New to this club so forgive me if I'm in the wrong part of the forum. So in a nut shell I have a XS400ES. It has been neglected and left for about 15 years. I have it now and to date I have managed to free the engine and to my surprise fitted a battery and it all works all be it a flasher relay and no spark, but there is a little power in the low tension lead from the coils ,. Its a new battery on the bike and I am a little stuck. there is power to turn the starter motor and the pistons have good compression, I have put a new condenser on still no spark from the coils ? Help would be appreciated.

I have an 86 FZ600 that had been sitting in my garage for 25 years. I fully cleaned the carbs and jets, washed the tank, replaced all oils and got it started. It's still very hard to start without using starting fluid and there is afterfire from time to time when engine is still cold. I'd adjusted the air fuel mixture to a little to the rich side and afterfire stopped when engine warms up. Everything seems fine except that it still doesn't start without using starter fluid when cold. I'm thinking it's the valve clearance that needs to be shim. Does anybody know the factory specs of the valve clearance. I know the FJ600 specs is intake 1.1 to 1.5 and exhaust 2.1 to 2.5, ju…

Good day all, I own a yamaha fzr1000 genesis ‘90 model. It was bought from overseas and went thru 4 family members before I owned it. All of the owners and me had one commen problem; the bike struggles to pull away below 3000 to 4000 rpm, I was determined to get it right but failed like all the others, later on the bike developed another symptom where it floods if I rode it in town on stop and go’s but on the open road it is fine. I then recently bought a second damaged fzr where the piston went thru the block but all other spares were ok, so I jumped to the cdi first with no luck, I then reinstalled the exup in the in the exhaust for the pull away problem with no luck. I…

First off, I am no mechanic, so I really want some advice from you guys so I can learn what I need to.... So I am going to be picking up a 1993 XJ600 on Friday, and all it needs, according to the owner, is new carbs and a battery to run. All it is missing currently is a seat, fairings, and the aforementioned carbs and battery... again according to the owner and what I can see. I am going to ask if it's been laid down or any other important questions. My question is... what is compatible between my 1986 FZ600 and the 1993 XJ600 i am picking up? I am considering sacrificing parts from my FZ to get the XJ running again... or vice versa... but I have no clue as to t…

Hi, I've had the bike for two weeks now and just can't ride it smoothly. It seems as if it never warms up with the throttle lag. I adjusted the air bleed screw from one and a half turns out to half turn out with slight improvement but no cure. New spark plugs and filters, new fuel. Any help greatly appreciated. I am afraid the sudden jerking through the transmission will harm it. The chain has been adjusted too. Many thanks.

Engine: Yamaha YD-100 Strokes: 4 strokes I don't know if this forum accepts such type of questions but I still hope that my problem will be solved. The problem is that the tiny hole through which the engine oil is sprayed to the head of the engine is blocked(not completely) for some reason. All I want to say is that if it's possible to clean the hole without opening up the whole engine.

Okay so ive accepted that my bikes swing arm is powder coated and without taking it somehere to be re done and spending loads of money for no reason i think im gonna take it off myself and re spray the whole thing.. 1. How difficult is it to take off a swing arm and put it back on (is the suspension pre loaded or does it literally just bolt back on and when i put the bike down does it just take the weight of the bike) 2. Whats the best way to get the old paint off 3. What is the best paint to use ie. Stove paint, hamerite or what ? 4. Do i need to do a primer or a base coat what ever they are (ive got no idea of spray painting parts so forgive my lac…

Hi all, So over the past 6 or so months I have been having an issue starting the bike when it is hot (+80 degrees) This only occurs when warm and when the ignition is turned off fully. If I kill the engine and restart it starts just fine. When it is hot and the power is turned off - the bike will not idle, I can get it to go with some throttle, but this is risky as it will still drop below 1kRPM if this is not maintained. I have had no time to really investigate this myself so finally I thought I would drop it off at motorcycle repair shop. After 1 week and lots of phone calls it is not solved. I have asked them to email over what they have tested and received this: …

Hi i have a wr125x i want to sell it soon but because it was my all year round rider the snow and salt have really punished my alloys and break callipers. I dont know exactly what it is but its either corrosion or oxidisation. It looks horrible and really devalues my bike. Its all over my break callipers, my rear spokes and a couple of parts on my engine. Also its on my engine casing ill take some pictures if needed but i just need some help on how to get rid of it and make it look decent. Also another thing my swing arm paint has come off and has rusted abit but i think the swing arm is powder coated on a wr125x im not sure but is there a way i can touch up any pa…

Hi Guys. I tried asking this question as a reply to an older thread, with no reponses... So I'll try it this way I'm pretty sure I replaced the fuel cap the wrong way around, and now I can't remove it. The key turns, but the cap just won't budge. Any ideas or suggestions how to sort this out will be greatly appreciated. Please help. My apologies... I accidentally posted this twice
