    i thing my bike needs a service the engine seems to be noisey and the gear change is terrable. what grade of oil can i use for it? and will car oil do the job? also when i got my bike it had an illegal exhaust can on it now i have fitted an origional one the engine doesnt behave the same and idles at 2500 rpm when its warm any way of making it idle at 800 ish? and haw do you do it. thanks andrew.

    Hi everyone. Can u believe it, some one dumped a yamaha engine and exhaust on my front yard. Scince all the gears and clutch seems to work, im keen to re-build it and use it on an ag-bike. Only problem is I have no idea what engine it is. I was wondering if the engine can be identified by engine number, or by sight. It looks to be a 2 stroke but had a 4 stroke exhaust (no power pipe) Engine number 576-100143 can any 1 help me?

    Hi all, I'm trying to get my 1978 DT175 started. I finally got the tank cleaned out and filled it with gas and now I'm trying to start the sucker with the kickstarter. I pulled the choke and verified the fuel line was open and not clogged. I kicked the hell out of it to no avail. It actually did make a brief putter (.5 seconds) like it was starting up but then quickly died. The bike has been sitting for a year is what the previous owner told me. The fuel lines aren't clogged, the clutch appears to be operating smoothly, which makes me think it may be that my spark plug isn't firing.     The carbs on my xs 850 have jets numbered 1.22. the book recommends 1.45. Do you think changing to the big size will help top end power.

    mate has just bought a fzr600r race bike with a rod poking through the crank case .... not very nice, when we are replacing the engine can a thundercat engine be bolted straight in (physically they are identical) but it's the wiring loom and carbs exhaust etc..... i dont see there being much of a problem but any helpl would be appreciated. p.s. the broke engine has a tuned head, although i haven't lifted the head yet to see where the piston is burried, but dont know if head would work on thundercat bottom end thanks Crow

  11. I have been searching and searching for an aftermarket exhaust system/muffler for my bike and have had no such luck I would greatly appreciate any input at all. Can I maybe put exhaust from an old fzr on it or what please help thanks!

    Hi all, Could someone give me any advice on whats causing the clutch to slip at high revs. It does it under hard acceleration . i have replaced the friction plates and that seemed to make it worse, now i cant even adjust the clutch so the bike will ride off without clutch slip... on striping it down the second time i have noteised the release bearing is in need of replacing but i dont think it is that simple ..is it??

    Some of the things I have done is test the rectifier, and it seems good. I tested the coils on the stator and they are all within the right resistance. I tested from ring to ring on the rotor (brushes out), and there is 5 ohms resistance. The only thing that I thought was odd, was the brushes were connected together. The brush with the smaller metal clip was screwed into the top left of the holder (left side of the holder) and the one with the larger clip was on the right side with it screwed into the top left, top right, and bottom right. There was no connection to the bottom left screw. With the brushes out, there is a 36 ohm resistance between the two brush wires. I po…

    my 4dl has problems in the wet.normally its fine ,but when its wet it sometimes cuts out when pulling away and hard to start even when bumping.it also revs very high when tikkin over.in the dry it runs great & starts ok.i think personally its electrical possibly how the coils are positioned (fitted to outer casing).any help much appreciated.cheers brian

    Hi guys, am new here and looking for a wee bit of advice. I picked up my new ybr on Thursday, my first bike. I had done approx 60 miles since then and everything had been fine, until last night. I was on a nice open road, there was a very short left bend, nice and easy to take. I was doing approx 30mph and in the middle of my lane. When i tried to turn left to continue around the bend, the steering locked. I gradually started to drift to the right in a diagonal line and no matter how hard i tried, I couldn't straighten up to turn.     [email protected] am assembling a Yamaha TT125 engine and in the service manual it shows to line the mark ( I ) on the crankshaft rotor with the pointer on the case , and also with the camshaft marks in line on the cylinder head. My question is on the rotor there are two more II marks just past the single I mark . These two marks are closer to TDC than the single I mark , just a bit confused which do I use ? Thanks George
