Just wondering about my performance on a 06 R6 does anyone know if the performance would be better for a dual pipe or just a straight pipe custom made. I can build the exhaust myself but im not too sure if it would be such a good idea. Here are some ideas: 1) 4-2 system for a dual 2) 4-2-1 system for a straight or 3) 4-2 with a extra connector somewhere in the middle for another dual.

Just bought my 2000 v-star , the owner deliverd it to my house that day , ran it a couple of times. walked away wife came home, so she wanted to here it run. Hit the switch and sputtered turned over couple more times then it started...but when i gave it throttle she died instantly, did this couple more times and she did same thing. Went out later that night tried to start it up turned a couple of times then backfired once. that was enough. Talked to previous owner and had asked if he winterized it he said no...Is this my problem, if so can I fix this. I'm sure it is gunk in carburator please tell me if this is possible or is this the cure... Thanks

Hi! water pump problem & shim sorted thanks To very helpful Penny Cox on behalf of Heynes Manuals. What I need to know now ; is there a 2 into 1 exhaust system for this bike on the market, or does anybody out there know of a reputable manufacturer that could build a system? I use this bike as a track tool but with the standard cans its a bit like going 2 up with an elephant!

My 650 maxim starts great, but when I shift into first gear, it kills the engine. it does this until the engine is warmed up a bit and the rpms high. I know the kickstand has a kill switch that kills the engine if the kick stand goes down with the bike in gear.....could it be connected or related to that or another type of kill switch? Any help is appreciated.

My yamaha 1100 sat for two years ( don't ask <G>) and would start ok with choke out but wouldn't run if I tried to accelerate. Ran some carb cleaner through it, drained gas and put in new gas and now it won't start at all. Someone suggested it might have an airlock keeping gas from getting into the carb. Question: what is the best/easiest method of correcting this. Thanks in advance Jerry

I recently was given a 1981 xs400 to me from my father in-law. It ran fine for a couple of days (only went around my farm) and then started blowing white smoke and smells like its burning oil. I decided to drain the oil and I noticed the oil smells like gasoline and is it was gritty. So I think the rings are shot everything else seems good. Does anyone know what amount of torque I should use when I reassemble the engine. I don't want to over torque the bolts and strip them, or have them to loose where it will loose compression. Any help would be appreciated.

The oil warning light on my dragstar has came on. I have checked the oil and its ok. Could it be a faulty sensor? If so where is the sensor located and is it something I could rectify myself?

Would anyone here know what, if any, modern shocks might fit a 1988 FZ600? Or perhaps what the rate, in lb/in for the rear shock spring is? Thanks, Ken

Is there any one out there that can help me please. I've fitted an '05 R1 in a single seater racing car and have used a US spec wiring loom on it because it is different and simpler than the UK spec version. I had it running for 2 events then I tried to tidy up the loom and obviously trimmed something I shouldn't have.......... doh...... I then sent for a CD for the US R1 to follow the diagrams but they are in black and white so I cant follow them very easily. The UK diagrams are in colour......... Any body got pages 400 and 406 of the manual in colour I could use? Is it colour in the actual hard copy book version, so I could order one of those? Any info gratefully recei…

Hey folks I'm new to Yamaha's. I've been looking for a solid sport/touring bike and found an 86 FJ1200 locally with just under 21k miles. It has been ragged on a bit from the looks of it, but doesn't appear to have been dropped. I understand that 2nd gear can be chancy on these bikes, as well as the clutch master cylinder seal. Is there anything else I should really look out for before purchasing this bike? Bascially any info to help me make an informed decision would be great, I don't want to buy this thing and have to split the case 50 miles down the road. Thanks

Hi, I've got an XJR1300 SP. Recently started to get oil running from one of the overflow pipes. Traced the pipe up to the air box. I cant think why so much oil is gathering there. The Haynes manual gives no clues. Anyone got any info on where the oil is coming from and what I need to do to remedy the fault?
