Hi guys, I am wondering whether you have any practical experience with error code 39. I keep getting this occasionally... The error comes up while the bike is in motion and everything cuts out when the engine warning light starts blinking. The electrics stop working and the only thing you can do is pull over somewhere fairly safe as quickly as you can. I am able to restart the bike after about 5 minutes and it runs fine. I looked up the error code and it comes up as fuel pump/injector. I took the bike to several repair shops, it's also been looked at by Yamaha and they say that nothing's wrong with it. The last time I had it checked (by Yamaha) they told me that oโ€ฆ

Hi folks, A friend of mine's got a YZF 750 that he's running in Classic Superbike racing. Lately it's been acting up: starts & idles fine but refuses to take full throttle, popping & banging on the overrun, rev counter needle jumping about. At a recent meeting the problem was particularly bad, forcing a retirement. Back in the pits the plugs were changed, EXUP valve disconnected & wired open, problem still persisted. A faulty ignition pickup,s been suggested, any ideas?

Hi i have an yamaha sr 125, the problem i have is that it doesn't like to go into second from first if i hold the gear lever up you can hear the gears tapping off each other and if i change back into first it is very very clunky unless im going at walking pace, i have recently changed the clutch and noticed cracking to the engine case inside only small spider web like fractures. I did a bit of internet searching and read that it could be down to a bent shifter fork but replacing it would mean splitting the block, i could do this myself but im not sure what i need to buy ie gaskets camshaft bearings, the other option i have is to buy a new engine for it.. second hand thougโ€ฆ

I have just bought a 2008 model, it has a couple of issues but I bought it as a fixer upper. Firstly the speedo doesn't work at all, the guy I bought it off said it works when it feels like it, are there any fixes out there I can try? I've done a lot of googling and many people found issues resolved with the sensors as mine isn't even turning on I don't think that's my problem. The other issue it came with, the bike wouldn't tick over, I suspected care issues, today I had a fettle, adjusted the idle screw and throttle cable and managed to get it ticking over however it's temperamental as sometimes it will cut out, other times it revs high when idling, I'm learning this โ€ฆ

Hi Everyone, The radiator fan on my 2011 XJ6 blew a fuse on the way into work the other morning, I swapped out the fuse and now the fan when it does kick in goes very slow and isn't enough to cool the engine. I have looked on ebay for a replacement fan and can't seem to find any. Does anyone know if there is an equivalent that is easier to source. Cheers, Steven

Hi all, I've been having a little difficulty with my XV125 stumbling off of idle, after a lot of time, money and effort I believe it to be fuel related. Getting there little by little with adjustments here and there but I have come across a brass like screw very similar to the Pilot air screw and it's also very close to it, and I'm wondering if anyone here knows what it does? Please see the attached photos: I appreciate any light anyone can shine on this. Many thanks, Terry

  10. Hi all, I have learnt a few things from stripping this bike down and rebuilding it. Do any of these points strike a cord? 1. try and get the bike started before stripping it down. 2. Do not order any replacement parts before stripping it down (not including any needed to get it running in the first place). 3. Clean and inspect every part before sending just the frame head stock and swing arm to be stripped (lots of other bits could use the same treatment). 4. Order as many replacement parts at the same time as possible, this cuts down on postage and waiting time. 5. If ordering parts from outside the EU check postage costs and import duty first (it gets expensโ€ฆ

Hi all im new to the forum, i have done quite alot of searching online and haven't found what im looking for so hear am I. Ok I have looked around and seen people saying they get 80+ out of the bike I understand 4 strokes are not restricted physically, but are they restricted electronically ? The reason I ask is I was travelling down hill tucked in, my speedo went to 75 then back to 74 and wouldn't budge as i was still going down hill and wasn't on rev limiter ? My other question is it would be nice to get a bit more acceleration out of the bike for overtaking purposes. Could I change either sprocket to gain acceleration ? I know if you gain acceleration you lose top spโ€ฆ

I'm trying to get an old mx running for my 12yr old to use. Picked it up as a non runner. Was told it was running then it sat for ages. I've got it running but it's cutting out after 5 secs or so. Things I've done: -Clean carby. Main jets ok pilot jet was a mess. -Replace spark plug, ignition coil- spark is now good -Bypassed autolube to run on premix from tank -Repaired some burnt wiring from stator to CDI. Wiring had cooked sitting next to exhaust -Checked petcock- good flow -Replaced air filter The only current thought that is the exhaust needs decarbonising. Otherwise I'm short on ideas. Any other tips would be appreciated. Posted a video on youtube: httโ€ฆ

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided not to push on with the rebuild of my XJ750. (American Import) I simply don't have the time to get on to it. It is half stripped and pretty much all there but the rust has taken its toll on the obvious parts. If any one wants it please let me know, collection only (Chester), or it is going to bike heaven. Once I have caught up with everything else and my grand daughter is easier on me I will have another bike. Till then, its how it was when my own kids arrived.

Hello peeps Talk me out of doing this if it's overkill. I'm thinking of doing a complete engine overhaul on my 2001 Dragstar 125 and add new crankshaft, cylinders, pistons and cylinder heads used by the XV250. Engines are similar from what I understand.... Move/Kill the thread if stupid. Regards

have to say she's running much much better. 55 - 60 mph quite consistantly not so bad on hills. seems to be doing this 'crackiling to life' when accelerating like she has more in her. might see if there is still some sort of air leaking. But other than that she is purrring right along.

Hello all, first post here. I'm new to biking and have just bought a TW125. I was out on it last night. In a couple of areas, on the flat and in second gear, the bike felt quite gutless - it didn't want to accelerate. Later on the ride I took it up a relatively steep hill where I began losing revs. After dropping in to second, the revs continued to drop to the point where I was going very slow indeed - it felt like the bike wanted to give up. I had to pull in, and pull away again in first to get the revs back up. It was bloody windy mind, and i think it was a headwind. I took another hill home, this time got up to 2nd gear in high revs and managed to keep it that โ€ฆ

I am trying to correct a few issues with the Thundercat I recently purchased. It has an aftermarket Koso Tacho on and I am wanting to add a water temp gauge, the wire comes out the thermo unit and is just unplugged. I have read that Koso units require their own valve and sensor connected to the hose..... Is this only for bikes/cars with out sensors? Could I connect it to my existing thermistor or would it read different resistance? Is there any units that I could just plug into my existing thermistor if Koso isnt compatible? Many Thanks
