    hello Im new to this sight but i was wondering if anyone can help me i have brought a yamaha xj400z import but the problem is when i turn the ignition on the neutrel light dose not come on although the bulb is ok the engine turnes over fine but i cant get a spark can anyone help thanks

    Hi, I recently had some work done to repair damage after the wind blew my bike over. Ever since the repair (not the storm, it was fine up to the time I got the bike back) the battery has gone flat after 2-3 days doing my regular morning/evening commute through town. Only way to keep it going is not to use headlights, keep revs aboue 2000 whenever possible. Previous battery lasted years, I bought a new one and it lasted 2 days. It is clear the regulator can charge the battery, the service manual says full charge voltage at 5000 RPM. The contacts in the wiring loom are all clean. The battery doesn't go flat when key is off. I can remove all fuses except engine/…

    I have a 1979 Yamaha 1100 XS Problem is no spark. I bought a new Ignition Switch and Wiring Harness. Now as for all the Plugins on the wiring harness,color code wize. All seemed to match up fine. All but, the small 4 prong plug coming from the Ignition unit box(under the seat) to the distributor.?( I call it a distributor it may be called a pickup coil all I know is is that its round , spinds,has 4 wires going to it.so it looks like a Electronic Ignition distributor.)     Ok folks I've just bought a 2000 R1 out here in Korea, I got it at a very good price but I do know it needs some TLC. Koreans have an addiction to bolt ons so I will be changing a lot of things back to stock. However there is one problem which I am not entirely sure what the cause is: The bike is not agreat starter from cold, takes a while to fire and sounds slow off the starter motor, once the engine is running it sounds fine. However if you stop the engine or stall it and the temp is above 70 degrees then you have top wait for the engine to cool down to below 70 before it will restart, also the motor is slow in kicking over again say about 2-3 revs/sec.     I have recently got out of a 04/FJR1300 because of very bad "ticking" (exhaust valve guides suspected) but am interested in a very nice 03/XJR1300 with very low Kms. Is the FJR valve guide problem likely to surface in this motor too? How robust is the XJR motor..any thing I should look out for when test riding it?..cheers, Greg

    Hello, I've been unable to locate a mechanics guide locally. (Springfield Missouri) or a picture from the Yamaha Motors site. I dont know how or why it happened but the threaded part of my middle gear shaft that comes from the crankcase and slides into the U-joint or yoke then has a big O-ring, thick washer type thing and then a nut on the end. the tip of the shaft broke off at the base of this nut. Here is my question....I replaced the middle gear shaft but there are three rings/sleeves that slide onto the fat part of the shaft that is inside the housing and I cant remember what order they went on in and to my untrained eye...I cant see any reason for a certain order or …

    I have a 2006 YZ 250F and was wondering which chain lube that I should use, and the my options are Bel-Ray Chain Lube or PJ1 Blue Label Lube, I am stuck between b/c I dont know the pro and cons of each and I just dont know which one to get. Thanks!!!

    Hi All Im looking at buying a XV125 Virago but its a non runner, been told by the owner it will turn over on the starter, doesn't make any bad noises, sounds like it has comperssion but just wont start. Do the virago's have any common faults to stop them starting like Ignition modules carbs etc I would go and have a look before buying it but its quite a way away so i dont want to end up with a lemon. Any help would be good One other thing, are these restricted output engines, going to take my test soon (couple of months but need a bike now to get to work) and wondered if i can up the power output till i can change to a different bike.

    Hi, I have an old D model yz 250, about 77 model. Got it going again after sitting in a garage for years. It stopped on me relatively suddenly. Took out the plug and replaced it with a new one. Got it going again and it stopped soon after, within 10 minutes. Cleaned both plugs and cheched them, they were working fine. Put plug back in bike, started it, again it shuts down. Checked plug and it appears to be sparking from the white insulator inside the plug to the outer casing. It is not sparking between the electrode? and the pin. Would this be a problem with the CDI or is it a plug/fouling problem. The plugs are not oiled up after use. Thanks. Blinky.

    Hi, I am just rebuilding my rxs100. I have replaced the piston, rings and small end and am now wondering about how to go about running it in! I have no guide lines and so i really have no clue as to how to run it in and for how long to do this for??! Could somebody please help and advise me on what to do. Many thanks

    Hello all. I have just bought the Akrapovic Megaphone slip-on race exhaust for my 06 R6. From what i can gather, the EXUP valve needs to be disconnected to fit this pipe. What exactly does the EXUP system do? What effect does it have on the performance of the bike and how will the bike be different once it's disconnected? Is running the bike without the EXUP valve connected a good thing or a bad thing? Thanks

    Hello all,My self diagnosis thingy on the revcounter on my 1995 FZR 600R keeps coming on to show there is a fault but there isnt as the bike keeps running any ideas how to fix it?its done it for ages and by ages i mean years but it is begginig to bug me now?It stops when i switch to reserve!

    Just wandering if anyone knows, I need to source some parts for my '79 xs250 but that is proving quite difficult. Mainly i need a right hand exhaust (just the end can) but i cant find one anywhere. Parts for the 400 are easier to find, i was just wandering will the parts (exhaust) off a 400 fit my 250 and will it alter the power dramatically (good or bad). If anyone can help me that will be greatly appreciated. Cheers in advance, Chris

    hey all I think ive just had my first carb iceing incident.... ive just been on the motorway and i regularly go at about 80-100mph an i have never had any probs in the 2 yrs ive had the cat and that is in all wethers. i was going at about 95-100 for about 60miles when i has to slow down for trafic so cruising at 80 for about 10 miles when i noticed a drop in power so i rolled on the gas a little and it reluctently gain speed a little but was a little jumpy. when i was free again i went back to 90 ish and it was a lot better but not 100%. i pulled in the the services and let her idle for a good 10 mins till the temp went up to about 90, then continued home …

    I am hoping someone can help. Should the rectifer / regulator on my XJ600 51J get very hot. I have a charging problem. Battery when engine off. 12.5 volts, start the engine it drops to 11.99 volts, put the lights on it drops further to 11 volts. Turn the engine off & the battery climbs back up to 12.5 volts. As the unit gets very hot I am thinking that maybe a fault. Gentlemen your thoughts please.
