Hi, Both my tyres lose about 6lb pressure per week (from 26/28 front/rear respectively to about 21/22 lp per square inch). I can't remember whethere this is normal - maybe I just pay more attention to these things now I'm older. Anyway, tyres themselves seem fine and quite new. Any advice? cheers

Hey all, My name is Ken and I'm new to the club. I've owned a 1981 SR250 Exciter for a couple years now and I love it. The time has come to start making repairs and I'm glad you guys are here. I replaced the stator on it because the battery died on me last season while driving and it wasnt getting any charge. Now, I am getting 14 volts when running so she is charginge, but when I disconnect the negative cable, she dies. I know in a car if you do that and it dies then the alternator is bad... what about on the SR250? Should she die when I disconnect the battery? and if not, what would be some of the causes even though the charging system seems to be working corre…

Ok, I'm working on rebuilding the carbs from my 79 XS400SG, and had to buy a spare set for parts. I'm cleaning both of them thoroughly and will choose the best parts from each to rebuild a "new" pair. Problem is that I've discovered that one carb seems to have a post plugged by the factory while it's duplicate has a jet screwed into that same place. Question: Why is one plugged like this? And is it ok to use this plugged one in place of the one that came off the bike that had a jet screwed in there? (Unfortunately, I can't use the one that came off the bike because part of the housing is broken.) This carb came off the bike: There is normally a jet scr…

I have a 2001 yzf 600r that I purchased new. The bike has about 27.000 miles on it. It bucks and surges real bad about 3500 rpm, but free revs just fine. It has a k&n air filter on it, and a scorpion exhaust pipe. I recently rejetted it with a dynojet kit, b/c the shop that worked on it drilled the jets instead of putting the kit they sold me in it. Still the problem exists. I have cleaned the carbs at least 3 times. The ignition coils test fine. I even tried a spare cdi box and have the same problem. I did take the bike down to be repainted but it was doing this before it was taken apart. I also replaced the notorious 2nd gear about a year ago. The tach also jum…

Hey all, I just bought a 1995 XJ600 Diversion for my first big bike. It needs a few things doing to it, so can you tell me where is the best (most reasonably priced) place to by parts from. I want to return this bike to its original glory so I am looking for a brand new silencer to begin with, but will need other parts too, in particular a 33BHP restrictor kit if you have one to get rid of? Also any other advice for this bike would be gratefully received. Regards Gregg

Hi everyone I have just bought my first bike and wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I have an 1986 Radian YX600S-R. This bike has sat since last spring with out any kind of winter storage, the bike seems to run rough on the gas it has so I drained the gas out of the system and put in a high octane fuel but it seems that cylinders 3 and 4 are not firing at proper temp... the pipes on that side are getting hot but not as hot as the other two. I have proper spark from the wires and replaced the plugs. Any ideas or suggestions, new guy looking for any kind of help. Thanks

This is probably going to be mission impossible but I am exhausting all my other leads and thought I would see if any one could help. I am in the process of restoring a 1991 Yamaha DT50 MX (harder than it might seem now that parts are getting rare and it runs off a 6v system for its electrics). I recently purchased a Dakar or Tenere Kit for the bike which changes the look to one of an enduro style. The kit was originally manufactured somewhere in Europe and shipped to the UK in 1992. The dealer I bought it from had found it, still in its box, at the back of there stock room where it had been for 16 years. Not many were produced and even less were sold so I am rea…

Engine dies when put into gear. Looking at the wiring diagram there is a clutch switch, side stand switch and a relay. The bike has been sitting for about a year, could the clutch be stuck? It ran fine before that. I've adjusted the clutch cable. I've made sure the side stand switch is closed, next I will try starting the bike in gear with the clutch in - if that doesn't work. Does that indicate a problem with the clutch switch? Any info would be much appreciated.

I'm replacing the stator on my 1996 Seca II. I have a few questions: 1. Is there a difference between the three wires on the new stator in terms of how they connect into the block? 2. Is there a gasket underneath the generator cover? (The parts catalog doesn't show a gasket, and, if I need to replace it, I need to try to find a part number). Thanks for any help that you can offer.

Hi All, New to biking after waiting twenty years to take the plunge ;-) I have bought a thundercat which i have been riding now for two months and absolutely Bl00dy love it. had it upto 150mph on a private stretch of M-way somewhere in Europe ;-) I have noticed that the gearbox sounds very whiny almost like a straight cut rally gearbox !! It seems to be worse when i am plodding along at low revs. But last night i did my first long trip of just over 300 miles, first problem was on the M-way, I tapped the gearlever down to what should have been 5th and then throttled back, but it was if i had put the bike in neutral, i had to have two attempts before it went into gear…
