Just a quick question in relation to which oil is best for an R125. It is 4 stroke and just wondered what product people recommend. I think Yamaha recommend something called 'Yamalube' Thanks in advance...

Hi Folks, I have just picked up a 1989 fzr 1000 exup . the exup valve is siezed and irepairable .I have been told you can just remove the valve and run the bike without it. Does anyone know whether anything else needs to be done to the bike to do this ?( Other than making a plate to cover the hole where the valve was) Thanks Dell

Hi, (Posted on Streetbikes/Sportsbikes forum too by accident!) I'm removing the pillion passenger fittings (rear seat and footpegs) from my wife Nik's 2006 R6. Have had no problems with the rear set and replaced it with the tail cover and have removed the footpegs fine. However although the blanking plate fittings I have to cover the holes fit fine, the supporting brackets on them don't seem to line up with any bolt/screw fittings on the inside of the tail/under the main seat. Any advice on fixing these ? Am I missing something in the fittings pack ? Cheers, Jas

I've recently purchased a 1981 DT100. It's in very good nic and runs after being stored and not started for 10 years. I am stripping the bike down completely but the crankcase bolts (fitted with the cross head phillips type) are completely rusted on the head and although successfuly removed they are unusable. Can I get a replacement set from anywhere and do they have to be the cross head type? Can I use a hex bolt? any advise would br great. Also the bolts holding the exhaust to the outlet on the cylinder head are knackered. How easy is it to replace these? Thanks Chris.

Hey guys, I bought an R1 2000 model 2 weeks ago and its been running really well until I let the bike sit for 2 days. The day i bought the bike it was running and starting well, I've ridden it to work every day and every cold morning its started fine, it cranks a little slower than the old CBR250R out the back lol. But i went up the coast on friday and got back Sundau morning to find that when I tryed to start the bike, it could barely turn over . My first thought was ah god a new battery. Got my mate to pickup a new battery, fitted it with the auto electricans that work next to us, not that i know nothing about it but i dont have my home work shop at my IT center. W…

I've been struggling to clean and rebuild the carbs from my 79 XS400SG and aren't too impressed with the Haynes Manual. Does anyone know if there's a good manual for these carburetors out there? I found something at Lambretta Works's website http://www.lambretta.net/shop/shopexd.asp?id=3996 but it doesn't include those models. I'm new to carburetors and am eager to learn about how these things work and exactly how to work on them.

First up, what a great site!! Now here we go (takes a breath).... I have a 1995 YZF750R with K&N,Dyno'd and fitted with front R1 Calipers. Engine had a full rebuild, well cleaned...I was bored and stripped down full engine, clean every part and put back together. I have owned the bike for a few months but what I have noticed is that. It uses a lot of oil is this normal, as I stay in Glasgow and went to Blackpool for the weekend, oil was ok when I left home on the way back the red light came on needing oil..I made it to the last services on the M6 for a top up. Had to put in the Castrol 4T Pro to get it started, synthetic crap ( I use the Valvoline 4T 10w-…

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all well. Now this may seem like a silly question, but it's something i've never had to deal with before. Can you vary the size of your tyres from the manufacturers recomended? i.e. I have a skinny rear tyre on an xj600 and want a fat one Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers JK

I have just received a 1981 maxim from a buddy and I'm fixin it up. One of the problems that I've gotten to is that the throttle control (on the handle bar) is broken. The plasic on the inside of the grip shattered, making it impossible to have any control over the throttle. Im just hoping that I wont have to replace the whole thing because of this! Any quick fixes? Thanks for your time!

Hey guys, I'm back with a new question... After trying to sell this bike and having it not start after 2 million kicks, I decided to remove the carburetor and clean it out. I didn't do anything special, just got rid of any gunk and polished it up. I put it back on the bike and made sure everything was tightened up. I then gave it one good kick and HOLY MACKEREL!!!! It turned on but that little sucker was at RPM 4000 and LOUD! Not like an obnoxious loud, but a totally powerful loud. I don't know anything about bikes and I pretty much used common sense to do this project. (I'm sort of proud of me), but I know that there is too much power here. …

just got a 78 xs400. Mine doesn't appear to have a negative cable for the negative battery post? Shouldn't there be a ground to the frame? anyone got a loom diagram? Or follow there negative side and see where it goes?
