. It doesn't seem to like revving at all and after a few seconds it then just dies. It idles absolutely fine but as soon as you ride it starts to misfire and stall... I've tried a few things to get it running properly so far; - New spark plug, Coil, HT lead and Plug Cap - Cleaned out the carb - Checked for broken wires found none. I have a few ideas to what it could be; - Piston rings ( but not sure if this would cause the misfiring ) - Possible Blown head gasket - Reeds need to be replaced - The Pulser/Source Coil Any help pointing me towards t…

Hi, can anyone help, DT was running fine then went on holiday and when i got back i tried to get it going and it wont start. Previously a good starter, now no spark. Have tried a new 'cheap' coil they sold me down the local bike shop for 20 quid which doesn't fit properly and a new spark plug, checked the connections, earth connector wire to the metal frame of the coil was chaffed and rubbing on the frame, but I presume this doesnt matter as its the earth, repaired anyway. Connected a meter set to voltage, to the input and earth and it sends the digits wizzing when i push the kick starter, but don't know what it read! Bit stuck now, electrics not my thing. Anyone know wha…

Hello Everybody I have a DT50 year 1990 bike. I need to change the tachometer cable. But no matter how I pull the cable out (the end near the throttle cable), it won't come out. Can I just pull it to remove the cable or are there any screws to be unscrewed first? The speedo cable was straight forward. Just needed a pull... Please help me :/

Hello, new member here. I just recently bought a DT400 missing most of it's body work and electrics since it was ran strictly off road. It was advertised as a 75 which would be a 400B. The VIN on the frame is 450-x which according to http://auction.netbikes.com.au/vjmw.php?page=yamaha_id is classified as a "DT250 Japan." The engine VIN is 501-x which says "DT400 Japan." Am I safe saying that it is a 75 when I buy parts? Also would all the cables and wiring and such for a 75 (if that is the correct year) DT400 fit on that frame? Is the bike even worth restoring to a roadworthy/sellable state since the frame and engine VINs dont match?

Hey guys, Went to start the bike, but wouldn't turn over, said battery was minimal, when i had it on the charger the other day said it was fine. anyway oiked out the kick start, it turned over with choke out, got the revs up for a minute and slowly let out the throttle, engine cut out, repeated the same process with same effect a number of times. It seems it will turn over but then just cuts out if I release throttle or put choke in... Any ideas? Regards Paul

hey guys, just having a bit of an issue with the enduro/motard modes got ready to ride to work, and notcied a that ""Ntdr" and "Endr" were flashing, after a qucik look, on the internet, it would appear that this is to select motard/enduro modes, not thinking this would have a massive effect i pressed 'enduro' mode. after setting off the clock displayed that i was approx 10mph faster that i was actually going. bening led to believe that the enduro models have smaller tires, this would explain this, however after disconnecting/reconnecting the battery and selecting the motard mode, it would appear that the clock still displays the 10mph difference. can anyon…

Haven't been here in awhile...had another bout with congestive heart failure that kept me down for a bit. Ready to start on my restoration - 1970 DT1. I know we've been over this all before, but i need to replace the oil seals. Can I just pull them off the ends of the crankshaft without splitting the cases, and just press the new ones in? Any tricks or advice? A good source for the seals other than ebay? Roger

Had a great time out on the local greenlanes today!, got as high up as 400-500 meters. lovely views will defo get some pics next time. However the bike went down a few times, reg plate off, rear light not coming on (hopefully its just the bulb that's blown) and snapped my rear brake reservoir, they are in such a damn silly place on these bikes (sticking out of the bike, if it was back/in the frame abit more- say half an inch it would be ideal!) If the right side of the bike EVER touches the ground u can pretty much bet you have bust your reservoir (XT125 05). What a pain in the ass! i have only had a new reservoir on it for about a week and a fucking half!!!!! ah…

Gday im customising/rebuilding a battered old yamaha. Its exhaust works well but unlike most other dt models ive seen its silencer bends downwards as seen the photo. This i would like to change for solely aesthetic reasons This i was wondering if this can be changed, or what the effect of slicing it off as done by this person with a yamaha dt 250 would be

Hey guys, Sorry if this has been covered somewhere already; I did a cursory search but couldn't see anything. I've got a TW125 as my first bike and want a rack to fit the back. I've searched and the only thing I could turn up is some 'tubular topbox rack', at £102! That's far too much, and I'm not even sure it's what I need. I'm just looking for something like this (link), but I'm not sure if it's a standard fitting on the bike, or a specialised fitting. Thanks in advance.

  20. Hi , I'm trying to get my Dt 125 r road worthy after being bought recently , happy with everything apart from there's no bottom end power , not much mid but a huge power band ? . Surely I can share the power better ? The previous owner has fitted a full dep system. Any help would be great .
