Hi everyone. I need some advice on this 1984 Yamaha 225 shaft driven 3 wheeler. My son brought home this 3 wheeler that he thought would be a good project for us the thing came home with quite a few parts in coffee cans, whats puzzling me is a parts forum shows brake lever on left and right handle bars and brake footpeg on right side, the shifter is on the left operated by left foot going up through the gears, if all the levers are for brakes what operates the clutch to shift gears, also on the rear drive axle theres a hose broken off on the very top of azle housing whats this hose for and wheres the other end go before it was torn off. Thanks everyone in advance, my son …

Hello. I went to remove my panels so I could clean the grime and bird s**t which dribbled down the back of my panel (Air Filter Element side) but when I did, the bolt has threaded and I can't remove it... The panel has been removed a few times when I got my alarm/immobilser fitted and did notice the panel weren't sitting flush against hole. Wondering whats the best was to remove the bolt without damaging the panel and will the plastic where the bolt goes in have to be changed or re threaded? Thanks

OK, somehow - I have no idea how - I've got the back brake to seize on after I adjusted the back wheel for a slack chain on my YBR. It's a drum brake, with a rod and even with that dialed down so loose that the nut isn't even applying any tightness. I thought it may have been because of the torque arm - but I can't seem to make any adjustments on that, or am I missing something? [And this is why I shouldn't attempt maintenance myself...]

How can CMS parts cost so much more than Yambits..is quality better?? XT250 Diaphragm from CMS (http://www.cmsnl.com): 60.59 pounds (83 Euro) Complete carb rebuild kit from Yambits: 32.79 pounds (Yambits don`t seem to sell the part loose) Prices include shipping to South Africa (CMS charge 42 pounds to ship that little diaphragm..holy crap man!) So would cost me double for just the diaphragm from CMS than complete carb kit from Yambits..WTF? Next step check what the agents will charge.

So, on my big and shiny XJ6, it came prefitted with Hotgrips [Oxford ones] Thing is, they're wired direct to the battery, so can be switched on and off even when the bike isn't on. At least the person who did this had the wisdom to tuck the controls out of sight, to prevent dicks people activating it when I'm not there... How much of a challenge would it be to rewire them to something like the lights [or where else would be better?], so that the key actually needs to be in for them to work - and I can't accidentally forget to turn them off. Because they were already fitted, I don't have any instructions/diagrams. [Obviously, I will search the interwebs when I nee…

ive finished rebuilding the top end and engine after exhaust valve dropped and thrashed my piston. all new oem partts inside, except for clutch and tranny. now, she starts and i can ride her but she backfires and when i accelerate she jerks slowes down then jerks forward and speeds up again on any gear but it is worse on third, fourth and fifth she cant even reach her max speed with all that going on. I have tried to adjust the fuel mix screw on carb and still the same. i have the stock air box on and have not changed the exhaust. what could it be? the fuel is new and so is the oil. i have checked the valve clearances and they have been set as suggested by the manufacture…

hey guys I've got a technical question for you my DT 125 LC mk1 1982 which I recently purchased has a 6v battery which I'm thinking of replacing since not only does it need a new one but I wish to run a digital ignition (keyless) system and alarm that requires 12v I dont want to have to add a secondary battery I'd like to replace the current one with a 12v battery instead since unlike sport bikes theres not much room to hide things. The bike is currently being restored by myself and my father with occasion help from a mechanic so project "difficulty" doesn't really matter as long as its possible I'm thinking of changing the speedo to something more modern like a digital o…

Hi all Wondering if someone can help me out here. Just replaced the ignition on my YBR125 (carbed model) and now the spark plug isn't sparking. Replaced it, still no spark. I'm suspecting that either the coil or the CDI has gone but I'm not sure how to check it. Don't know if I was testing it right but I seemed to be getting power into the CDI (hovering around 10 volts, don't know if it was a bad connection or what) but couldn't get anything at the coil. I really don't want the CDI to have blown because that's probably the most expensive part of the electrical system.. Seen a few reports of problems with the spark plug after changing the ignition on this bike, som…

Hi guys, Hoping for a bit of advice. I've recently replaced the brake hose on my ybr as part of a caliper overhaul and although it was described as fitting my bike, the new SS one is much longer than the original.. Pics below : http://imgur.com/TYDhgGw http://imgur.com/E7ulHj7 http://imgur.com/ZhWw9OB I can't seem to find a route for the hose that doesn't leave it flapping around. It moves from lock to lock with no problem but I'm wondering if it's going to be a problem for the MOT? Does anyone have any experience of this? Are they just checking it to see that it didn't foul on the frame/other parts when you move the steering, or will an excessively long hos…

Ok folks time to ask for some help, I have had the carbs off of the FJ 3 times now, first time to change the float needle and seats/filters cos they were old and a bit worn out & dripped a bit, now the frigging things leak like anything, it's a right pain in the arse to take them off and so I'm trying to find out what I'm doing wrong. Bought new filters and seats plus needles and installed them as usual, checked the float height and finally figured out how to adjust them (thanks Mc) but now the damned things leak, I can't see what is wrong, checked the floats to see if they are tight, they are, no leaks. It has a fuel pump so it runs under pressure not a vacuum fuel t…
