I just found this forum when the post below popped up on google. I'm having a similar problem, and thought you may be able to help! http://www.yamahaclub.com/forums/index.php...9&hl=szr660 I bought an SZR660 with 5k miles on the clock 6 months ago which had been standing for a while. The previous owner had replaced the battery and got it running. The bike came with a k&n air filter and renegade straight through exhaust. When I first got it there was a massive flat spot in the midrange which the bike would struggle to pull through on full throttle, and the fueling felt out everywhere. If the throttle was opened quickly the bike would bog down like hi…

I'm almost ready to get my bike back onto the road, finishing up some work on the bike. I've got a few questions to placate my mechanically inept brain. 1. I replaced the clutch cable with a new one since the old one gave up the ghost, I think I may have overtightened the clutch. I was thinking about taking out the clutch rod that goes from the cable assembly over to the clutch. My question is this, the book says that I can just take out the rod (it's a one piece rod right?) and make sure it's straight. It also says that I should check to make sure the ball is in the right place so I can use a rod with a magnet on the end of it to take out the ball. Does this all…

Hi all. I've just joined the forum after buying a 99 Fazer 600. The bike only has 3500 miles on but hasn't been serviced for some time and has been standing. Even with new fuel and after being used it seems to stutter at around 6000 rpm. Does anyone know if the bike has a fuel filter on it and how easy it is to change? Thanks for any help.

After a painful splitting of the engine and a top end rebuild i finally fix my D.T 125R and get it to start, but after a minute or two of firing up oil leaks out from behind the sprocket on the left hand side, and quite quickly too. Does anyone know why this is?. Could it be too much oil in the gearing seeping through, because i saw the sprocket is higher up than the glass window, which is meant to be the max fill level. Although i am not sure. So if any one knows anything, or has experienced this before, any help would be appreciated.

I'm glad I found this forum! Hopefully someone can help. I've got a 1986 Radian that won't start anymore. I rode it from Detroit to Sturgis in 2000 along with 4 Harleys, it always started, was one of two bikes (the other, a brand new Sportster) that never broke down, and surprised all people who said it'd never make it, or that it couldn't keep up. It was my first long distance ride and I loved it! Comfortable and reliable (wish it had a bigger tank though). I rode it for a few years after that long ride and never had a problem, until... I left it sit for a few years while I was in the process of moving around and never drained the fuel. Big mistake on my part, yo…

Hi all, Just purchased a new Yamaha 2007 WR450F. Love the bike. Here's the problem. Even after keeping the battery on a battery tender, after the first intial start, (no problem there), no matter how long I ride for, (half hour or 2 hours), after shutting down the bike, when I go to start again, the battery might give me enough for 1 or 2 feeble tries and thats it! After that I'm back to the kick start. What a pain in the a--! Thats why I purchased the bike. E-start!! Anybody else with the same problem or any ideas? I have checked the rectifier output and that seems to be about 14 V. Thanks.

Hi, the cam chain on my '89 Radian sounds like it needs adjusting. Having looked at the pdf of the manual it just says " undo lock nut, undo stopper bolt " then tighten lock nut, tighten stopper bolt. Is it that easy, is it spring loaded to get the correct tension or do I have to adjust it via the stopper bolt. I f I do then how do I know the correct tension requiered on the chain.

Any ideas why I jumped on my bike this afternoon and I have no turn signals. No lights no blinkers nothin. The stop light works as well as the head light. Just no turn signals. Not even a light in the instrument panel. They just stopped. Anyone know of a common cause for this problem on this bike? It could be a fuse but where in the heck is it? Thanks Gary

I have recently developed a squeal when I apply the front disc brake. I fitted new pads fitted and it started after about 500 miles. I have washed the bike and this seemed to cure it but it came back after about fifty miles. Any thoughts anyone?

Hi, Might seem a bit of a daft question but could someone with an XJ600 Divvy have a look at the rear engine mounting bolt and let me know if there is a bolt head on the left hand side of the mounting rod. I think mines been sheared off somehow. Cheers.

My son has just bought a DT125 2003 and after riding it for the second day it suddenly stopped. He had done nothing wrong, and checked the obvious, eventually calling out a mobile motorcycle mechanic. Upon inspection the CDI unit was missing. We cannot see how this could have possibly fell off as it is apparently secured with a block type connecter, a bullet connecter and a screw to the frame, although I am told that it must have been there as the bike would not have moved without it! Can someone confirm that this soiunds correct, and if so where can I get one of these things from without going through a main dealer. I have tried a few breakers and ebay - main deale…

Hi, I'm new at refurbishing motorbikes but would like to give my XJ600 a face lift. I want to start with the twin exhaust cans as they are looking a bit rusty in places. Should I be looking to get them chrome plated or are there other, and perhaps cheaper, alternatives. I've had a quote from an electroplating company which was £250. Regards, Spuggy
