my fzr400rr 3tj just wont start. the starter motor turns but their is no spark. i can bump it 'just' and it will start on the motor when warm. also when reving, it somtimes limits at 4000rpm for about a minute and cuts out when i pull the clutch in, (rarely). ive cleaned all connections, carbs and spark plugs with no change, could this be a faulty CDI unit or is it a different problem. if CDI, where is this on the bike. cheers

i have an 07 R6. when i turn the bike on, the screen displays "18". does anyone know what that means? im assuming it has something to do with my signalling system considering my turning signals, brake light, and horn wont work. i checked the connections to the turning signals (b/c thats the only thing ive modified and everything works when i replace the fuse except for the right turning signals) but the fuse still blows. can you help?! its about to be perfect temp to ride! IM DESPERATE AND CHEAP! thanks.

I just bought a 1995 yzf 600 and the bike would not idle it would just shut off but if you get it into the higher rpms it runs pretty smooth. I can puill on the choke and it will stay on. I took it apart and saw that the rubber boots under the carbs were dry rotted and put new ones on and put it back together and stated it up again and now when i pull the choke it will only idle at 1000 rpm but when i first got it and pulled the choke it would idle at 2500 to 3000 rpm like it should i stilll think it is getting to much air but i dont know where i think i put on the rubber boots right i was thinking maybe i didnt and maybe the o ring isnt sitting tight and it is leaking t…

Hi there my 426 just died while riding in the bush yesterday. i rolled it down the hill and it started but wouldnt idle, when you pulled the clutch in, it would stop running. you couldnt kick start it and there was no sign of firing when you did kick start it. could it be CDI? Stator? (my LED lighting kit eg tailight lights up when trying to start.) Coil? (actually you couldnt see a spark, and you could kick start it and hold the plug and you would get zapped) Can you use say a WR CDI on this bike to see if it works? Sounds like CDI to me, but any info from people would be great thanks Ash

Old saying dont fix if not f***** messing around improving the wires on the points, now since the repairs and fitting back in cannot get the bike to run proply and keeps missfiring. somtimes fires on both, hey presto the bike runs sweet on both pots. Then just as quick it will go back down to one pot... Is it bad earth? Knackered points? They look ok. ive never really had anything to do with points, last time was a mini 20 year ago and that was agg. Been told to convert to electronic. Has anyone got electronic 4 sale. Or new set of points cure my headache...

Can anyone help, i have bought a fzr 600 as a non runner. The guy i bought it from said there was a problem with the kick stand switch, and thats why it had no spark. When i got it home i could see that the previous owner had lost the old kickstand, he had put another stand on but it was from a totally different bike. In the process of trying to get it to fit he had done some welding to the frame. I have since replaced the kickstand and the switch but i still get no spark? I have tried a different cdi with no joy. I have checked all the switches(clutch, ignition,neutral) and the fueses. It has a new battery. I have tried a different reg/rec. There is power going…

Help. Advice needed. 99 R1, complete with high level D&D race pipe bought it in the past month, used everyday since to commute. my bike is running rich, the tacho diagnostic device is telling me i have a throttle position sensor problem. has anyone any ideas how to tackle this as i have no equipment to deal with this my self. Will it cause further problems if I continue to ride the bike?

im trying to get the kill switch to work on my sons PW50,the Start and run options work great but it will not kill the motor when switched to stop.I've cleaned the connectors inside the switch and still nothing.Could this be a Stator problem? other then this problem the bike works great. Thanks

just had the mrs,s R6 in the dealers because i noticed a high pitched whining noise coming from the ecu they said its perfectly normal but im not so sure. if you turn the ignition on,dont start the engine, then wait for the fuel pump to stop whizzing and wirring then put your head down near the seat you can hear it.they reckon to have tried one they had in the shop and it did the same but ive never heard it before and shes had the bike 2 years.Anybody else heard this?

A bit of a saga so bear with me and if you've any ideas they'd be much appreciated. Bike was running like a dog so changed plugs (which looked lovely and tan colour) for some unused ones that I'd had for a couple of years but never got used. Bike continued to run like a dog. Bought new air filter, old one looked a bit mucky. Still ran like a dog. Charged battery but charger implied not taking full charge. Replaced battery. Charger said same thing Grrr. Still ran like a dog. Looked at the sparks and particularly on outer two cylinders looked a bit orange. Measured coil primaries and one just in one just out of range so bought replacement coils and integral leads …

Just installed Yamaha Passing lamps on my V Star 650. Followed directions to the T. When I turn on the key I get a weird humming (It's different than the fuel pump) that goes away after a few seconds. Bike seems fine, everything works. Any Suggestions?

Hi all, this is my first time on the forum. I have a XVS650 Dragstar/V-Star Custom and I wan tto rake out the front and extend the forks. I keep reading about these Choppper Kits like AME but they are way too expensive in the UK, somehow the international exchange rate fails to work. My question is, does anyone know where I can find such a kit for around £1000? Any advice would be great. Thnaks all. AustenM

Hi all, Can someone please help. I have just got a 1990 FZR600 3He which comes with a 3.5 inch rear wheel. Because the options of tyres are pretty limited, I want to put a 4.0 inch rear wheel in (can then go up to a 150 section rear) but am having real problems finding one. Has anyone done this mod to the bike as I think they are interchangeable so won't need any mods to fit. I think i have found a rim at a breakers , but the guy needs to know the model for a 91/92 bike. Can anyone confirm that the model is a 3RG or a 3RH please. Thanks.

hi all just spent some hard earned money on a 1990 xtz 750 and all seemed well initially (great fun bike ) starts fine but after 10 mins or so of riding perfectly on the 3 occasions i have riddden it , closed throttle going into corner and serious misfire has started and continued all the way home . bike ticks over ok but blipping throttle on and off eventually just coughs and dies . any advice will be greatly appreciated filters are new , have plugs to fit tomorrow. regards martin

Dude, I have been trying to start my motorcycle all freakin morning. I don't know what I'm doing wrong? I'm pulling the choke, twisting the petcock, squeezing the clutch, giving it throttle, but when I turn the ignition key I'm not getting any lights on my dash. Is it the battery? The only thing I haven't done is kickstart. Help! I bought this used from a guy two months ago and had it shipped to Los Angeles where I just arrived to be with the bike. So I've only had it in my actual possession for a day. My buddy who checked it out for me took a ride and said it started easy. WHat am I doing wrong? I should also add that I've never been on a bike before today…

hi folks, first post. I've picked up an rxs100 to sharpen up my road awareness before having another crack at the DAS (as my last attempt was failed for that), unfortunately i came out from work last week to find most of the oil for the transmission all over the pavement. Anyone have any advice on what may have happened, investigating it and how i can fix it. I will be honest and admit i made the dozey mistake of running it for about a week without any oil in there, but it was running fine once i put this in, and had just passed its MOT. Any suggestions or advice on fixing this myself would be really appreciated.

hi i have a sr125 on a 94 it started to die and then back fire on me not all the time just now and again some times there is a spark and then there isent i have cleaned every thing i have looked on other sites and some people have had similar problems and said it to be the cdi unit can any one help befor i buy one
