Hey all i currently own a 1986 yamaha fz600 and as most of you prolly know, they are extremely hard to find parts for...aside from buying them from Yamaha. My question is, can i repair cracked or broken fairings? both of my lower fairings are completely broke in half. I tried some J-B Weld but that didnt hold good enough. Any imput would be greatly appreciated. And can any fairings from any of the newer bikes fit with a little mod.?Thanks-

Hi I have a 1988 FZR750 Genesis and it is making a light slapping noise when cold. Is this normal or have I got the start of a larger engine problem? It runs fine but also can loose power at low revs which might just mean it needs some new plugs, any ideas would be welcome. Thanks Andy

I just purchased a brand new 2006 XT225VC Dual Sport (California Model) from my local Yamaha dealer here in SW Missouri. They bought a bunch of both models at auction and are blowing them out cheap. I bought the California version because it was priced $300 less than the Standard 48 State model. I can see differences between the two bike... primarily with emissions plumbing, charcoal canister, etc. Does anyone know if there are differences with the California model that would impede its power, torque, or fuel economy? I can't see where the emisions plumbing would have any negative affects, other than adding a few pounds of weight. I will be using this bike for…

My 600n 1997 is leaking from a tube near the centre stand, I topped up the oil on Sunday. It was just below upper level marker when I had finished. Took it out a run and filled up with petrol. When I went to leave the petrol station there was a large amount of oil under the bike. Now 3 days later it is still coming out, and the window shows only half full of oil. Any one shed some light on this for me. Thanks Paul

Hello all. Just found this site whilst searching for answers to the nightmares that I am having with my bike. I have a recently acquired 1997 XJ600S Diversion and the handling is scary to say the least. At low speed (below 40mph) it feels like the bars are trying to oscillate when riding in a straight line. Any road surface irregularity will set off handlebar oscillation. The back end feels like it is constantly weaving from side to side. It is about ten times worse in the wet. Tyres are Avon HKM with pressures set 33/40. Rear tyre has slightly flat profile, obviously from lots of commuting by previous owner, but still plenty of tread left. Rear shock set on seco…

Hi. I wrecked my brand new 2006 R6 learning to ride it. To keep a long story short, I'm a huge idiot who made a 10,000 mistake. I can't take pictures detailing the damage yet, but I can describe a bit of the damage. The front end of the frame snapped off that connected the front wheel/handle bars to the bike and the windshield and side view mirrors are non existent. The middle and rear end of the body is mainly intact, including the engine. The only major damage to the rest of the bike/engine (aside from the plastic flimsy molding) it is a dent in my headers and I believe the oil pan was ripped open. The engine had about 10 miles total on it. I can either try …

Can anyone tell me if it's possible - easily - to tune my Yamaha SR 125? I'm fairly clued up as to the mechanics of engines etc, but know nothing about tuning them. Is it possible to tune this engine? It's a 1996 model, and I'd really just like it to have a little more ooomph going up hills. Cheers, Ben

Hi everyone, My name is David Shaw I am an engineering student in the Isle Of Man. As part of my course I must design and manufacture a product as part of my project assignment. As I am a new rider on an FZ6 I have decided to design a top handlebar clamp for the FZ6 and FZ6 Fazer model bikes. I have put together a brief questionnaire as part of my research and was hoping to place it on here in the forums with the aim to gain some feedback from other FZ6 owners, which would hopefully help me in my project. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me put it on here as I tried just pasting it in but wasn't sure on how people would reply! Any help would be gre…

Hi guys, hoping someone here might be able to help me out Bought a rear caliper for a project I'm building, but I'm not sure what it came from. So far I'm pretty sure it's Yam, maybe fz or ypvs?? It's quite small, single piston sliding caliper. Anybody recognise it??? Cheers for having a look

This is going to sound stupid but.... I've had a YB for a while now, and considering it's a 91, it needed a lot of work. I got it running, and sorted the major problems, and set to work on the little things. It's been inside for a few weeks now while I fiddled with the electrics (and she doesn't like the cold). I can't seem to get it into neutral, at all. I can go all the way up, all the way down, forwards, backwards and sideways, gentley, softly, while whispering sweet nothings to it and it seems to have vanished. Oh dear. Any ideas?

Taking my 2000 Road Star XV16 in for the transmission recall and am thinking about upgrading to one of the speedstar stage competition configurations. I'm looking for anyone who has done this and what you thought about the change. I've already got the dyna 3000 ignition module, K&N air filter, larger carb jets, vance & hines long shots & factory OEM exhaust (running the stock exhaust now - with the longshots, no boby likes to ride behind me! Plus, it's a lot louder on the highway than the stock exhaust). I'd like to do the upgrade while the bikes apart for the recall. I don't intend on racing the bike. Just looking for a little more bang. Also, trying …

Hi Have just rec'd a letter from Yamaha UK re a safety issue re XV1600 gearbox (4th gear pinion). Have contacted my dealer and am advised that the engine must be completely stripped to install new parts. I would like to know if this is a design problem material defect batch problem or manufacture I am not doubting the quality of work that my dealer can perform but would like to receive any advise if this is applicable to all XV1600 machines. I understand there was a recal in 2003 re the gearbox circlip but my Y2000 machine was not effected. Any comments very much app…
