Hi, I've had my YBR125 for about a year and have ridden it all through this winter, and overall am well pleased with how well it's stood up to the winter abuse. However, today I tried to take off the left side panel to get into the tools to tighten my chain. Unfortunately I can't get the key to turn - darn flexible thing it is. Anyway, two questions: (1) how far in does the key go? I seem to remember it is not really a key lock as much as a turning clip, but can't remember and am afraid of knackering the lock or the key. (2) has anyone got any tips for freeing it if it's just really stiff? Would a screwdriver do? Would it knacker the lock? Thanks in advance f…

Just like 2stroker over in the dual-sport forums, I bought a '73 Enduro 175 dual sport bike, and am having difficulty with it. I was riding it home from buying it, and it ran great, really fun ride, until about 20 miles in. I didn't redline it but I was staying steady in the high RPMs, doing 55-60 MPH, staying around 6k RPMs (if I was reading it right) but well below the 7.5k redline. Anyway, it ran a little rough at that high RPMs but it seemed to be doing okay for 20 miles or so then it got a bit rougher, and I grabbed the clutch and it died. Since then I have been unable to get it to start. I've been reading around a bit, and looking at 2stroker's post it sounds…

Hi all, can anybody help iv got a dtr 125 2000 year, when i set off it it seems very sluggish as though its going to cut out, but as soon as it gets moving the power seems to come back. Also if i keep the revs high it seems to keep its power. somebody told me it could be my power valve sticking but im not sure what that is or where to find it. Cheers

I just got a 2000 XT350 it seems to be backfiring through the carb. It starts good but when it gets warmed up it misses and backfires through the carb. I changed the spark plug and looked for air leaks. Changed the secondary carb inlet which the rubber had separated from the mount. The air filter is clean I even left the cover off while l ran it but no difference. I checked the gas flow from the petcock and it's full stream. I'm stumped! Also do these bikes always run so hot?

I have a '99 Yamaha YZF Thundercat and use it to comute to work. This evening when I got home, I noticed that there was a small amount of green lube leaking from the rear of three overflow tubes on the off side of the bike - sorry to be vague but i have not had the bike long! It was only two or three drops and has now stopped. I have not noticed this before and it concerns me a little - I cannot find what these over flow tubes relate to in the manual. Is this normal or should i get it looked at?? I travel around 16 miles from work which is quite a quick ride. Thanks in advance!!!

I just bought an '82 XS400J (Maxim) this week. It ran pretty well in the around the block test ride I took, but it was a little short in power. Of course there was nothing but flat ground in that neighborhood. After getting it home I took it around the block, which includes a good sized hill, and I noticed a huge loss of power. A little longer ride on a hilly road and it seems to do pretty well in the flat spots, but when I hit a hill I slow down to about 25 mph, even with wide open throttle (in 2nd gear). The tach is reading around 4000 rpm. As soon as I hit flat ground again the revs go back up, as does the speed. I plan to do an oil change and probably take the c…

Hi everyone, Let me first say I am new to this forum but thank you to those who started this site! I just bought a 82 yamaha maxim 400, it was not running when I got it yesterday but after a little work I have it running, a few issues have come up. First of all my left cyclender has been spewing out quite a bit of white smoke and is backfiring quite a bit but it is an intermittent problem, sometimes it will run fine for a good while before that happens. Also it will randomly run at high RPM's and stay there and then calm down again all on its own. Anyone have a problem like this before??? Thanks all!

Hi. I'm new to this forum so I hope this is in the right section. I have an Exciter SR250 engine that I'm using as a motor for a buggy I'm building. I was told that the year was an 82. The model number on the bike was 5V1 (which means 82??). The number on the ignition computer says 5V0. All the wiring diagrams that I have found for the iginition computer show 5 wires, but mine has six wires. The extra wire is black with a white strip and is connect to something that looks like a relay. Does anybody have a wiring diagram that shows this extra wire? Doesn't anybody know what it does??? Can anyone confirm that my motor is from an 82?? Thanks!! David

Hey all, ive sifted through this forum after all the jetting posts made, and none of them realy help... I need to find out where we can order DT125 jets from, seen as no-one seems to know of a solid dealer, appart from e-bay, and there arnt any at the moment... Most DT125ers need to go up to a jet size of 240, this is offcourse if you have a new pipe add on, and most of the de-restrictions done, you may possibly need the 260 but i have picked up that this is too much unless youve gone for the new reed valves which let in that little bit more air.... The DT's run a Mikuni TM28-32 carb and i cant find for the life of me any website which sells jets for this particular…

Hi Guys, Just joined the forum and looks quite well informed. So with that in mind does anyone know if the wheels from a 3en2 will fit, or are the same as the ones on a 3TJ? Thanks for your help

Hi, I've posted an add in the wanted section for some TCAT yokes to help get my TCAT forks and front wheel properly fitted to my FZR project. What would really help, would be if anyone would be prepared to measure their Yokes, Fork Centre to Centre, just so I know I'm doing the right thing. My FZR yokes space the fork centers about 19.5cm apart. I'm guessing the TCAT should be slightly wider. Currently, I've tried fitting the forks and front wheel to my FZR yokes and the front wheel disc bolt heads rub badly on the inside of the fork legs, so I figure I need the TCAT yokes.

Hi all, I am new on here as earlier this year I bought a little YB100 to get my bike licence on(mid 30's and very used to riding in Africa, just dont have a licence here). It is a good little bike, came with a year's mot and a brand new rear tyre however I have had a number of problems with the carb and i am hoping for some ideas from those in the know. My first problem was that is ran lean and couldnt get it past 35mph. It has been in a garage for a number of years so I took the carb out and cleaned it very thoroughly and put a fuel filter inline, that improved things slightly. I took it to the local bike shop on my way home and they were fantastic, moved the needle up a…

gentlemen, my Bulldog has developed a sound like banging 2 thick metal knitting needles against each other. it used to be around below 1500 rpm when warm, now it's audible pretty much through the whole rpm range. no changes in drivability. it sounds like it's coming from the cylinders. what are your experiences? it's the same engine as in 1100 DragStar. thanks in advance.

I have a 1981 Seca (XJ750RH) which is in need of new exhaust system. I've met Seca owners who replaced the OEM 4 into 2 systems with MAC's 4 into 1 on their Secas and were quite happy. What I didn't think to ask them was whether or not they had to change the size of the carb jets and or adjust/balance the carbs. If anyone has had any experience with this replacement/modification I'd appreciate hearing what you have to say. ie, Did you have to re-jet? Did you like the performance? How did it sound afterwards compared to the 4 into 2 etc? Thanks in advance for any input. John
