Hi Guys, Im just about to service my 1998 thundercat ready for the summer, if it ever come's. Im after some general help, im going to change the plugs, air filter, oil filter, oil, but how much oil should it take?, and the other thing is how much slack should be on the chain? The cat is running fine apart from one thing, it seems to hunt a little on idle is this normal? Hope their is some help out there, kind regards whillis

NEED SOME HELP I WITH MY SUSPENSION THE FRONT IS LIKE A JELLY BOUNCY AND WOBBLY THE REAR IS LIKE HAVING A STEEL BAR AND NOT A SHOCKER I THOUGHT 5W OR 7W FORK OIL AND NEW SPRINGS IN THE FRONT BUT NOT TO SURE ABOUT THE REAR ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT AS I NEED TO FIX IT BFORE THE SPRING .........

Hello, I'm new to the forum and have a question about gas tanks. I own a 1981 Maxim 550 (XJ550) and am looking for a replacement tank. I have come across several from other Maxim models (XJ650, XJ1100, etc...). I would like to know what tanks are direct fits for my bike. Thanks in advance for any help with this. Paul

2006 Fazer: ~1,700miles only. When changing UP have always felt a minor mechanical notch-like resistance from new, particularly when short-shifting - much sweeter at higher revs. Recently noticed that this notch-like resistance has increased, 2nd->3rd and above. Even more recently gear lever feels springy on upchange (no notch-like resistance as such) and it is impossible to change up, continue in lower gear for a while and try again... Originally I had associated the problem with commute based (engine hardly stressed) short-shifting but coming off the motorway, i.e. running for long period at speed problem recurred. s'pose it is a how long is a piece of string, but how much does it cost to prepare and powder coat a frame and swing arm ? saw it done on the telly with wheel for a vintage car . . looks quite hard work so guess it is expensive. Also not knowing anything about the process are the different types of coating and is there anything to watch out for ? and is it specialist for bikes or will I get a similar result from anyone I pull out of the yellow pages ?

hi the problem is as follows, the advance /retard valve arm goes like a sewing machine when the engine is running. whilst in france bike started losing power on hills or flat road. the conclusion was the advance retard valve which was changed on repatriation to england. although the valve arm is still going like the clappers she now runs,but a bit ragged. is there another cause for this problem perhaps on the vacuum side as if you pinch the vacuum tube to the valve ,the fluctuation of the valve stops and you can of course open the throttle and increase revs cleanly but due to vacuum line being closed it wont retard and stalls i cant find anyone who has had this problem s…

Please help i've recently brought a dt 125, and after having a look over it i decided to have the barrel rebored . after refitting the new piston in the rebored barrel and starting it up. it ran nice on tickover untill abit of throttle was used and then pop. removed the head/barrel and i now have a smashed piston , so purchased a new piston checked the port edges for smoothness replaced everything again started it up. again tickover fine a few revs and then pop . any ideas guys regards liam

hi all just wondering is how can i check my speedometer is giving me a true reading?? the reason i ask is that every time i slow down for speed cameras ( and there are loads of the f***ers around me ) i seem to be going a touch slower than everone else. ie there's a main road that i use quite often that goes from 40 to 30 with a camera in the 30 zone.. i slow to 33-30 and cars start to overtake me ,, i know its not a big problem but it happens every time at every camera and im concerned if i am gowing to slow, some old dear is gonna mistake me for a traffic hump. it could be worst i know,,it could be saying im not going fast enough then get flashed for doing what…

hi, can any1 help having trouble with lefthand side carb it will only run with the choke on, two people have said to check pilot jet isnt blocked it aint and air vent in fuel cap cleaned out, sounds lovely and crisp on choke until it warms up then just sound choked up turn of choke just wants to cut out and just doesnt sound right on the lefthand side HELP

i just got a wr450f but i'm a bit lacking in technical knowledge. my bike stalled yesterday and wouldn't restart. at first it was turning over but not firing so i thought the battery might be low or the plugged fouled. i took the plug out and it was black so i cleaned it up and i had the battery on to charge. now the bike won't even turn over i just get a really loud and repetetive clicking sound coming from the battery area. i have no idea what to do and now it's really bugging me. any ideas?
