  2. Calling all DT experts, I have joined up YOC after I stumbled upon it while googling for ideas what may be wrong with my '81 DT175MX which has done 50,000 miles. I have had it for the last 24 years. I have a picture loaded on my profile. It looks like the knowledge in the workshop forum is a pretty vast resource, whereas my knowledge is pretty much exhausted with this particular fault. It is a pretty epic story, and goes back over a year, I struggle to recall the exact sequence, but as far as I remember it goes something like this...... The bike had been parked up over winter and refused to go in the spring - a surprise as it is usually a great starter. Initial …

Hi! I have few problems with my Dragstar 125. Does anyone know where I can find Yamaha Dragstar XVS 125 Service Manual? I search everywhere but I can't find. I found it on one page but they want to give them my Credit Card Number, in my opinion it's no good idea.

Hello I have a Yamaha XTZ 125 and it has great acceleration but I want to go faster. I mostly use it to travel to remote towns in Peru which I have more than enough power and top speed for, but my problem is on the highway it tops at 55mphand that's winding it all the way out and it feels like it doesn't have any more torque to give so without getting more power adding an extra tooth or two isn't going to help. My plan is to add a bigger exhaust and carb to it, but I'm worried about blowing it up. It's still definitely under warranty but if I blow it up due to aftermarket parts I dought it is covered. do you guys have any idea of what I can do to make it faster is there a…

  6. Hey peeps! First post in here so nice to meet ya all! I ended up posting in this forum after trying for weeks to find a solution on the internet for my YBR125..The problem is, it wont start in hot weather... I've searched on the internet and found other peeps that have the same issue, but havent found any solution to it yet.. Someone said he replaced the fuel pump and it sorted it out..Just wondering if there's any1 out there that has a definite answer before i try this. So its an 2007 ybr 125, done 13000 miles, everything is fine, except this issue. The engine light comes up for 5 seconds as normal, but there's no noise of the fuel pump engaging (not sure if …

Hi Guys, long time since I posted on here but in need of advice. Took my 1980 DT175MX for its MOT today. It passed but only just - there's play in the lower swing arm mount. Got home, read up on how to remove the pivot bolt, shims, washers, thrust covers, bushes etc and set to work. After removing the nut the pivot bolt was solid - had to use a 1/2" drive socket bar with long extension tube just to get it to turn. 4 hours later, 3 knackered drifts and 1/2 a tin of WD40 the pivot bolt is jammed solid half out. So... any advice on how to get it out.

So I'm trying to bring my WR250F (2003) back to life again which has been stashed away for over three years now. It was working great before then and I even wrote up a project about it on here around 5 years ago (https://yamahaclub.com/forums/topic/37457-2003-wr250f-legalize-it-project/). Is there anything I should be doing first and foremost before I try to start it? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right in case something gets messed up in the process. The bike is stored in a locked building so there is no worry of the elements getting to it. (1) There was almost a full tank of petrol in the tank (unless slowly evaporated). I carelessly left it in…

Hi folks! Newbie to the forum and relatively new biker also. I've got a 2006 YBR125 that's my pride and joy, but recently it's been causing me hell. So, to summarise; upon starting up, the bike idles comfortably (both with the choke, and then after a couple of minutes, without it). It idles low, but that's been messed with by me adjusting my idle to about 1500rpm. However, if you leave it running for 5 minutes or so, or you so much as feather-touch the throttle, the engine cuts out and the bike struggles to restart through electrics or kick-start. I've not got a video, but essentially it runs like a bag of nails and you can hear that the engine's just losing all power. …

Hello, I'm new to this forum and looking for some help regarding a 1991DTR build I'm nearly finished on. Problem is it aint running due to a suspected electrical issue. The bike came to me as a basket case with no loom, its since had a total rebuild and engine is sound with excellent compression and all fresh seals etc. I had done my best to get a loom together that closely matched the original diagram minus all the bits i didn't want/need. The best i have had when trying to start the bike is a brief coughing sound from the motor and a rather pathetic puff of smoke from the exhaust as if firing but only from the force of my kick and no more. After loosing my patience i ha…

Hi, I have a 2002 SR125 that's seems to be running rich. The spark plug is black and sooty, and if I blip the throttle quickly it dies. I have cleaned the carb, replaced the spark plug and air filter but no improvement. It ticks over fine, but if the choke is on it revs high. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  13. Hey, I have this old Yamaha DT125 from 1982. Last summer the crankshaft seals broke and sucked the gear oil into piston chamber which burnt up, gasoline and such would gather inside the cover of the flywheel... (unless the oil somehow got anywhere else) and my clutch broke without me realising before it was too late. I replaced the clutch, piston, pistonrings, cylinder seals and crankshaft seals (Left and right), I noticed that the crankshaft itself when I wiggled it had maybe half a millimeter of play up/down (-1 degrees celsius) on the right side, but I thought this was acceptable and put it all together. Now it's spring and I've finished putting it together, but t…

Hi, Hello to all you bikers from David. I had a Yamaha XS 750SE long ago and after endlessly checking out different bikes, I've bought an XJ 900 S from 1996. Reviews said it was slow, but that might be by modern standards. It's way faster than what I used to ride. At the moment ,I'm only using it on a private road to get used to it. At speed, it's fine ,but it feels very heavy when pottering along slowly. Better safe than sorry though. I look forward to going for a spin on a nice sunny day. Happy biking all. David.

  15. So looks like it's time to tackle something new again . I'm having to replace the fork seals, which will most likely include a full service on the forks as there seems to be signs of leakage. Also, the steering feels a bit "notchy" and was told the head bearing might need replaced as well. I've hopefully got the parts I need to get started: 2x head bearings, 2x dust seals, 2x fork seals and fork oil. However, before I get started ripping the bike apart, I was wondering if I could get some advice on what tools might be essential to carry out the jobs. For those of who have seen my other projects and repairs, I have a decent array of tools to carry out most jobs. Having wa…

Hey all, I'm kinda new to bikes. I picked up this YA6 and it was running. One night I rode it to the end of the road and about 3 houses before I made it back it stopped running. Its had no spark ever since. I found the wiring to the tail light and brake light had broken, still no spark. The fuse is good and the grounds seem ok. I have replaced the coil. Any thoughts on what to do next? Condenser? Thanks for the help.

  17. Morning gents, I know nooby question but you never know what the brain-trust here can advise. Been a while since I changed sprockets & chain and forgot which ones I ordered from Wemoto a few years ago. https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/fj_1200_3cv_type/88-90 There are 6 options and price wise not too much in it. Is the most expensive at £147 simply the best ?? Also I seem to remember reading here that there may be an option to change the sprocket ratio to have less revs at high speed/better fuel consumption. I'm aware you lose a bit of bottom end but that's not too important soo, what's the skinny on this? I do quite a bit of dual carriage …

Hi, I was riding the other day and knocked the bike down a gear to get past something and the engine just had no power and then went to a complete stop. It was as if I had ran out of fuel - which I hadn't. Anyway got recovered back home. The bike had been standing for a few years likely with the same fuel in so though it may have been that. I have drained the tank, carbs and stripped the fuel hoses but couldn't find anything that untoward.I have checked the spark plugs and compression all ok. When I put the petcock in purge and open the carbs reservoir outlet no fuel comes out.... My next line of investigation is whether the petcock is supplying fuel as well as …
