When setting the points I place it on top dead center with the line on the motor case and the t on the flywheel. Then I set the points about .016 is the points suppost to be open all the way? If so, Its not. if I turn the flywheel by hand and fully open the points it opens .047 ! I had another bike 1979 honda xr80 that went bad on me and it turned out to be the stator. I cant find a new stator anywhere. So Im hoping that it is not the stator that is bad just my ability to work on it is the problem. But plea…

Hi, I need help. two weeks ago some old git reversed into my bike knocking it off its stand onto the right hand side, all the damaged caused was cosmetic thanks to some crash bungs!, i contacted my insurance company who got the ball rolling and took the bike in to get repaired but later on i had the old gits nsurers on offering to do all the work. I decided too stick to my insurers and said no thanks, so my insurers checked the bike and said it was close to being cat 3 write off but would repairit because it was in exceptional condition. I thought this would be it sorted and back to me but today i received a letter from his insurers saying they were …

Howdy, I'm a newbe here so let me introduce myself, I'm FiremanDave from Dallas Texas, USA. I'm a fair wrench on American made bikes, I own an Indian, I have to be. LOL. My question concerns my wifes 650 V-star classic, it has started to leak oil, at first I thought it was my Indian, but I was able to chase the leak to the rear cylinder, where the AIS (air induction system) port goes into the head. My question is how is this port attached (pressed in, screwed in etc). The leak is not sever, but I hate oil on the garage floor. Any help would be appriciated.

Just before christmas, I was given (yes, there are nice people out there) a non running 1993 XTZ660 3YF and was told that all I needed to get it running was a cdi unit, regulator/rectifier and a coil (and a lot of cleaning). I purchased these items on e-bay as well as a Yamaha service manual. My query is the new regulator/rectifier, which is a small rectangular ish black box (the same as shown in the manual) is totally different to the one attached to the bike, which is a large thing with fins. Is it just the case of swapping the two items over or do I just use the original one (I was told the new cdi and reg/rec are designed to work together). Not being electrically mind…

Help needed!!! I have a 03 Yamaha Fazer Fz600 and the battery has drained over winter and it has an MoT tomorrow morning. When I put it on charge again for a couple of hours it doesn’t seem to be enough to start the bike. I get a clicking noise from near the battery when I press the start switch(assuming it’s the relay) and from under the seat when the ignition is on. I tried to use a battery from my brothers scooter (New battery and fully charged, showing 12.11volts) but to no avail? Is it because the battery is defective or the immobiliser is not letting it start? I can change the battery tomorrow but if i do will i need to use the red key to reset the immobilis…

I am hoping to fit some adjustable aftermarket rearsets to my bike, so I need to know what modern kit might be easlity adaptable as there is nothing specifically available for the Genesis anymore, so far as I know. Thanks
