i have not noticed the glitch on my 07 r1 as yet.my bike is an import ( im going to check with the dealer to see if it is a USA import .the USA imports are the only bikes that are having the problem it seems .and it is a problem and a serious problem .so serious my bike will be dropped off at the dealers if it is effected .Yamaha are denying the problem exists and are calling it a characteristic of the bike.NO not good enough ,the problem is if the throttle is nailed at 5,500rpm there is a major dead spot before the bike picks up ( approx 4 secs ).it is an emmissions problem that is behind the glitch from what i have found out ,which explains the only bikes effected being…

Hello all. I have an 04 R6, fitted a Micron oval slip on and K and N filter. Now the 'flat spot' between 6500 - 9500 has become quite apparant. Considering getting a power commander, but wondered if anyone had experienced one, and could tell me if it improves much and is it worth the cost. Cheers.

  7. iv only done 200 miles on my 07 R1 and it could be too early to say .im not happy with the stiffer suspension setup when compared to the previous R1s ( iv owned 5 previous models ).the bike is turning slow ( could be the tyres ) and the rear is far too stiff.im 13.5 stone ,so not light aswell.i have a very rough idea on setup but i know its very easy to do it all wrong ,especially when there is 7 different places to alter the setup .the obvious one to do first would be the rear rebound i think .what are other riders doing to their 07 R1s ? i ride on the road and i ride fast ,so i need to get it setup as good as i can.if i can get it the same setup as my old 05 R1 which wa…

There are a million things wrong with the street bike I'm working on but until I sort out the drive train, nothing else really matters. Right now, I'm working on the engine and the clutch and I have found myself at a deficit in information on how to find the parts I need to replace. Do any of you have any information on finding fz750 parts in general, or on these parts in particular: Engine: intake manifold cam sprocket bolts I-1 camshaft cap spark plugs Clutch: small pushrod ball basket

  10. Situation: I pulled apart my left crankcase on my '92 Yamaha Virago VX1100 to replace my starter clutch. Problem: The bolts are several different lengths and I don't remember which go where. So I guessed and used the Cylmer manual to determine the torque settings. It said 10M=28lbs & 6M=7lbs. I guessed that the longer bolts where 10M. So I tourqed the 1st one and it busted. So that one must have been the 6M=7lbs. I guess. I was able too remove the busted bolt. Questions: Does anyone know which bolts go where on the left side crankcase? Which are 10M vs 6M? I don't know what that means.

  14. Thank you for taking the time to reading my problem. I have 2 Yamaha bikes right now both with the same problem. When I first start them they only run on 3 cylinders. Once it warms up or if I rev it high the 4th cylinder kicks in. And once hot it runs on all 4. I've went through both carbs with carb cleaner, carb wires(for making sure jets are not clogged) and compressed air for testing the jet passage ways. Both bikes had been sitting and the carbs were gunked up. Even replaced with new gas and some sea foam in it also. The Seca II has Mikuni carbs, not sure of the brand of the Maxim. The left cyl on the Seca is the one and the right cyl on the Maxim are the ones tha…

  15. right, first of all im not sure what the settings for the mixture and idle are supposed to be but ive tryed ultering to solve the problem but it stil does the same thing. when the idle is set too low the engine cuts out (as it should) but when the idle is turned up so it nearly ticks over ok when you rev the bike the revvs stay around 3-5000 and drop slowly if atall. andone got and ideas? or an old tzr handbook they could scan in the info for me . thanks, Dan.

Hi there! I have a problem with my XJ600 which is annoying me quite a bit. Just about at 5000 rpm there is some vibration noise from somewhere on the bike... can't locate the particular spot. It sounds like if it's the fairing or something. Anyone got the same problem or know something helpful... Best regards from Denmark! Andreas Nielsen

Hi, I recently bought a 125cc Drag Star that I've been wanting to get for ages now. I wasn't supplied with a manual with the bike when I bought it and now I realise the chain is really needing tightened as the previous owner had just fitted it (with sprocket) when I bought it. Can anyone give me tips on this? I know how to do it with the nuts that need tightened but do is this ok to do with the bike on it's sidestand? Also it's a little hard to see the exact markings where you'd normally check on each side to make sure it's lined up fine. Is it fine to check the wheel is straight by making sure the length from the tightening nuts to the end of the bolt thread is the sa…

I just found an old Yamaha (I think its an xs650) that I salvaged the spoke wheels off of for my SR500. The thing that is throwing me off on wondering if its an XS650 is that the right front caliper is mounted to the front of the fork. Heres the serial number: 447-111670 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Aaron
