Right hand side of the bike behind engine is full of coolant over exhaust, frame and swingarm after every ride. Today it was so much it formed small puddle under the bike while parked. Removed sidecover and notice coolant reservoir level very high..just under filler cap. So it seems it must be coming out through the cap. Question is why is it so high when after the restoration I made sure level was between high and low marks? So now do I just drain some coolant or is there something else going on. Temp gauge maintains just under halfway mark while riding in our hot temperatures. Is the reservoir cap maybe not sealing properly?

i have had my FZ6 for about a year and a half now, and it has has Leo Vince Evo II cans on it for the duration. At the weekend i had a shot of one of my mates Fz6, the naked one, and noticed that his pulls alot better through the revs. He has the same cans as me, but has a Powercommander and said the previous owner removed the AIS system? Firstly, I dont have a power commander. I had never noticed the flat spot between 3500-6000 rpm(ish) untill i had a shot of the other bike. So i know that i will deffo be buying one when i have the money, and getting it mapped. Secondly, what the hell is AIS? "AIS takes clean air from the air box where it is distributed and p…

Hello, I am looking for some guidance with my current project bike. I am restoring an '89 G TZR125 2RK. I would like to have a working powervalve. I have the pulleys, casing, cover, cables and servo. I have since sourced a CDI from a German / Swiss bike which had a working valve. I keep seeing mails about the powervalve controller; is this a seperate piece of kit or is it incorporated into the EU spec CDI? My contact in Germany has also offered me a different carburettor assuming that the EU spec had a larger carb? Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks & Kind Regards

Hi folks, I've not been on here for a long while, so feel a bit of a cad asking for help. I took the Divi out last Friday, it was a really naff day with lots of mucky spray. Got to the local bike shop and whilst manoeuvring to park, the bike cut out. I thought, what a numpty you've stalled it, but when I tried to start it there were no electrics. I'll say at this point, there were no issues with the ride in, and that this was an immediate terminal issue. It was like I'd hit the kill switch. With some movement of the bars, I got the ignition lights but when you hit the starter there is a click under the seat and everything disappears again. My knowledge of electri…

Hi peeps. I have a 78 xs250 I restored, from early on, I intended to convert to a 400. I purchased a set of 400e carbs(well I was told they where, or sold as) some time ago, any way, after stripping the motor, and commenced the change over, that seamed to go ok. and now got to the carbs, something is not right, it appears, its either the float cover chamber is wrong or the carbs. on checking the parts book I have, the part No.2A2-14984-01, which didn't look correct, so had to order p/n 2a2-11351-00, with the hole in it.. the float chamber I have looks like the correct, from the Parts book. so can anyone shed any light on this, please check photos. PS hope it all …

I had to install a new CDI on my 1982 Maxim, the dash lights had worked prior to this but on a ride out last week when it got dark rather quickly I found my dash lights have both gone. First question how do I take the dash apart to check the bulbs, although unlikely both have blown, secondly what else could it be? thanks Tamara

Hi. My first post here so please be gentle with me ;-) Bought a tw125 a few weeks back and I'm really pleased with it. However it's just started mucking about. If anyone could give me a couple of pointers I'd appreciate it. I'm suspecting a carburettor issue. Once started it runs great. Starter motor turns over fine. Good compression, there's a good spark and I can bump start quite easily. It doesn't idle correctly - either running too fast or too slow and thens stalls. Once it stalls, it turns over but will only fire after a long struggle! I have had the carburettor apart and the starter plunger was a bit stiff to get back in to the housing so I'm won…

Hi guys, I'm looking to start tinkering with my baby Dragstar but want to be sure that I'm doing everything by the book. Unfortunately it looks like there isn't one so I was wondering if any of the other manuals out there are near enough to give me an idea of where to start. I may be completely wrong but I was hoping that wiring layouts etc would be the same on the 650 or possibly on the old XV125? I know there is a service manual out there but the websites selling it all seem skeevy as hell and heck, I'm no mechanic... it'd probably be hieroglyphics to me anyway! Feel free to tell me I'm a pillock, but if you don't ask you never know eh? And everyone has to…

My XT decided to start blowing only the headlight bulb. Replaced it after 100km trip and it blew again just going down the road. Am I to suspect regulator? It has been suggested I fit a 24volt bulb in there which should last. Wat you guys think?

I realise this has been covered in the past but to avoid having to go through a load of old threads, I thought I'd start a new one. Ok, my question is this... Can any more power be gained from this little engine? I'm not looking for loads of extra top speed, but merely a little more power to be able to hold the speed a bit easier when faced with wind or hills. Anyone's personal experience with air filters or different carbs etc would be greatly appreciated. Please avoid the sarcastic remarks like - "yeah more power can be gained by passing your test and buying a bigger bike - hahahahah" I'm well aware of this, I just want to improve my wee bike as I'm quite f…

I have recently bought an SR 125 as a cheap means of travel and alternative to my car. After buying the bike I have changed the oil, cleaned and oiled the air filter, changed the spark plug, cleaned the carb and checked the chain tension. My problem is that I am only getting 59MPG. I am led to believe that i should be getting 80MPG+. Can anyone shed any light on what might be wrong? It seems to be running ok. Maybe a tad rich at 3/4 throttle but nothing serous. The bike will also sit comfortably at 50mph but struggles to do more than 60mph. I am 6'3" and 15 stone but surely that wouldn't make that big a difference? Very frustrating as I bought this to save me…

Hi All, My 02 600 fazer has just gone past the 60000 mark and has developed a couple of issues, first of I now have an annoying knock from the top end which several garages have said not to worry about as they are just wear noises and this week gear change has gone stiff but only changing up not down. with regard to the gear box does anyone have any idea what could be the cause and is it an easy fix. Cheers Stu
