Hey guys, I am brand new to this forum. I have a problem with my 1980 Yamaha TT250 dirt bike. My plastic gas tank completly rotted from the inside out and gas is coming out of the side of the tank. I have such a problem finding a gas tank for the bike, because of the mono-shock. No one even makes a new tank for this bike. I was wondering if anyone knew if any other tanks fit my bike?? It's such a shame because the bike looks great and runs great aside from the tank being rotted out. Thanks for the help guys, Vic

I have an early 80s DT175mx (2K4). I tend to just use it for off-road fun in the fields. I have neglected it for a while since moving home. A few years ago I swapped the rear Swing arms from a tubular type to a box-section type with great success. I am looking to MOD it a bit further and am looking to do away with the Magneto and points for a modern electronic ignition. Are there any modules that would suit this type of upgrade or should I just persevere with what I have got? I did find something on the Net about using the module from a honda C90? I have great plans for the Bike and one day I may get it road ready. I'm just tired of having to take a dozen or so kicks when…

Hey guys new member here. Just bought my first dt last week and i love it. Its a 99 model with renthal bars but no other major mods. My main problem is restriction. My bike will only rev cleanly to around 6500-7000 revs then or 45-50mph but will go no harder. I have trawled through numerous other posts trying to find my answer but to no avail. I dont seem to have a reed valve behind the speedo. Neither do i have the green and black wire which needs to be earthed. I plan cutting my exhaust tomorrow for a look in there and have remove the restrictiors there however I dont see this as the only main retardation on my bikes performance as it is dreadfully slow. I have done…

Sorry for posting this in three different places, just wasn't sure what to do. Just got my Yamaha DT125 R 1999. I have a little problem with it, it runs fine at low revs but as soon as it gets to around 6000 revs it bogs out, also as soon as the throttle is opened fully it does exactly the same. It's not a restriction as the amount of revs it bogs at changes every time. Thought it was a dirty carb but its not that as had it all cleaned up and didn't stop the bogginess. Been told it could be my coil so I've brought a new coil. Any other ideas on what it could be?

just out of curiosity what would cause the engine oil to find its way into the flywheel casing? I knew where to look for the problem as two separate people had suggested that i check the flywheel. Someone suggested that it was some seal that had failed (i can't remember what, crankshaft maybe? i honestly can't remember what was said hahaha) . But long story short it has died a horrible death LOL Here's a photo of the inside.

Hi I have just recently bought a k reg tdr 125 and it keeps nearly overheating I switch it off just before it goes into the red after about 5 mins of riding, ive fitted all new hoses as one was split and iv already checked the thermostat is opening so I cant work out why its getting so hot so quick, I have noticed that when I start the bike all the coolant is forced back up the rad and out through the expansion bottles overflow pipe at the back of the bike. any suggestions on what is causing this problem would be much appreciated thanks.

hey guys haven't been on in a long time but my 1977 Yamaha dt 175 has suddenly given no spark. I was riding it to the shop when it stoped on the way, I pushed it in to the shop and put my new to me shocks I got off a Yamaha street bike. I screwed around with the plug and coil trying to get spark but no luck, so I decided to take off the cover where the points are and I undid the nut and pulled that tried to pull that brake drum lookin thing off. no luck so I put the nut back on and tried to spin it and it made this awful grindin noise and it would get really hard to spin. im not familiar with this thing so im wondering if I got it out of time or some crap. any help would …

  12. Hey guys, So I'm trying to make my old mx 100 street legal. So far I've made it so it can get up to speed by installing boyesen power reeds and a performance filter. I do need to get a larger jet for it soon as it is running to lean so it's parked for now. I've been looking to get and install a speedometer and a tachometer, but I do not know how to install those. Please help.

Hello all, this is my second topic about this bike. Anyways, the rear shocks on my 75 DT400 are shot. Anyone have any good affordable suggestion for shocks for this? I am thinking of getting this combo: http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspension-Series-Shock-12-1203B/dp/B000WK72MW http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspension-03-1367B-Black-Spring/dp/B000UKID6I/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1374010981&sr=1-1&keywords=03-1367B I've heard (read) good things about Progressive and that's the cheapest I can find the shock/spring pair. Any thoughts?

Hi guys As expected it seems like my head bearing have gone. Bit of history; my steering is very stiff when turning the bars to the right, to the left it's fine. My bro has been borrowing the bike, so I suspect it's that he hasn't been covered and he's left it parked up with the steering to the left, and it's rusted the head bearings. Now that I have it back, it's up to me to sort it. It seems like the cables aren't overly puling, and tyre pressures are fine. It's just been in for MOT and failed, obviously, and the guy confirmed it's the bearings. I was thinking of doing it myself, and reading up on here it seems like it's not the most difficult job. However I can…
