  1. IV GOT THE 1999 4XV R1 THAT HAD DEVELOPED WHAT I THINK IS A GEARBOX BEARING PROBLEM. THE NOISE GETS LOUDER THE FASTER YOU GO AND THE MORE THROTTLE YOU GIVE IT. THIS SEEMS TO DISAPEAR ON OVERRUN WITH THE THROTTLE BACKED OFF. COULD THIS BE THE OUTPUT SHAFT BEARING. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

hello all,new to this so please bear with me,i have just bought a dt125r back from a motorcycle repair shop who could not solve my problem, which is that when i turn the ignition switch to the on position i loose the spark but when i turn it to the off position the spark returns but not that strong. i have had the ignition barrel checked and that is fine, could it be the regulator/rectifier,my partners son said that it was fine one moment but just died on him as he was going along.

BUT i still cant stop her overheating, i can get a 45minute ride, with the temp slowly creeping up untill shes at RED and coolant is leaking onto the swing arm from the expansion box... then i just gotta cool her down, also, she leaks about 300ml onto the floor over night, nd i gotta top her back up before i take her out again... Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!!! Arrrggg..... Hicks....

I have just ordered new wheel bearings for my Thunderace spare wheels. The ones that arrived are 20x42x12mm, the ones in the wheels are 44mm, measured with my Vernier calipers. Have M and P cocked up or did Yamaha change the spec? The wheels appear to be the same size as my other set. Can anyone advise? Many thanks. Tim.

Hi all, Just purchased a 96 YZF750R and noticed it uses a bit of oil. At the rate of about half a litre per 600 miles. I understand the 5 valve genesis engines are known for this but at what rate of consumption is normal and what is excesive? The bike is under shop warranty so can go in if you guys think there is a problem. The bike has done 24000 miles and runs and rides well except for being stuborn to go into neutral at a standstill. She emits a small puff of smoke on start up but clears within 2 secs ( as if engine oil has found its way into the cylinders while parked up for a few days. Any ideas?

Hello, Apologies for my first post being a question - I'm getting desperate. My second bike is a Yamaha XVS 125 Dragstar 2001. I rode it to work daily (3 miles, 15mins, average 40miles/hour). One day, I switched ignition on, panel lit up... hit the electric start and the bike started clicking. Figuring it was the battery, and previously using the bike for 6months I put it on charge over night until my charger read "fine". Next day I had jumped it... rode a mile down the rode and bought a battery (pour in acid and seal for life) and connected up & rode home fine. Then two days later, the same problem. The engine would try to turn over and then star…

Riding along, and decide to use a little engine brake I hear a rattle (tone similar to keys jangling or plastics tapping). It sounds external but Im not quite sure... I will have to go to the airfield next week so I can ride without a helmet to get a proper listen. She runs fine, starts first time, handles fine. Any ideas? Thunderace YZF1000R 1997 (Ive read the other thread)

Hi I have owned my XVS125 Dragstar for 1 month and I have my first problem, can you help? Today as I got home I noticed my horn wasn't working right, it just squeeked. Then after I stoped the bike I could't start it again. The large relay with the 30A fuses which I believe is the starter solenoid was clatering away when I pushed the starter button and the engine was not being turmed over. Is this just a flat battery or something more sinister? Its the solenoid clattering that I didn't expect. Thank you

Hi, I live in the UK, my bike (a 98 xj600 divvy) is in requirement of new tyres and I'm a little stuck as to what tyres to get fitted to the bike. I do a serious amount of miles as the bike is my only transport, these miles are done in all weather conditions and I am wanting to make sure that I have optimum grip no matter what the weather throws at me. My previous tyres were dunlops (not sure what model), these were replaced by my local repair shop with some really nasty HEIDENAU tyres which to be honest provide about as much grip as you'd expect from a highly waxed sledge (very little). A friend recommended Pirelli Demons, I'm a tad concerned that I simply won't g…
