Had continuing problems with tick-over and hick-up acceleration WITH a tackometer fault showing 3000rpm. Looked this up to be the Throttle positioning censor. Had the bike serviced, carbs cleaned & balanced and a brand new throttle postioning censor fitted (bloody expensive)..... and nothing! slightly improved running but still the 3000rpm fault, wont tick-over and acceleration hick-ups. any ideas greatly appreciated.. many thanks

I have a couple of questions 1. What is the best oil for the bike? I was told I need 2 stroke injector oil but is that different than the motor oil? Sounds like a dumb question but I really dont know. 2. Do I need different oil for the auto lube? 3. Do the headlights and tail lights only work after the bike is warm and the battery has charged some? 4. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement air filter? Ya thats it any help is most appreciated. Scott

Hi Just a post hoping that one of you guys (or girls) can give me any tips - I have to dismantle my friends 600 Divvy to replace a bearing - I think it is the driveshaft bearing - but he is going to check with the garage that did the service) - Are there any tips or useful pieces of advice on doing the job? The Haynes manual is a bit rubbish - not one decent 'explosion' diagram on the engine! Wish me luck.......

On my 1997 XJ600, I have this annoying clatter, reminiscent of tappet noise when the engine has been running for about 15 minutes or so, but on checking the valve clearances found all exhaust clearances in spec, three of the inlet clearances were too small and one was in spec. I can understand too large a clearance causing clatter, but not a too small clearance, so am confused as to what could be causing the noise. I know that the valve lifters run directly in the alloy head and therefore could cause wear in the head because of the lateral force applied by the cams, but would that wear cause that sort of noise and on an engine that claims to have only done about 25000 m…

I'm on the verge of buying an 07 R1 which was stolen, but now recovered, and the insurance company has paid out , the bilke has some cosmetic damage but nothing major and there are a few parts missing, but my main concern is the locks have been smashed and only broken bits remain, as well as the top yokes missing, but the general condition of the bike is very good and clean, with 1800 miles showing, i'm thinking the lock set with the chip in the key are going to be my main problem, can anyone give me a replacement cost or what path to follow in repairing it, any ideas on what sort of price would be good to pay the insurer, its been a few years since my last rebuild , bu…

Hi guys! First time Iv posted here, its a wicked site! Anyway got a problem wandering if any of you could please help me.,... my fzr600 89' has a slipping clutch. Now I changed the clutch plates about a thousand or so miles ago so its pretty annoying! Iv checked the clutch pin adjuster thingy and that is at a good setting. Another symptom is (usually more so when in hot weather) when engine gets hot and I hold the clutch in for more than a few seconds, the free play in the lever increases loads and when the lever is fully pulled in the clutch does not disengage fully. It was so bad the other day I had to turn the engine off to put it into neutral! Before …

Does anyone have any knowledge of what this is likely to be? All other instruments and instrument lights are working fine but the speedo and odometer (mileage recorder) are not moving at all. Possibly this is co-incidental with having the front disc replaced recently and therefore perhaps the device on the front wheel that sends electrical information to the speedo was disturbed and now is not working? With electrical problems you cannot see what is wrong unless you are a whizz with diagnostic equipment! So any previous experience of the same problem will be gratefully received. Thanks. TM

Hi.... Just fitted a datatool 21 to my 2005 R1 myself. It seems to work ok but I am a bit puzzled as to what the purpose of the black wire with the male bullet connector is. Also there is a black wire in the datatool loom that has green and yellow coloured tags on it. What does this do?? Help!!

I bought a new FZ6 S2 Fazer in June of 2007 and have put a lot of motorway km on the bike in one year. I recently had the bike serviced at 20000 km at the beginning of April and upon return to me it has developed a ticking sound from the left hand side of the engine. When I collected the bike from the dealers after service I noticed the noise immediatly but thought it would settle down. I have let the bike sit for two weeks and when I started it again the noise is worse. I returned to the dealers and he says is just a noisy cam, nothing to worry about. I am British but I have bought and use the bike in Holland and language can be a problem when making conversation w…

I had my dt 125 stolen and the thieving scroats smashed my lights, clocks and ignition off. After much searching I have found some new clocks but there is no reed switch. They cut the old one off. Do I need one or can I just twist together the red / blue and the white/black wires together? Should this be an open or closed circuit and is there some resistance in the switch? cheers Sico
