Hi everybody, I just surfed a bit on ebay and found all these nice GenTech engines and stuff like that, and I was wondering if it is possible to drop the original engine of the xvs 650 and squeeze something like that 100 hp engines into the frame without customizing the frame. Has somebody ever tried this? Servus from Austria

My bike fell over the other day on my patio and the tank got a little dinged up when it met the low rock wall. There are also some small scratches I can probably touch up on the plastics. The tank is dented with paint chipping though... not sure whether to buy a pricey new tank or try and have it repaired. I seem to be at a cross roads in regards to the color though... I think it is Vivid Red Cocktail #7 (VCR7), but some places/painters like Color-Rite.com have it listed as Vivid Red Cocktail #1(VRC1). I think some R1s were done with the VRC1 and it is more of a Ferrari red, while my bike is a darker red... or are they the same color and I'm worrying about nothing. T…

Hi i have just bought a cheap Yamaha DT100 for field use, i have rebuilt most of the bike except the electrics. I have had the flywheel off, there appears to be 3 coils under it, 2 with 2 wires, and one with just one black wire. Could someone explain what they are each for? Do any of them produce a current to power a light? I just want a basic setup, to allow the engine to run, and a kill switch, i also have a CDI box for it, and the coil. Bascailly i need to know which wires from the engine, connect to where on the cdi/coil. Thanks alot. Darren

Error in the title, its a 600r '02 I'm new here and thought I'd get some advice before tackling this problem myself. The rod that pokes out of the transmission which is used to engage the clutch broke. I don't have a shop manual for it yet but I'm assuming I'm going to have to open up the transmission and replace the clutch disk/rod assembly (I don't really know what it looks like or if its one piece). Have any of you guys done this and is it worth the trouble or should I take it to a shop and let them deal with it? Thanks a bunch! Chris

Been a reader for a while just registered and here I am. I always said that I would never join a club that would have me as a member… but here I am. There is a first time for everything, including me asking for advice. I’m currently riding a DT125RE (04) which has Michelin T63 road legal tyres factory fitted. These are the ONLY tyres Yamaha recommend for this ride. I never “ride off road” am just a lover of the DT! Now half worn I'm looking to replace these tired tyres but after having felt the back end slip away a little once upon a corner, I’m tempted to fit road tyres. I’m now convincing myself that these T63 tyres are no good for 100% road use. I have toyed a…

Hi Guy's and Gals, I have stripped my rear shocks down and took the chromy bits to be re-chromed, but alas they won't touch my dampers (ooo missus!). The chrome has rubbed off in places and has anyone got an opinion as to the best way to either remove the chrome without destroying the seals inside or the safer way, to paint over it. I am mindful of the fact that paint does come off easily on chrome items (looking at rat bikes) I have german market shocks so they are all chrome whereas the brit yams have black satin finish on just the dampers. cheers in advance Drewpy
