I've got an 07 v star 650. This morning, around 40 degrees out, I rode it on the freeway, and the check engine light came on. I pulled off to the shoulder, and the light went out after about 30 seconds. I shut down and checked the oil level - it was fine. Started back up,and took off again. The light came on again when I hit high speed, went out when I slowed down. The bike ran great, sounded normal the whole time. Any idea what this could be!

Hi everyone, Happy New Year! I took the swingarm off my YBR125 to strip down, remove rust and re-paint over Christmas. When I've put it all back together, the wheel alignment at the back seems to be way out according to the marks on the arm (I know the marks are not definitive, but they were fairly accurate before removing the swingarm, which is what's making me think I've done something wrong). If I take up the chain slack on the left hand side I'm at the second mark on the swingarm, but on the right hand side the adjuster bolt isn't even touching the swingarm on the second mark, it's nearer to the forth before it makes contact. I've pulled the wheel all the…

Thought this couldn`t be fixed but gave it to friend with lots of patience. The tripmeter shaft was bent and couldnt turn. The face looked like a dog`s breakfast and there was glue all over the mating surfaces showing previous owner had tampered with it. After the repair. He did a nice job. Never think these gauges can`t be fixed.

Hi guys, As posted before bike starts and ticks over pretty good now, but noticed the tickover screw even when fully in won't increase RPM....if I back it out it will decrease ?.....not a big problem but would have thought it would increase and decrease either side of typical tickover as required ?.... Anyone have any thoughts on why it should be like this ? From what I can remember the carb slide did lift when winding in the screw when it was on the bench. Maybe it still down to the bike needing a good run and clear out ?....sadly with all the white stuff and cold weather that won't happen till Spring lol.... Happy New Year

Nothing comes out of the carb overflow it all just goes into the engine I've got new float valves on the way does any one know the float heights and has anybody else had this issue cheers

Hi guys. Im from south africa. Hopefully someone can help me. I have a yamaha dt 175 2003. I bought the bike 3weeks ago and drove about 200km with no problem. While i was riding the bike just had a sudden loss of power. Went home and took het motor appart. Ordered a new piston kit. Installed the new piston kit and the bike still have no power. Doesnt rev more than 5000rpm. Went and do cranc seals also and new read valves. Problem stays the same. Took the bike to yamaha and they tested all the coils and cdi, new sparkplug, and also the carb. Checked all the fuses and also all the cables if they werent shorting out but all is good. Adjusted up my rear brake before todays ride, turns out it really wasnt doing anything at all! So much more slow control now. However, smells a bit now, its not rubbing as the wheel is free, not heatin up either. Wondered if its just the extra use, possible the parts (shoe, drum, pads, disc i dunno - anyone?) were new too, I picked the bike up for a friend about 3 years ago after n mot prep n service and it didnt get ridden untill last month, and only today did the back brake see any real use. Works really good! Have slackened it off another turn, see if it makes a difference tomorrow.

I'm having a little issue at the minute with my clutch on my yamaha rxs100. Recently fitted a new clutch it felt a bit damp but it was working. Last night on way home from work it started sticking and becoming unresponsive I was sat in traffic lights in 1st gear and bike wouldn't move off.I pumped the clutch a little bit then it would go. Does anyone know what it could be before I start taking it apart. Thank you in advance help would be much appreciated

I just picked up a 2006 XT 125R and the fork seals need changing. anyone has an idea how i can tune the damping? I have done this on mountainbike forks many times but its my first time opening up a moto fork. the compression seems ok but my main complaint is that the rebound seems way underdamped (or perhaps there's no rebound circuit at all in these cheap little buggers?), on high speed impacts it seems to rebound a bit too fast and id like to slow it down (heavier oil? revalving?) also there's a metal clack as the fork goes back to full length after bigger bumps, is this normal or did someone lose some kind of topout bumper from there? thanks a lot for…

I have just got myself a Scottoiler and was wondering, what oil do you use in it? Must I use the stuff they sell or can I use standard 20-50 motor oil instead, it's just that I have shed loads of 20-50 car oil and the oil they sell is a tad expensive like £6 for 500 mil. I can get half a gallon of rough car oil for that, so anyone know what will work and what won't? Thanks all.

Ok bike starts lovely now first or second kick and ticks over great...she will appear to rev OK stationary but when you ride her she sounds and feels like she has run out of fuel and just about to burst into life but doesn't do so....so you get this hesitation/bogging at 1/2 throttle and above. Cannot say I have ridden her far as she has no insurance, tax or MOT just up our road a couple of times but she seems poorly .....carb is spotless and I'm out of idea's as what else to try....main jet wrong ?...didn't see any numbers on it when it was last out...well non were obvious ...

Hey guys and gals, Well its not a yam but im having some strange issues with my mates 2007 Speedmaster (carbs) and was wondering if you had any ideas? Quick story to set the scene; My journey to work is 12 miles there then 14 miles home (different route home) he went away on board ship on manouvors and left me his bike to do a full service simples. He bought the full kit off ebay and all of the kit was genuine Triumph parts except the air filter was the wrong size so i had to keep his original one in the bike but thankfully it was still nice and clean with minimal dirt in it. I took it out for a ride to warm her up ready to drain the oil and she rode g…

Hi, was wondering if i got get some advice on a 1996 DT175 that i'm trying to get running. The bike has been sitting around unused for a couple of years. Without the motor running, if i put the bike into first gear and pulled the clutch lever in but cannot push the bike, it's like the clutch has not disengaged. I started the bike in neutral and the exhaust was quite smokey. I held the clutch in and put it into first and the motor stall (with clutch lever pulled in). Tried again with a few more revs at idle and was able take off in first but noticed the oil light remained on so shut the bike down. The oil bottle/pump has not been used by the previous owner, they ju…

Hi all, I am trying to get my bike running again after being off the road since 2008. Things I have done so far are, Replaced inlet manifold Replaced Carb for second hand one, first one was lost when it was sent to be cleaned up Replaced starter motor, original was knackered New plugs. Got a good spark and she turns over nice and quick. Just need a new O'ring for the inlet manifold as when I removed it today to check the carb I saw one was missing. Main thing is it has been a while since I have worked on the bike and my photos have gone AWOL for how all the fuel and vacum pipes were arranged to plumb the carb into the fuel system. Thanks
