I've just been given an xs400 that ran "just" a couple of years ago. I cleaned the carbs and installed new carb kits. When I put them on the bike fired right up. However, it is only running on the right cylinder. It runs well enough that I can ride it with no problem, but still I'd like to have use of the whole engine. The left side gets spark, but doesn't run on that side. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks.

Does anyone know if the lights in the dt125r (1988) run off the battery as well as the lighting coil? My lights are working but only when the engine is running. Also is there a quick way to check if the battery is charging? I've measured the voltage across a new (charged) battery fitted to the bike with the engine running and the voltage is 12.3 not between 13.3 and 15.3 stated in the Haynes Manual. This reading does not change when the engine is switched off. Any advice appreciated.

I was traveling home from work today, doing about 65mph, and the oil light came on for about ten seconds and then went away, it did that twice, and didn't after that. I changed the oil less then 2k miles ago, and it doesn't seem to be leaking, and it seems to be running the same as it always has. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Should I just take my bike somewhere and have some diagnostics ran on it? Thanks

Hi can anyone help I have bought a yamaha xtz750 1990 with a missfire I have cleaned the carbs and checked the settings as it was running very rich but still missfires.Thought I would check the spark so out came the plugs, whilst cranking the engine over smoke started coming from the regulator/rectifier .Could a faulty reg/rect been the reason for the missfire I only cranked it over for about ten seconds. If I just replace the reg/rect is there any chance this will also burn out, any advice and help would be very much appreciated

Hi, I've recently purchased a DT125R (2 stroke) 2003 and have a couple of questions that i need some help with. 1. There is an oil filler cap by the kickstart and a viewing glass below it. It would appear as there is a line on the engine case next to the glass that it is need of some oil as there is none visable. Can anyone please tell which oil is recommended and if this line is a maximum or minimum. 2. The bike seems to run okay, it was a little rough initally as it had been stood for 12 months. I've let the tank get almost empty and put fresh petrol in, however the bike runs fine up until 7-8K Revs and then seems to loose perofrmance (Still runs but will stru…

Hi you (hopefully very helpful) Yamaha owners! I'm brand new to the forum, and already I have a question. Please bear with me, not only am I technologically challenged, I don't know my carb from my spark plug (but at least I know I only have one of them on my 125) So here's the thing: I've got a lovely little 1996 SR125, goes well most of the time, but she stalls at the most unexpected moments, mainly when I am stopped at traffic lights or braking to a roundabout (most disconcerting!) She also seems to lose power on the dual carriageway, then suddenly sparks up as if someone's put a rocket up her! So I've looked online and have established that other…

I have an rs100 I have set the auto-lube gap to the Manuals speciation as well cleaned and reset the carb and checked everything else. When I run the bike for the first few hours it runs perfectly and the slowly it goes back to the same problem , of poor and delayed acceleration almost as if it is starving for either fuel or oil. When I set it up I have good smoke, when it gets poor I have allot of smoke blowing especially when it’s warmed up. A friend has recommended cutting out the auto-lube system altogether and doing a mix in the tank, is this a good idea and does anybody know what the mix ratio is? Or does anybody know what’s I am doing wrong? Thanks …

Hi good people, I'm new here and require some desperate help to remove the rotor from the crankshaft of my sons Tzr 125r a 4DL italian import. As you are all probably aware a workshop manual is rarer than rocking horse shite and all pictures I've seen don't look anything like his. The windings are attached to the outer casing and rotor appears to have the starter sprag clutch bolted to it, I assume after removal of the centre nut the rotor pulls off the tapered shaft. I have a two legged puller but this fails to even look like shifting it. Any help much appreciated. Guess somebody will ask why I'm stripping it well the crankshaft seals are shot and theres some lift in t…

  19. Hi anyone, I've torn down a 1994 yz250 two cycle engine only to find a burned piston and rod bearing. The crank case sections are apart. I need to pull the crank. Do I have to use the Yamaha "screw out the crank tool" or is there another method to remove the crank from the right side? I have another spare crank and rod, so all I have to do is swap. Also, is installation the reverse of removal? Any proven methods to get things moving again, would be appreciated. Many Thanks!
